As much as ot was fun seeing Leeds get battered at home, they are in the division above us.
Cringe at shit like this. Have banter if we play eachother etc. But as much as I hate to say it, of rather be a favourite going up to the PL than a favourite going up to the Championship.
Let's just focus on ourselves. Fuck Leeds/Bradford/Wed/Forest and Brum and let them look tinpot by creating threads etc on us.
I'm proud to be town and as long as we are doing fine I couldn't give a shit about the others. Makes us look like they are all we care about.

The only time their results bother me is when they directly affect us. Seeing many Town fans wanting their own team to lose last season because they didn't want Leeds to go up was beyond pathetic.

We were already down, wanting Lids to suffer just a little of what we were suffering was a silver lining to that cloud. If ever we're in a position where a win for them helps us, then I'd want them to win and I wouldn't feel conflicted about it (though I might joke that I did). You seem to get annoyed if anyone engages with the game in a manner different to how you do. Must be fun.

It may not have mattered, but I don't know how any fan can want us to lose just to affect another team's prospects, even the chestwankers. I NEVER want us to lose; if us losing meant L***s, Sadford AND Manure got relegated I'd STILL want us to win, regardless of the outcome of our own season.

If that's tinpot then I'm all for it (and yes, that's what inspired my name on here). Fuck what fans of other clubs think of us. Would I prefer to be in the Chesties' position than ours? Yep. But the misfortune of your rivals is part of the enjoyment of football.

As we were already relegated (barring an implausible combination of results) our result didn't matter. It was still pathetic. And we all knew they were more likely to fuck up in the play offs. FWIW, my animosity towards Leeds stems from the 70s when they were in their brief pomp and we were at our lowest ever point and we had to witness glory hunters from Huddersfield jump on the (increasingly violent) bandwagon. Town had been the pre eminent West Riding club for decades and the Revie era was very painful. I lived in Bradley too, which was virtually the heavy woollen district where most of the vitriol comes from to this day.

But there's so many people that check the Leeds result throughout the games and I just find it odd. So many times over the years we've been losing and you'll hear someone say "Leeds are losing at Blackburn" or whatever. I'm obviously in a minority here but my immediate reaction is, "who gives a fuck?"

A lot of fans always go on about how we live rent free in heads of Leeds etc yet people create threads like this. But... like it or not, some clubs DO live in our heads rent free. Just as we live in the heads of other clubs' rent free. It's part of being a football fan. The fortunes of HTFC live in my head rent free as well. It's escapism. What happens to Forest, Sadford & the Chestwankers has no impact whatsoever on my life, but - get this - nor do the fortunes of HTFC either. Not really. I enjoy football because it gives you highs and lows about stuff that is pretty much consequence free. There's the excitement of an attack, the admiration of a bit of skill or the work ethic. There's the intellectual stimulus of watching how the players line up in certain situations, the tactics used to nullify the opponent's strengths & exploit their weakness. Who should we sign to improve our squad & what attributes should they have? It's a source of conversation, something to do with your mates on a day out. That's true whether you're in the Champions League or Non-league. But in reality, is your life significantly worse now than it was 3 months ago when we were in a higher division? And if it is, is that because we opened the season against Peterborough instead of Plymouth, or because of other factors outside football? Football doesn't matter, but we get excited about it anyway. Some clubs live rent free in my head. So what?

We seemed to play them more regular when we were falling through the divisions, in the league cup, WR cup, testimonials or friendlies. Lets not forget they once tried to steal our club & although none of us were around back then we have family members who were & thankfully fought tooth & nail to stop them......One of those was my great uncle, he was the most placid man on earth & called them 'dirty L33ds'.

Last season (or the season before), we'd just lost and I was coming down the stairs and a lad I knew comes rushing over and says, "St. Andrews last minute winner". I just said, "And?" and he said "Leeds have lost!" I couldn't have given less of a fuck. Especially as we'd just lost. Clearly in a minority with this but I just think it's weird and it makes our fans look obsessed.

Was you there at Ipswich ? I wasn't. I was visiting my Grandad who had just been admitted to hospital with sepsis. I was , and I cheered along with the rest as the Leeds results came in , and also joined in when the LAFAA song . I also joined in the celebrations with the Ipswich fans that night , as most I met up with wished us luck for this season . I'm not obsessed with Leeds , it's called local football rivalry and it's probably gone on since football began . But I must admit that after looking for how the teams around town in the league have done , I always look for the Leeds result.. It's a family thing that's gone on for years and probably (hopefully) for years to come , if you don't understand that then fair enough. P.s I hope you grandad got better.
