We are looking like a Moore side without a plan, or the nous to play without one. On the face of it we signed some reasonable players, who looked the part briefly. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm really hoping Duff has some sort of clue. UTT

The fact some posters are playing this down is the exact reason the club, and players have a pathetic losers mentality. ‘It’s only the cup’… you mean a chance to test tactic tweaks? The potential big boy games? You’ll play us again one day, mate.

Its a good job Blackpool game us off. Steve Bruce just appointed their new manager.......Losing to him would have capped off a nightmare 10 days. That's a shame, we could have booed him instead of having to boo our own side.

This brand of football is so similar to Darren Moore that it’s untrue, the system isn’t working and Duff’s refusal to have a plan b in matches is worrying. Less time back home in Cheltenham and more time on the training ground please

He was brilliant again tonight. Put some of our senior players to shame. Quality, passion and desire to win. Top prospect. That means he won't get played then so won't sign a new deal and we will get a crappy compensation claim for him and we will be told he has a bad attitude. He signed a 4 year deal in October according to the commentator. If true then one of the few good things Cartwright has done in 12 months.

Does anyone know who the match analysis and tactics team are? I’m Not being funny but there’s a place to start looking into these amateur showings.
Duff gets passed clips/analysis but I always struggle to see that we’re attacking opposition weaknesses.
Are the players being handed tapes on their own performances to study? It doesn’t look like it.
We’re seriously lacking from a tactical perspective. How does the analysis team struggle to highlight we have no one in midfield that drops deep allowing for beating any attempted press? How do they not see from the weekend Hogg’s clear weakness to collect the ball from inbetween the two CBs to open space and create options?
Are they not suggesting Iorpenda, who literally every single time I’ve seen him do exactly that whilst looking composed in midfield and tactically aware? Big difference between him and Hogg who gives me literal heart palpitations everytime he attempts to receive a football, with a horrid touch or proceeding pass coming next.
Sigh

I heard on the podcast that wiles had a 40 odd% successful pass rate against Rotherham. Tonight it must have been in the 20s. He literally gave the ball away almost every time.
I didn’t really buy into the fact that he’s had a good start. He was ok against Peterborough and got his goal but other than that?
Awful tonight.

The play wew have seen this season reminds me of the the first season back in the Championship after out relegation from the Premier League. We had some good players that looked shell shocked and appeared to be running through treacle. I think that it was only their quality that stopped us from being relegated straight in to League one. We cleared them out and replaced them with worse players, but with a good coach we almost got back to the Premier League. This time round we still have some of those players who are now older, slower and past it. We have mixed this lot together with a bunch of players who came down with them who looked like they couldn't be bothered to put in the required effort tonight. Something is smelling of another relegation hangover season ahead of us. Agree. They're miles off it in my eyes. Good professionals I am sure. But, they shouldn't be anywhere near to starting for our 1st IX. Good for match day squad and in amongst training ground to support the younger players, but that's as far as it goes for me. Shouldn't be giving them sympathy extensions or starting roles.

Careless..about sums it up. Summed up walsall and Rotherham. Was evident against Stevenage and Shrewsbury.. Trying to just do enough.. Said before, its a disease at Town for the last couple of seasons. Injuries that may or may not be caused or assisted by failing to train or warm up correctly.. Players out for weeks or months with injuries that could or should be sorted sooner or indeed avoided in the first place. Lack of professionalism across the board.. I do think Nagle should be asking serious questions given its his money. First goal tonight, lack of closing down properly followed by a dropped bollock by keeper and defender. Penalty conceeded by careless attitude, just not expecting to be challenged. Its all mostly just careless. Though Iorpenda did ok..thought the team framed at the death, its just doing enough and its not going to work, we dont have the quality going forward and the defence isnt sound enough.

The two big plus points for me are, firstly we didn't get any players sent off. Secondly I didn't watch or listen to it.
I think we made some good additions this summer. Duff needs to get them playing to their potential, once they are fit.
The proof of the pudding for me will be where we are after around 15 games. I hope we will be in the top 6 and improving game on game. Whatever happens, and we quite possibly won't get promoted this season, we need to keep Michael Duff and replace all the poorer players we will lose next summer with younger, better ones.
It would be lovely to think we will go straight back up but a good season and a good summer transfer window next year is not unrealistic given the poor quality of some of the core of our squad.

Chairman’s spoken out again on twitter… I like Nagle a lot but to come out publicly after a defeat in a tin pot cup with mainly kids playing is very odd, bordering on unprofessional imo.

Walsall beating a very strong Birmingham team with 20k per week May and 15million+ Stanfield upfront. Doesn't excuse our shite but some context is important Difference is, Brum have absolutely peppered them the whole evening. 81% of the ball, last 15 minutes I’ve witnessed more shots on the Walsall goal than I’ve seen Town do in all games combined this season. We got well beaten, if not dominated by Walsall

What is concerning that we played out the final 20 minutes with a side full of senior pros who mostly were Championship players last season and we seemed unable to fashion a presentable chance.

I just can’t believe how much of this comes to our embarrassing, non-league finishing. Healey missing 1v1s, Lees missing several open net chances, Hogg blazing over unmarked from 5 yards, Lees against Rotherham, that kid up front today missing the easiest 1v1 I’ve seen in a long while, genuinely comical.

I'm sure Duff will be delighted with Nagle acting up with his attention seeking, tone deaf, and interfering social media posts, again. Sorry if that counts as abuse of a club official!
I didn't watch or keep up but it sounds like the players that have roundly been shit footballers who habitually lose for the last 2 years have been shit habitual losers again.

Chairman’s spoken out again on twitter… What has he said, please ? Nagle Not good enough!! Cup or league we need to do better. From the players on up and right back down this is NOT the standard. Glad to have a bit of time to work on the issues and come back strong. I have full confidence in Michael and the lads to get right back in form. Still in good standing, need to build and never look back. UTT
