I feel sorry for Glennon to be honest.
Hasn't done anything to be dropped except get in the way of one of Gerry's boys.

aside from his consistently mediocre (at best) performances over the last 2 seasons you mean?
yep, i feel dead sorry for him.
maybe when he gets back into the team (which he will) he will realise he is no longer guaranteed to be number 1 and produce some better performances.

he isnt that bad, per say
he just isnt very good!
and we will need a better keeper, IMO, if we are to challenge for promotion next (or even this) season.
hopefully the new guys will see that (like Stan did on when he tried signing Carlo Nash on deadline day) and move for a new keeper in January....

Do you think it is a coincidence that 2 games before a new manager comes in, all of a sudden Gerry thinks it the perfect time to give Smithies a run out? I had similar thoughts. I reckoned that by the New Year, if Gerry was still in charge, we'd have around 7-8 academy players in the starting 11.

Do you think it is a coincidence that 2 games before a new manager comes in, all of a sudden Gerry thinks it the perfect time to give Smithies a run out? Maybe he was doing it to give Smithies a bit of exposure... Maybe Glennon hit Unsworth... Maybe Glennon cocked up too many times... It's just so tedious listening to all these remarks about Gerry favouring his academy players over the non-academy squad members. We've won 4 out of 5 in the league; his academy players are doing a hell of a lot better than Ternent's overpaid recruits!

lets face it. Glennons best skill is saving penalties. but how often does he need to do this? his all round game is pretty average. I ;ve lost count of how many times the opposition score when I think glennon should have and could have done better.

Smithies is good enough and deserves a chance.

Where's the bit where he says he's not likely to play against Southend, or is that just speculation on your part?

I think Smithies did ok in the Walsall game to warrant another start. Gives us healthy competition.

I think it is Gerry trying to get Smithies exposure. Gerry said post Walsall that Glennon took his omission professionally. This article says otherwise. I feel sorry for Glennon on this occasion.

Nah - just another footballer bunged a couple of quid for 'writing' for icons. icons is hilarious really. They sign up all these 'promising' players and their diaries are full of exciting posts about how Liverpool and Manchester United are watching them and then... the career goes off the rails and they end up at FC Haka. e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherno_Samba

I feel sorry for Glennon to be honest. Hasn't done anything to be dropped except get in the way of one of Gerry's boys. Any excuse to have another snipe at Gerry. It's getting a bit tiresome, as well as irrational, don't you think? Anyway, what's the problem? Smithies deserves a chance to show if he's progressing. If he's not up to it, then he won't keep his place in the team and Glennon will be back.

A new manager is coming in, and for no discernible reason Gerry puts Smithies in the team, I highly doubt that's coincidental. It's not an excuse for a snipe, it's an observation. If someone can give me a logical reason why Gerry would replace our number 1 keeper with his academy product 2 games before the appointment of a new manager, i'd be keen to listen.

I'll give you a reason Tom Glennon was at fault for the goal we conceded against Orient and cost us a point - therefore he made a mistake and deserves to be dropped! I like Glennon and think he has a big part to play in the future at Town and IMO has the potential to be a Championship keeper. That said Smithies IMO has the potential to a Premiership keeper and at some point will pass Glennon ... provided he gets a bit of first team exposure now and then! As for Murphy favouring the academy lads, can you please explain why Worthy was dropped after Brighton in favour of Goodwin You seldom miss a chance to take a pop at the academy, as others point out it's tiresome and at this moment in time simply looks irrational and nit picking off the back of 3 league wins in 4!
