As a "decent" Town fan I couldn't give a monkeys about Billy Barstewards bloody statue, the dirty little cheating scottish git. Just about sums Lids up doesn't it, erecting a statue to one of footballs nastiest, dirtiest players. Wish some Town fans would come down off the moral high ground and take it for what it was, a bit of a laugh. I thought it was hilarious anyway, but what a waste of good paint.

Fine piece of artwork. Putting across your opinion by calling people morons isn't going to work now is it? Moaning isn't going to change anyone's opinion.

I for one and i would hope most decent Town fans think the vandalism of the statue was not only embarrassing for the club, but for the town as a whole. How some of the morons on here can openly applaud this behavior is beyond me and not the kind of stuff that I would wish be associated with. I didnt boo, nor clap. He was their hero, it was the 10th anniversary and i let them have their moment however Im so glad they had the applause because a minutes silence would have been even more embarrassing with people booing. Yes Leeds have done that before, and been chastised by us for it, why do we have to try and be as bad ? Ive had quite a lot of flack at work over that the statue and had nothing but contempt for those who performed it. At the end of the day, they probably made Dennis Wise's team talk so much easier because it just fired everybody up So well done lads!! You had a successful day How is it a certainty that it was done by somebody associated with Town and not someone from L***s in an attempt to justify a kickoff on Saturday

It's called having a sense of humour.
It's not like someone curled one on his grave.
Love the name calling though. Never fails to impress on the interweb.

I say show Leeds the same hatred they show us and everyone else, their fans are animals, sod Bremner.
Pity they didn't put something on the statue that was harder to remove!

The biggest misjudegment you made Marko, is just how much some people, myself included, detest Leeds Utd as a whole. From top to bottom, or from Bates to buffoon you could say, the club is riddled with people who seem to want hatred, and then they are surprised when something like this happens?! If i acted like an arsehole, i'd expect a reaction. So should they.

Nothing to do with the statue thing but I think theres a general misjudgement about the level of interest/rivalry most Town fans have about Leeds Utd in general. Seems to be the be all and end all with quite a few on here but it simply isn't anything important to most Town fans. 1700 tickets and they didn't get snapped up straight away. Even the 2nd tier didn't polish them off and they ended up going on general sale. Barely 2000 at the beamback. For me games against the chickens are a bigger deal.

Marko, I think you are missing the point mate. You are right not to condone the actions on Saturday but look at the point the JJ has just made.
Any Town fan who remembers Leeds from the 70s and 80s will probably have good reason to hate them forever. My earliest memory is when we beat them in the League Cup when Cowling scored and just because our car had Huddersfield markings on it, they smashed it up! I was only 7 at the time and as you can imagine I was terrified. The reason I still hate them is because they still have the same mentallity nowadays even though the rest of football on the whole has moved on.

Didn't say you were a moron mate, just a bit misguided in your judgement. All the Lids arrogant cheating cronies, Bates, Wise, players, Eddie the tosser Gray on radio Lids and tossers on this site in the name of supposed Lids supporters have fueled the fire for weeks and weeks, ripping supporters off, bending league rules telling us it's our cup final etc etc (same old Leeds always cheating) and don't like it when their fingers get burnt (ie 15pt deduction, someone taking the urine out of Billy Barsteward) Good luck to Leeds you reap what you sow and get everything you deserve. Pity you didn't get thrown out of the League for Bates antics. Still can't understand anybody wanting to waste good paint on the arrogant, cheating, ginger haired piece of shoite though.

But we didn't even sell out for Bradford and the following fell year on year. We sold more for a LC round 1 match than for either Bantams match. As you say though, to YOU, it's a bigger deal but I don't think that applies to the majority.

Maybe.Im just going by the ticket sales and beamback. I was surprised at the lack of interest. Maybe its to do with price. Leeds in LC was about £12 from memory. Blackburn was £10 and we took 5-6000 to both of them. Bradford was £20,Leeds was what,£27. Are we just tight arses? Doesn't explain only 2000 at the beamback though.

For me the most amusing thing is the reaction of the section of Leeds fans.
You'd think they could roll over and sh*t Mars bars such is their imperiousness.
We are talking about a bit of paint on a statue for a player who, whilst a hero to some, was an utter git. Tell me, is the paint on there now? Yer man Bremner wouldn't have thought twice about taking a dump on the bloody thing and whilst I can't condone the actions there is some amusement to be had from it and particularly from the pious pontifications of the Milky Whites...

I( drove 60 miles to watch on the big telly in the freezing cold too. Perpas this thing with L666s is an age & where you come from thing? I'm 45 and was brought up in the Heavy Woollen District and I absolutely despise them and everything they stand for. Didn't help when I served as a plod in L666s South and had to spend every 2nd week down there; absolute scum (L666s fans not the plod....well not all of the plod ;-))

"Perhaps this thing with L666s is an age & where you come from thing? I'm 45 and was brought up in the Heavy Woollen District and I absolutely despise them and everything they stand for." I thought it dated back to 1919? My lad is only 18 and 'hates' them too Brought up the right way

I don't think it's an age thing, i'm only 20 years old and as you can tell have an immense dislike for the Yids. I put my own hatred down to growing up surrounded by Leeds or Man Utd fans in the 90's. Couldn't stand the smug bastards. the only way i got into football was by supporting Liverpool on the telly, until the day my good friends introduced me to the Terriers. Still to this day hate both Leeds and Man utd with a passion. Leeds more, for obvious reasons.
