I mean that 45 minutes of football would have been a disgrace in the Championship, but at League 1 level, its an absolute disgrace. To gift any team an opener like that is incredible, and just smacks of complacency. What makes it worse is that Duff was all big mouth before the game about how we wouldnt be complacent and how he knows what they would be all about. So why do we not make them have to work to score against us, and gift them an opener, then double down with abysmal defending for the second.
No shots on target, no sustained pressure, no decent attacking play.... nothing. Have we changed things? No. How Headley gets in the team I will never know. Hogg needs to do the honourable thing and retire, because we havnt had any manager with the bollocks to drop him. We cant get anything going with him in there and he has stifled our creativity for several seasons now in my opinion. I am so tired of watching him play every week when he brings nothing in my opinion, apart from a negative impact on the team. I think anyone who thinks we will get in the top 2 need to adjust their expectations quickly. We wont get back into this, and losing at home to a team who will be fighting relegation to League 2 in this manner. No chance. Doesnt matter whether its the first game of the season, last or 6th game of the season, dropping 3 points at home like this, will 100% cost you.

I'm really not convinced about either the coaching or the way the team is set up. The midfield is having absolutely no impact. Hope we try something different in the second half. We've got to go out and be brave and take this game by the scruff of the neck. we're by-passing midfield by playing long balls from the back...most of which end up with their keeper. It's awful football.
We might as well just tell midfield to make up a back 7 because all they are being allowed to do is defend.
What happened to that slick midfield passing and movement we had earlier in the season, what the chuff is Duff playing at ?

That’s one awful first half. Reckon we have 3 changes min. The main problem is the defence plus the team seem to have become complacent thinking they are better than they are Looks to me that Northampton have done their homework |

I wonder if we change tactics in the second half. Lots of long balls to try and beat their defence for pace - it hasn't worked.

I’m not there or watching but he should not be starting any more games for us unless we’re down to the bare bones in midfield. 100% agree with rockwall on this one. |

It’s more than that though. He defends terribly, turns his back like a ten year old, can’t pass, but he’s excellent apparently 🤔 He’s an excellent player having a shit game He was a big part of why we got relegated. |

Its not just about what he has done wrong, he is a midfielder, he has to be able to contribute going forward, he has to set up attacks, and drive the team forward. We are playing Northampton at home, not Liverpool, we dont need someone sat there defensively, who cant assist us going forward. |

Why on earth are some squabbling about Helik, when Headley, Hogg and Lees are on the field attempting to play progressive football? I don’t know, maybe because he was at fault for both goals. Was he? Lees and Hogg for the 2nd I’m afraid. |

Said it a number of times. The players don't pass to Hogg they bypass midfield, said this after the Rotherham game. Not only do they bypass the midfield but Hogg doesn't come short and they don't play it out to him... They piss about with it and piss along the back/GK.
We were much better with Kane in that role the other week.
