A lot of fans thought the same about us in the Championship and definitely in the Prem. It's always been fairly poor has Wrexham and if i remember rightly its about 19/20 years since we played and it was the last game of the season at their place and we won 1-0 Smirf got the winner. 7th may 2005 to be precise, went to that one myself, just missed out on the playoffs after a really strong finish to the season, we won about six or seven on the bounce. So long ago? Went to Chester races the day before & had a pretty good day (thanks to a great horse named Harbinger)........My mate brought the kids over for the match the next day, cracking weekend.

It's going to be a trip down memory lane for a few of our staff members too. (PS: Away Win)

I remember going to the cup tie at Wrexham (Jan 99?) and Rushy was up front. Painful to watch a previously world class striker running like his legs were stuck in quick sand.

The good looking Steve Cooper on the front row, the Forest manager.
Cartwright too.

Actually better than that. Won the last 9 games in a row. We”re actually both wrong, won eight of the last nine games with a 2-2 home draw with Colchester spoiling the sequence! Yes, apologies. I honestly thought I remembered it and actually looked it up before posting, but still missed the Colchester result. lol. Trouble is I get up around 3am, and sometimes it seems, I'm not as awake as I think I am.

Which year was it when their striker (Gary Bennett?) made a "1-0" gesture to is during the game - before we went on to win? I reckon the playoff winning season under Warnock. I think we were in the seats above the standing area behind the goal - although a long time ago now Think it was 95, remember he was scoring loads, got one and celebrated right in front of us. I'm sure also that game boothy got clattered, next corner whoever did it was flat on the floor with jepson walking away from him!! Was a great win

You mean ‘Deadpool Vs Professor X’ ”He’s just a shit Spider-Man”. Oh how I would love to hear our fans sing this to him 😁

The last time I went to Wrexham was with my sadly missed pal Golcar Hammy. Respectfully I won't go into details

Went years ago, think we lost. Came back via Newton Le Willows, convinced a tramp who was on the station playing a penny whistle to get on our train home. Paid for him to stop at the Crescent for the night, and fed and watered him. Often wonder if he ever went back or just became a Huddersfield tramp?

Gary Bennett had just signed for Tranmere and got absolutely hammered by Town fans all game. Had no idea why at the time of course.

Is the ground still three sided, due to the redevelopment? That might be why. Mind you we'll only give them the same. With our ground only being half full like it was on Saturday. Why would we reduce, we gave Barnsley nearly double that at 2,336 ?! They sold out and there was 1000s of empty home seats.

Last time I went Ian Rush was stealing money by playing for them. It was a cup match. I'm fairly sure we drew 1 1

Finished 9th on 70 pts along with Bournemouth and Bristol city, Hartlepool got the last playoff place on 71 pts, we missed out by a whisker, finished with a plus goal difference too.

IIRC, Hartlepool lost in the playoff final at Cardiff to the Wendies. Then, like a great number of losing playoff finalists (ourselves obviously included), they went to shit and got relegated the following season, eventually ending up in non league where they've spent 6 of the last 8 seasons (including this one). 90 minutes away from the Championship and 12 years later they were in the National League.

I still don't understand why you think that we'd reduce the number of seats we offer to Wrexham to match what we'll get at their place. We won't, we'll offer them what Barnsley got.

Lots of away fans complain that they only get half that stand, personally I'd leave it as it is and tough shit.

So the late equaliser by Colchester actually did cost us a place. My memory isn't that good around that era whereas I can remember every detail of games in the early 80s.

It did indeed, mind you i suppose every team within sniffing distance of the playoffs can point to last minute goals conceded, conscientious pens, poor refereeing decisions etc over the course of the season, still dosnt stop you thinking what might have been. Regarding remembering results and games in the 80's, i can probably name most FA cup winners through the 70's and 80's, but ask me who won it in 2013 for example and i couldnt tell you, it would be a guess.

I can name the teams, the scorers, the goal times. I can remember every game. The rest of the 80 I can remember but have to think about. 90s onwards no idea All the scorers I

Huge advantage though having 4000 away fans in the atmospheric stand completely out singing the non existent atmosphere we used to create without the cowshed town end. One of the easiest and best things town have done since moving to the new stadium. Plus It completely pisses offvthe away supporters which is even better. A few clubs have since followed suit and copied our philosophy.
