No chance is this team finishing anywhere near the top of the league. It's going to be a transition year, and hopefully do something next season. In reality though, I can see us slowly getting stuck in the league like Charlton have. The fact some town fans seemed to think we would stroll to promotion perplexed me from the moment we were relegated. The gulf between our squad being shit and good is lot larger than that between the Championship and League 1.

Why can't we do anything with corners anymore?

No, I just understand how football works, unlike you. Since Reading went ahead, we've been poor. Fine. Agreed. But they scored from their very first corner. We'd forced the play for the entire game until then. We'd scored, had one disallowed, and kept the keeper busy. They have had four shots in the entire game to now. And sometimes that happens. The side that forces the play doesn't score the goals it should while it's in the ascendant. Meanwhile, we're on 15/16 shots, we've created opportunities. We've just not scored more than one. If you watch football, that's something you should know to accept because it happens. It isn't lack of effort. It isn't 'unacceptable'. It's just how the game goes. We had two opportunities to clear the ball for the first goal and haven’t got going in the second half at all. Reading have the bailiffs at the door and we’ve got a squad of 20 decent players for this level. Taking nothing from Northampton, Blackpool and Reading is relegation form. Yeah we did. And I commented on that some time ago. Northampton and Blackpool were truly abject performances and we got what we deserved. Today hasn't been like that. It's been a decent performance against a side that has had two proper opportunities to shoot, four shots total. They've scored both. Sometimes that's how it goes. We've been unlucky in the sense they've taken all the half-chances they've been given, which is a relative rarity in the game.

Can we get out of the select car leasing Bernabeu with a point? Duff would be buzzing with that playing against such a 'dangerous team.'

Defensive solidity was a myth. Peterborough, Stevenage and Shrewsbury all had good chances to score Not a myth, they had a few chances between them and in every single game Town had far more. Stevenage missed an open goal

He's first line was right though. There's dozens of bedwetters on here just waiting for us to mess up. Are staines their favourite non league team?

Maybe we’re people who have realised all along we’re not quite good enough and wins have glossed over that. It’s your fault for not realising it too, doesn’t make anyone a bedwetter. Hahaha you're the captain of Bedwetters United. I'm not entirely sure how any grown up can be so reliant on Town's results each week. Thanks for the promotion, I’ll go dust off my armband. Delighted to sign on the dotted line

This has to be the end of Cartwright, he has appointed all these managers who aren't the right fit for the squad.

Forget the opposition we play, we are dire at going forward and scoring, how many shots on target again is it 2.

I genuinely cant believe we lose 3 in a row against Northampton, Blackpool and Reading. I thought things were bad in the last couple of seasons, but this is getting to a huge low point.

Seems those early performances and defensive solidity have completely disappeared and we’re back to the Town of old - concede so easily and have to huff and puff to score. Defensive solidity was a myth. Peterborough, Stevenage and Shrewsbury all had good chances to score They did, but we also had more chances than them all. We missed a lot of them, and they missed their chances. In the last 3 games including today, the opposition has taken their chances and we continued not taking ours, accepting that we created little the last 2 games.

So the yellow card rule on kicking the ball away doesn't apply here?

The only hope of promotion with this squad is having a Warnock/Bruce type who has the know how to grind results. Whilst I like Duff as a person he simply is not that.

So the rule on kicking the ball away doesn't apply here? The ref quite rightly realised he didn't delay the restart as we're slow as fuck at every restart anyway.

What an absolute load of tripe "Forced the play for the entire game until then", but you have the never to say that you understand "how football works", clearly not. But we had. We'd created all the chances until they scored - from our error. They scored with their first and second shots on target. It's simple stuff. Sometimes you can be better in general play, as we have, and lose a game. As we're likely to. I'm not going to lose sleep over today's performance. I'm not going to overreact. We should have won today. But sometimes you lose games you should win on balance of play. It happens. I'm not saying we've battered them; we haven't. But we've had almost 20 shots to 6. 8 shots on target to 2. Play the same game 10 times and we win it 8 times. They don't take both shots on target they've had. They miss a chance. We take another. Of concern is the run of results. Today has represented an improved performance and if we play like this every week we'll win more than we lose. But it doesn't take away from the fact we haven't scored goals. It isn't putting a gloss on. It's just how the game has played out.

We've had more "transition years" than Caitlyn Jenner. Post of the season 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I got the answer combine the ladies and men's team, Canada does it and look at them. Imagine all the praise and glory, BBC and FA be salivating. You know it makes sense, don't be an old reactionary.
