Not just that... wrong tactics at the start. Try and beat their CBs with pace - didn't work. He changed it second half but it was too late. Oh Josh Koroma! Converting that penalty may have produced a different result. I'm hoping that the manager and the players will learn from this. Once again it’s shit lower league managers thinking that bang average centre backs can play like van dijk and rudiger. Not to mention Nicholls being Alisson in goal, more like Alison Hammond. Let me think... who posted this last week? Because a lot of town fans , especially on here, are idiots. Everything is so black and white to them. If we win we are amazing, if we lose we are awful. If you once said in a whisper that you thought someone was shit , they will hold it against you for as long as it takes for them to play well.

We aren’t going anywhere if we continue to look to wiles and evans as our midfield duo. A couple of goals have papered over the cracks of some awful performances and we should have known this with wiles. Evans isn’t playing for Bristol anymore and someone needs to tell him we need someone that can perform week in week out

Well what a contrast eh? Too much self congratulatory back slapping after last weeks result ? We've been here before, have a good win then down to earth with a bump.
The only player who looked decent was Hodge the rest awful with special mention to Hogg needs encasing in carbonite han solo style and displaying outside the ground. Sorrensen needs to man up. Shit soft v Rotherham and same today .
We have a fragility about us that is very concerning as fragile teams font win promotion

It starts with one player being off colour and gradually the ‘virus’ spreads through almost the entire team. Today’s catalyst was Helik. Our heads were still spinning when they got their second. The ref couldn’t wait to blow up every time a Northampton player went down but nowt for the foul that led to their third. Hope cruelly snatched away when Josh failed to put his laces through it for the pen. Just a horrible day. ☹️ Thank goodness we’ve only a few days to dwell on it before a tough game on Tuesday.

Anyone still rate Headley then? No I don't. I genuinely thought he had something but today he just didn't look arsed, lethargic almost. Wouldn't take a man on like he used to and his passing was crap. It's almost as if we have stepped up a division instead of down one.

Hogg is shite and always has been. Fucking hate defensive midfielders, time he was turfed out. Attack, attack, attack is the name of the game. Should be hosing teams like that. Utter wank. Really ? I think it's past someone's bedtime.

Hodge looked great but why the fk he was sat next to Hogg so deep is anyone's guess. It's one for the coach but I don't think it was anything to do with them running harder. More our coaching staff having an absolute stinker and being completely unable to read the game or counter the opposition. Worrying. To play the ball and receive it from deep. Play it to who?! He needs two in front of him! Either be comes on for Hogg or plays more advanced.

Yet another collective bad performance this early into the season is very worrying. We can’t cope with teams who are physical and press us.
I presume Duff thinks we should have the ability to play through teams but I’m not sure we have. The wingers were really bad today, but the midfield of Hogg, Wiles & Evans is really weak physically and needs a rethink. I’d be giving Iorpenda a run personally, he looks to have the ability and physicality we’re missing.
The players don’t look comfortable, as I’ve said before we lack resilience and don’t have enough of a winning mentality, or enough winners in the team. When a game goes against us we collapse.
We won’t be going anywhere this season unless something fairly drastic changes.

Just back in Birstall. I set off at 530am to drive 220 miles to watch that utter shite. I need my head examining. You’d think after supporting Town for 59 years I’d know better. And I’ve got a ticket for the bloody Barnsley game. Idiot. Sod it. I’m off out for a meal. Enjoy your munchy Walton - Hopefully it’s better than that wet lettuce performance on the field of play from Town today... You’d probably have been better watching Sutton United v Ebbsfleet which looked like an exciting game and good result for your adopted home club in the south... Don’t feel too alone with the mileage to see HTAFC getting gubbed - I’ve done this movie many times ! 😊 ☹️ 😉

Headley’s biggest issue. If he does the first thing well he has a good game. The instant he makes a mistake his head goes and he withdraws into his shell. It’s consistent. He needs to see a sports psychologist to deal with it. Sorensen was the same today though. Every bit as poor.

Would it be stupid to have a midfield 3 of Kane, Hodge and Iorpenda for the game on Tuesday. I think it'd be much better than the one today.

Been poor for a while now, loan him out, don't want to see him in the first team again, another one that probably needs writing off. Looked completely devoid of confidence. You wont get confidence hiding and not wanting the ball!!! Utterly woeful .....again and tbf sorensen arguably worse on the day! I like duff - but dont understand his comments re no lack of application. Theyve just been outrun and outfought for me.Started without any tempo or urgency and paid the price....and thats on the manager. He did say we were outrun and outfought to be fair to him.

Didn’t want Hogg to start today but the folk blaming him for today’s debacle must have missed another couple of pathetic displays from Wiles and Evans. They’ve played well for 2 halves of football each this season between them.
Wiles has been an awful signing in all honesty, doesn’t want to get involved unless Town are massively on top in a game, Evans very much the same.

Wonder how many more times Duff wants to try that midfield before it sinks in? Hodge came on and made a difference straight away just like he Did at Rotherham, a lot of that performance is on Duff today I’m afraid. But why change a team that just won 4-0 away at Bolton?

We all love Helik for the goals that made a difference but he's a central part of a misfiring defence for a number of years.
No rumours of championship teams wanting him in the summer...
Why's that?

If we are going to play Wiles, it has to be as the tip of the midfield not wide. Evans was worse today by a mile, though. Wiles drove us forward a couple of times, almost found space in the box, had an almost game in general, while Evans just looked like the game completely passed him by. I have to confess I have been disappointed with him. Hodge and Kane certainly come in for me.

Bojan looked really slow and devoid of any confidence. Jesus Cartwright has signed some rubbish. Don’t worry Dunc him and Healey will tear this division a new one apparently 😂

Made Luke mbete look like Vincent company
Nichols couldn’t do nothing about any of them Maybe a little out of position for the own goal
Sorensen headley barely in the game Helik waving his arms about like it was everyone else’s fault and lees looks like a pensioner
Wiles and Evan’s might aswell have been sat next to me in the stands Hogg inafective Marshall tried but again ineffective as well as koroma
Only bright spark was hodge when he came on
Hopefully just 1 bad day at the office
But wow I want my money back

Helik was stupid however longwidk should never have played that ball, I guess he did that because he had zero options in front of him and no movement, the same the entire match really. It's more fundamental than our defence doing silly things imo. I did find myself wondering today if the back three is any better than a Pearson, Helik and Lees combo. Imo it's worse. I'd play Pearson on the right and Lees on the left. We missed an old fashioned row z defender today

It’s like a wide V most of the time, with Evans and Wiles more like withdrawn wingers in their position than central midfielders. I’d invert the V and make it narrower, get a more identifiable central midfield as a pair, with an attacking tip playing between the lines. It reduces support to the wing-backs, but increases presence in the middle. Options on the ball increase too.

Duff, picked them and gave them the game plan. Darren in disguise makes me laugh that people are blaming duff for that. helik own goal, missed penalty and a clear foul on the 3rd, that’s on the players. no one slagged him off last week when we won 4-0? First half last week was just as bad, up to the goal. The defence was way too slow.

Duff has said they ran harder than us as one of the main reasons for losing, and has also said it wasn't a lack of application. That makes sense. The most worrying thing was he said they played exactly as we expected them to and yet we had no game plan for it. Nonsense, we lost because we had no game plan and couldn't pass the football to each other. Plus individual poor performances but above all it's on the coaching imo. Why you'd watch that absolute dross for an entire half without changing a single thing is beyond me. I like duff but I find it concerning be doesn't seem to have a plan B let alone C or D. Seems if our wingbacks are crap, which seems like they will be, then we're stuffed really. Worrying to me that all his comments seem to suggest that we’re absolutely married to playing wingbacks. Big problem we’ve got is that Miller is injured and Sorensen looks out of form going fowards and can’t defend to save his life. That would be fine if we had options that didn’t involve Headley who is absolutely appalling and Turton on the other side who isn’t a wingback in a million years.
