Hmm.
Did they get a "good hiding" just for being there... or were they causing trouble?
The Vulcan, of all the pubs to go to in Huddersfield...

I think you'll find that the Vulcan is owned and run by a L**ds fan, and has been for about 15 years!!

I thought The Vulcan was taken over by a couple from Sunderland... not saying they couldn't be Leeds fans... but it would make more sense for them to support the Black Cats.

So they got a good hiding for sitting in a pub? Very brave I must say. Since when is it a crime to sit in a pub wearing the footy shirt of an opposing team?

i,v got to word this right other wise i might get slated by both sides of the fence.....personally i think whoever sits in the town main pub a few hrs having played them with l**ds shirts on are asking for bother......if i were to go in l**ds or the peacock last saturday with my town shirt on i would ov got a good hiding,,,,,i would rather have a pint NOW with opposing fans than have bother, now 5-10 years ago when i also were stupid i would ov probably kicked off as well but now i wont because i,v grown up a little and think differently....but in all honesty i can understand why it happened,,,taking the piss springs to mind,,,,,the HYC are mostly in there 20,s and 30,s and dont take it lightly this sort ov thing, they just dont like been taken the piss out of,,,,,i know its wrong in a kind of way but its asking for trouble simple as,,,,,,so in my view i havent any sympathy SORRY...and besides living i huddersfield you should be a town fan and not a l**ds fan...smiley winky thing.........lets have a vote on this,,,,,is it ok to go around huddersfield last saturday with l**ds united shirts on and not expected to get any bother....my answere is TUFF TITTY........TTID

Were they really wearing Leeds shirts? Can't see it myself, but i wouldn't know, not there. If they were it was sheer stupidity on their part.
I thought it was just some lads known to be Leeds fans and the Town lads got to know about it and went down to sort em out.
Which one is nearest the truth?

If your in town on such a day, town fan or not,you dont go in Vulcan inviting it! The Vulcan in my experiance has been a Town stronghold for the past 18yrs.Quality pub, quality beer, quality people. Are we now saying the Vulcan is the new Crescent?Vulcan til I die, sound pub! If its true, they got what they deserved. As said above, you wouldnt hav gone in the Peacock.

If they had gone there looking for trouble then they found it and got what they deserved but if they were just sitting there having a quiet beer then what happened was bang out of order. Russ, we're from the same era, I ran with the pack when I was a kid but if I had my time over then I wouldn't do it now. In our day fights happened between people who wanted it. These days the so called "firms" are just as likely to attack easy targets as they are to scrap with each other. Not saying that didn't happen in our day but it was less likely. Is The Vulcan THE main pub now? Since The Crescent closed down I have no idea if there is a "main" pub. I've been in there a few times before games and seen no sign of the guys that used to frequent The Crescent. So if I don't know that The Vulcan is supposed to be our "main" pub, do you think L***s fans would? Maybe they go in there at other times without their shirts and decided to go in there after the game and thought they'd be ok. I agree with you Russ when you say people from Huddersfield should support their home town team but we all know that people move around the country so much these days it's not inconceivable that people from L***s now live in Huddersfield. If they're Huddersfield born and none of their family have L***s connections then it winds me up too but would I "give them a good hiding" because of it? No I wouldn't. I'll agree they were a bit silly wandering around Huddersfield with their L***s shirts on but another part of me says why the hell shouldn't they? The days of being attacked for wearing the wrong footy shirt shoud be long gone. I thought that only happened in Poland these days

If they were a calling it on in your pub in their Paul & Shark, Aquascutum etc, then they deserved a slap, but to smack replica shirters is a no-no whichever side you are on.

your right what your saying!!!if i had my time all over again i wouldent of done what i,v done i,v been bang out of order many times....i,m 43 now going on 44 and like i say i would rather have a pint now with opposing fans, instead of going in the home ends away from home, throwing bricks, attacking the linesman ect ITS WRONG,,,,,BUT if i were to call peole who still do this i would be a hypacrit because i,v worn the t-shirt......me and my drinking pals who are not hooligans have been out numbered a few times in the last few years and nearly got our heads kicked in by other firms looking for bother!!!i,v had to confront them face to face and tell them to fk off and look for people who want bother[too old,too slow, and alot wiser now]i will give them there due they fked off,,,,,also people wearing shirts SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE but if you go in a town pub on the day of the match i have no sympathy,,i dont know what happened but i,m just giving my opinion,,,,,,i know our firm and are good set of lads and i,v never seen them attack INNOCENT PEOPLE,,,they like a ruck with there own kind and if they want this then fair enough in my eyes,,,,like i say in my eyes now i try to keep out of bother and keep my head low,,,,i like to sing our team onto victory and get hammered once a week on a saturday with my mates.....anyway .,,,take care,,,,,,HUDDERSFIELD TIL I DIE

think this should be cleared up,the leeds fans were not shirters, they were in a mob of about 70 ,most of who got stopped getting off the train, they went to the vulcan as they know the pub from boxing nights at the sports centre, make no mistake they came for trouble but bit off more than they could chew, again these were trouble makers as chants of service crew were sung before the town lads got there, all dressed in gear not replica shirts, came hrs after a home game in a town pub ,why else ,they thought town were a soft touch, like i mentioned very arrogant.

Was there trouble at town station too with Town, Leeds and Derby fans coming back from Man U, i heard something on those lines?

Well as I said if they went looking for trouble and found it then I have no sympathy. Unfortunately this kind of thing never stops there, it can escalate and innocent people can get attacked.
Like you Russ i'm not going to wholeheartedly condemn the guys as i've been there done that but surely as we have been there ourselves and we admit it was wrong, surely we should be saying those days should be long gone and have no place in modern football.

You will never stop football related violence. You see it abroad on holiday! its a siege mentality, balconys draped with HTFC banners and other clubs?. I remember once in Corfu, West Hams ICF, attacking Northerners. They soon met their match, when a load of Man City fans arrived.
