Not looking too bad imo. Just need 3 or 4 to make up the bench...
Nicholls Spencer, Hudlin, Ladapo, Roosken Kane, Kasumu, Wiles Thomas, Charles, Taylor
Bench: Chapman, Sorensen, Iorpenda
Injured: Evans (hurty toe), Balker (disintegrated hamstrings), Bojan (tearful mess after a goal in training), Healey (came back from off-season without any limbs)

My view - move on (or pay off) Hudlin and Ladapo.
Sell or loan out Evans.
Bring in some centre halves, a right back option, a left winger and a decent option in central midfield to replace Hogg/compete with Kasumu, and I think we need an 8/10 ball playing midfielder. Someone who can unlock defences.

Very curious who they make captain.
Nicholls and maybe Spencer are the only ones who could stake a claim at the minute but we seem very low on leaders..

Neither Taylor or Charles have shown enough to show you can build a promotion push around them, and by moving on Hudlin and Ladapo I take it that means you’d keep both Radulovic and Healey ? One isn’t good enough and one has proved he is too injury prone to take the gamble of including in the squad.

No one in that squad deserves to be captain in any way shape or form. New DOF New manager New club captain Anyone that has a problem with this, get rid

I think Taylor and Charles deserve a clean slate with a new manager, system etc around them and a pre-season. Healey and Radulovic both cost too much to consider moving them on cheaply so we're stuck with them unless we can find a buyer wiling to pay a decent enough fee to limit our losses. In an ideal world we'd probably start this window with about 5 players, but that's not the real world.

I suspect that the squad and team we see in early August will be very different to what we have seen. There will be contracted players who also want to go and may get away.
It has been said we need a "clear out" and I think that is what is likely to happen. At some point we need to draw a proper line under the past few years and really start again. We have that opportunity and I hope it is taken.
I think there are a couple of players e.g. Taylor, Charles, who we may see better from in a different team and environment. There might be a couple who completely surprise e.g. Evans and Wiles (that might is a key word for those two) but overall the time to change is here, let's grasp it.

Thanks for taking the time to do this - just wondering whether if there's an extra section for full-backs, not just a defenders section, there could also be a wingers section seperate to midfielders?

Question: What happens to a 22 man squad + under 21,s,when the under 21,s reach age 22?? For the most recent season (2024/2025) the definition of 'Under 21' was defined as 'any player born on or after January 1 2004', so I'm guessing that for next season will be 'any player born on or after January 1 2005' Brodie Spencer turned 21 yesterday, so I'm guessing is no longer under 21. Tom Iorpenda is still 20 so will count.

Twelve weeks on Friday the new EFL season starts for league one/two (Championship a week later), so if DW takes over as manager the squad of players (minus international ones) can probably expect to start training sometime in mid June.
The thought of this for some left will have them straight on the phone to their agents, 'I'm a workshy footballer get me out of here'......Followed by the steel drum beats!

Current possible starting XL for next season. Still need a few options at CB and a left winger (although Harness could play there I expect him to play more as a #10)

Strikers
Rhys Healey Freddie Ladapo Joe Taylor Dion Charles Bojan Radulovic Kyle Hudlin
I would hesitate to class that lot as strikers. Maybe strikers in the sense that they seem to download tools at the drop of a hat. I honestly think that Hudlin is better than any of the Cartwright buys. At least he gave it a go holding the ball up during his brief stint up front in the Championship. How on earth have left ourselves with such dross? The bigger problem is moving them on because I cannot see any club wanting to part with money for any of them apart from maybe, maybe Taylor but only based on what he achieved elsewhere. We are crying out for a big centre forward who can hold the ball up, head it competently and provide an outlet for the defence. Such a player has been needed for three seasons now and still we wait.

In a World Cup year I can’t see Sorba staying and selling him could help part fund this rebuild, happy if he stayed though. Not sure you can class Balker as a first team player with that injury record.

Would be gobsmacked if Sorba stayed I am sure he feels he needs to be at a higher level to maintain his place in the Welsh squad.
