Jim McDonagh briefly ran The Hemlockstone in Wollaton, Nottingham, 300 yards from where I worked.
Spent several Friday lunchtimes there...

Excellent thread Bassingham. I’m sure you remember 1978-79 when we were Halifax’s feeder club: 5 of our former players came back to Leeds Road on Boxing Day when we won 2-0 and they were managed by Jimmy Lawson, which might explain things. Micky Kennedy also played in both games. It was even more of a re-union at the Shay in April where we won 3-2. Lawson still the manager, plus Hutt, Steve Smith, Sidebottom, Firth, Kevin Johnson, Mountford (and Kennedy) - matches your Bolton 8, but we can add Bobby Campbell who was sub at the Leeds Road match, but who’d had his contract cancelled before the return. Someone must have a team photo.
