Plenty of matches get called off for "supporter safety" nowadays, particularly when there's long distances involved. I don't think it will be postponed either but it wouldn't surprise me in the modern age of litigation and (sometimes) overarching H&S. Like the tiny bit of snow we got this week causing a load of schools to shut for teachers' and pupils' safety - I got to work perfectly fine that day, in fact I ended up getting here early because I'd, you know, planned ahead Do they really? I know the surrounding conditions may mean a match gets called off but heavy snow is the only reason. I'd say much more matches were called off back in the day. I can remember several Saturdays when only 4 or 5 matches were on. Tv had to dash around to find one to cover. Happened to Town once, Oxford or Millwall...? but supporter safety? Nowadays that’s what they say yeah, not like back in the day when it was just shitloads of snow I remember those days when matches were called off all over the place, pools coupons decimated 😂

They used to travel down first class to a posh hotel every week whether there was games called off or not, all expenses paid. Arthur Ellis was on the panel I think.

Thick snow falling in Birstall. What’s it like in Huddersfield? Don’t know but very heavy in Brighouse. Should all be gone soon with forecast of significant rise in temperature.

Got up this morning and might have to take that back 😂

Expecting a very attritional , disrupted game today against a defensively sound and direct Charlton team .
Would go
Chapman
Spencer Pearson Helik Lonwijk Miller
Kasumu Kane Wiles
Healey Koroma
Personally can’t stand the odious twat Jones but he will have watched that Tamworth game and have Charlton well up for it .
Score draw 1-1 Koroma

A lot of Charlton fans seem to think it will be off. No chance surely? We haven't had a match off this century have we? They’re probably hoping it will be the soft southern fairies.

Only home match I can remember cancelled was a friendly in the early noughties - sheff United maybe - as it hammered it down with rain

York City was cancelled early in new stadium
Didn’t it snow but the actual problem was the pitch heating had malfunctioned ?

Think it was torrential rain that had the river full so drains could not cope,Also we had an injury crisis😜

York was cancelled quite late (2pm) if I recall - we were walking through the car park towards the South Stand.
The rain had actually stopped by then too, it was the volume of water that fell in the couple of hours before that did it.
Speaking of York, remember going across to York for the game in thick fog hoping it'd still go ahead. Then we lost 3-0, had TC sent off and one of our fans threw a firework that hit Iain Dunn. Would have been better with a postponement (much the same as Shrewsbury away too).

Thick snow falling in Birstall. What’s it like in Huddersfield? It was still snowing in Linthwaite at 7am and looked like Narnia, but now chucked it down for around 2 hours and a lot of it has melted! It might be a little wet underfoot, but they'll still water the pitch before kick-off 🤣

We also had a night game against Cardiff called off late due to torrential rain. I can't remember that one. 12 miles away Bradford have several called off every season. 4th division infrastructure despite the over ambitious rebuild to parts of the ground.

It was a bitterly cold on 29th Feb 2020 when Town wwarmed up the fans with thumping 4-0 win against Charlton. Bacuna made it four with a great last kick of the game strike.....Little did we know it would be 18 months before we would be allowed to watch again at JSS when Covid struck shortly after.

Only time they've ever brought numbers here. Chaos after game. Absolutely horrible on walk back up to Town. Two late goals for us in a 2-2 draw. www.espn.co.uk/football/match/_/gameId/46804/cardiff-city-huddersfield-town
