What's the story with this lad? Did not see that he was inured and was not on the bench at weekend?

Probably went to sit on the bench and missed.

Wasn’t signed for 1 million plus so they don’t have to force him in the team. From what I’ve seen he looks like a bit of a clown but doesn’t negatively affect our play unlike radulovic.

Probably recuperating from his exertion as he pulled his socks up and tied is boot laces. Good thing is we only have two more years with this crock along with some of our other super strikers. With a bit of luck they might manage goals between them in those two years.

He’s better than Radulovic so why not start him instead 🤣

I'm not sure what he's good at. He must have things we haven't seen because he's had a decent career and he's only 31 so physically he shouldn't be struggling that much. Maybe mentally he's checked out I have no idea but I've seen absolutely nothing, not even a moment to cling to (Radulovic in the very briefest of moments has, although it's like comparing the best ways to eat a turd). He did alright at Rotherham for 3 seasons not long ago so I can't think that it's being up north. I really don't understand what's going so wrong.
Bringing him in at the time was almost sensible, the 2 year contract was not. Had it been his contract would get renewed based on so many appearances then fair enough but if the only way to get him was a straight 2 year deal then we should have walked away unless he showed something incredible I missed at Ipswich and Charlton last season.

If I knew how to find the Ladapo signed thread, I'd be able to confirm what I think is a suspicion, that he is on a short term contract, to the season end at most. Wouldn't stake my life on it though

It's not staggering. Whats staggering is how poor he is. Giving the lad a 2 year deal when we were desperate for a striker with only hours of the window remaining, hed been so prolific at this level only a couple of years ago and there was competition from other clubs, is pretty understandable IMO.

Just couldn't see if he was sick / injured or what, as you'd expect him to figure somewhere in the match day squad given how poor other options are......

He’s limited, but nowhere near as bad as made out by some. His all-round game is poor, true. His hold up play lacks. He’s not particularly quick. If we want a target man - as we do - he isn’t it.
What Ladapo is is a finisher. Put him in front of goal and he’ll get chances. What his all-round play lacks his ability in front of goal off-sets. Given minutes and chances, he’ll score goals. I just don’t think he does anything else, which is an issue. In this day and age a striker needs more of an all-round game than that.
I was surprised he wasn’t on the bench on Saturday, that being said. More physical than Radulovic or Marshall, for all his weaknesses, and not markedly slower than the latter.

When we signed him a Rotherham fan told me he did nothing in terms of play other than scoring a fair percentage of the chances made for him. Probably would have scored the two chances Koroma had at Crawley as I was told he didn’t often miss sitters.

As per usual seems no due diligence was done, if it was, it wasn't good enough. There's a reason he was a free agent and nobody else wanted him. It would have been bad enough giving him a year, two years is a joke. I think it's crystal clear Duff doesn't rate any of his strikers, especially Freddie and Bojan. Healey and Ward decent enough but never available and when they are not match fit. The striker situation alone is a sackable offence.

Just shows how misleading stats can be though. You’d think we’d be putting more effort in to finding players than googling them ??

Who out of the free agent strikers is the best that we can get?...and they chose him and ( bizarrely as it looks now) had to beat of competition to get him...thus the 2 year deal. There'll be a few DoFs at a few other clubs noticing what hes done here and thanking their lucky stars they didnt get him Id imagine.

The past is all you've got to go on, especially if the player hasnt been playing much. Dont think nobody signing him in the window means no one wanted him. Could have been a tactic by his agent to get a better deal once the window had shut when clubs' options are reduced .. a tactic that probably worked out well in that respect.

It’s amazing how many people think that because player x was once decent then he should still be decent. Age is such an important thing in football, it can radically change a player’s abilities. The amount of players we’ve signed who were once decent but turned out to be crap in the present is incredible and these players never go onto achieve after us, often they plummet to unimaginable levels. I cringe when I see posts saying things like ‘he’s proven’, we need to sign players on form and with an upward trajectory. It doesn’t matter if they’re lower league imo, what matters is the player they are in this moment

In his case it was 1 year....is a player likely to go from firing Ipswich to promotion in this division , to a year later not being worth signing on a free?

What I can’t understand is signing another slow striker, we had enough of them and needed a different option. We panic signed imo

They ( him and his agent) might not have been thrilled by the clubs that came in for him in the window or what they were offering. After the window,,when clubs are panicking a bit like we were once the Luton player fell through, he might get interest from a better club. Im not really surprised we signed him and at the time it seemed like a decent move, all things considered....Im just surprised at how hes had zero impact every time hes got on the pitch.

The guy made himself available for after the transfer window has passed, found a desperate team and will now sit back on his 2 year deal seeing him to 33. A masterstroke by his agent and we’ve been the patsy yet again. I doubt he’s kicking up a fuss for having Saturdays off.

I just worry that the January window is comming up and we have the same team making the selection as we have in the past. I’d say it’s more about making them do what they aren’t good at. It’s not just the strikers either, over the past few years they’ve had Hogg playing a playmaker, sorba a wingback, Nicholls a ball playing goalie, wiles on the wing, bojan a target man, rudoni defensive midfielder. The director of football system has created such a rigid system with no room for change. For example, if we wanted to play 433 tomorrow we couldn’t no defensive left back. Not a single left footed centre half. No right winger. All because they are obsessed with 3 at the back. Now what’s this got to do with ladapo. It’s because he’s being judged off of 10 minutes here and there. How is it possible that radulovic has played over 700 minutes this season, Marshall nearly 1000 and would you believe ladapos grand total is 292 minutes. Just over 3 games for a player who has scored over 100 career goals. Most of them in this league. Meanwhile the other two have scored 36 between them.
