As the 'Pontins' League there used to be a half time draw at 1st team games to win a holiday at a Pontins Holiday camp...(I know..) . I actually won this one week..and I could choose whichever Pontins Holiday Camp I wanted..so I choose one down in Devon...think it was 1984 as the Olympics were on. When we arrived in my car at the entrance to the camp I turned round to kids (3 and 5) to ask if they were 'excited', but they'd both ducked down into the footwell...telling me they didn't want to be seen going into a Pontins ! . While the cabin was manky the park was ok, good evening entertainment and we also discovered Blackpool Sands Beach where we went every day, bought a 4 berth inflatable dinghy and actually had fun...but didn't go again..

went to loads of Central League games back in the 60's, they played at home every other Saturday when the 1st XI were away...The opposing teams nearly always had some star players in, coming back from injury or whatever. The match day programme was a single sheet of paper.. Some of the attendances were pretty decent... Think it was 3d to get in, maybe 1d for the 'programme' .. They'd occasionally tell us how the first team was getting on. When we lost 7-6 at Charlton, my mate's dad bought an Examiner with the full-time score in it on his way home from the reserve match, where the last they'd said was 5-1 to Town. He couldn't believe what he saw, arguing with the vendor that it must be mistaken. Denis Law was injured and sitting next to Shankly, who was purring for the first hour until the Boy's Own twat Johnny Summers changed his boots (?) and scored five times with his wrong foot. And they had their centre-half as an injured passenger on the wing. Typical of Town that, at 6-5 down, we thought our equaliser had rescued a point. Have I made this up? It sounds a bit like Python's Four Yorkshireman 'try telling that to the kids of today: they'll never believe you'.

I recall the Fartown score used to be shown up on the scoreboard too..when they had a proper team at a proper ground and a proper kit...

I used to attend most of them. The incident I remember mostly didn't take place on the field though. It was at half-time and I was queuing up for a pint. A bloke at the front received his frothy pint a lager and then decided to lean against the door of the bar to guzzle it down. He was just raising it to his lips for his first taste when the door he was leaning on was opened from inside. He just about managed to stay on his feet but stumbled backwards and threw the whole pint over his face/head. I don't remember beer at Leeds Rd?

Went to quite a few early to mid 70’s, can’t remember who against but will have the teamsheets up in the loft somewhere. Most vivid memory was having my nicked on 2 separate occasions. Bizarre as I’ve never had one nicked at over a thousand home and away first team games. Kept my mum busy at the knitting machine though😂

I have vague memories of watching Manchester United’s reserves at Leeds Road. Bryan Robson was playing for them as he was coming back from (another) injury. Did this happen or have I made it up? I definitely remember it happening. I was there with a mate who was a town fan but a bigger utd fan. I got Bryan Robson's autograph after the game. I remember that the stand was packed and they opened the away end behind the goal for the some of the utd fans to go in. I remember a few TVs cameras being there covering Robson's injury comeback for sports night or midweek sport special!

Central League against Liverpool drew quite a crowd if I recall - Steve Ogryzovic (sp!) in goal. You could actually walk all the way round the ground to pass the time too - well I remember doing it, so I presume you were allowed. Sometimes took ages to get the ball back out of the eastern terrace with only one or 2 ballboys/staff covering the whole stand I don't actually think you were allowed to do it but there was so few stewards that they couldn't do much about it! Me and 3 mates once went and stood on our own in the cowshed at a reserve game for a match that featured John Burridge in goal and my mate ran behind his goal and pissed on his bag in the back of the net (this was when goalies used to have a little Head brand bag that had spare gloves in)! We gave him stick all game and at the end of the game he picked his bag up and sniffed it and several of his teammates were having a laugh with him!. Oh the fun times we teens had. I suppose it's better than today's teens stabbing eachother.

Can you imagine today's young players doing that? They'd be straight on the phone to their agent asking for a transfer.

If there was then I was going to the wrong snack bars cos all I ever got was Oxo,a wagon wheel and some clix chewing gum!

Remember going against Man Utd around 1970. They had Nobby Stiles playing for them and it might have been on the same day as the first team drew at Old Trafford 1-1, Best and Hoy the scorers on the day the Stretford End got outsung.
Another one I remember was a 0-5 loss to Everton who had a young Alan Whittle playing for them. Whittle was unplayable that day.

I went to a few reserve games with my dad (remember one particular match vs Liverpool on a Saturday afternoon) but far more as a ball boy when I was at Salendine Nook HS.

At risk of starting a tangent, only times I've been to a Pontins was for the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival at Camber Sands. Went in 2003, 2004 and 2009.
