8 central defenders on the books. Does seem excessive. If Ruffles/Turton/Balker can’t get themselves fit enough and stay that way then there is no point keeping them. Is Tom Lees quick enough anymore? Now on a suspension. Wouldn’t mind if we sold him. If Ruffles/Turton/Balker can't stay fit then they'll be ours for the length of their contracts as no-one will take them off us. Balker's the class act at this level so we should do everything we can to get him on the field. Ruffles I'd keep just for his left-sidedness - adequate as cover at this level. Turton can go for me if he's finally over his injuries - great lad but an average League 1 right back. Not a centre back or a wing back. Lees is fine at this level.

we play 3 at the back, therefore you need cover and as Balker is out until January at the earliest it seems. The number 8 is not correct is it ? we have 7 and with 3 starting , you have 3 to cover for injuries supensions etc. seems rather resonsable for me. If we let go of any , people would complai nabout or lack of comp or strength in depth etc.

It’s either zero or one. Got a feeling he got just the 1 for us. He was a good Player tho iirc. He was shite He was past his best but he’d still walk into our current midfield.

After a very ropey opening 10 minutes I thought he played well. Looks very calm on the ball and zips his passes nicely which is an upgrade on Spencer.

He definitely grew into it, following the initial omg what have we signed here moments.
Looks cool, composed and can pass. A definite improvement on what we have and will no doubt only get better.
Still don't know why he was booked.

Rotherham clearly targeted him in first 20 mins but once he gained his composure I thought he did really well. Liked the fact that he was always keen to get on with it keen to take and receive throw ins etc.

I think he will be a good signing. Good footballing brain and naturally compliments the weaknesses in Helik’s game.

On a couple of occasions he was on the right hand side getting a tackle in having got over from the left. Not many of our other CDs have the pace and presence of mind to do that.

To start with he reminded me of that lad we loaned off Man City a couple of years ago, but yeah he grew into it and had a good game.

Can anyone explain why when the Rotherham player was injured when there was no foul and play was to resume from a Town throw that he was going to take...the ref instructed him to give the ball to someone else and made him stay off field forcing us to 10 men for 45 seconds or so?

I thought that. Did he change his shirt? The letters were falling off the back and then they reappeared. Who knows though. Could just have been a part of the general clown show that was that refereeing performance.

Ahhh we couldn't see anything. Amazing how they got away with manhandling our players throughout the 90 (most of the time).

He was past his best but he’d still walk into our current midfield. I think he'd still get in the side, but I wouldn't expect he'd be a huge upgrade on what we have. You have to remember that he's 58 years old now and will have slowed down considerably.
