So he's been the invisible man so far this season, makes me think what has caused this, usually at start of seasons he tends to be quite good.....then i realised. Didnt he lose his younger brother in a car crash at start of the season?
I'm not sure about you, but if this happened to me i'd probably be in a state of depression for a good while after it, and my mind certianly would not be on my job.......
Just a thought......

agree with that theory. i cant imagine what i'd do if i lost my brother. all credit to AR tho for keeping faith in him through this no doubt difficult stage of Scoffers life.

he did lose his brother and I agree that it must be incredibly hard for him at the moment. I think Ritchie's bearing this in mind as he keeps playing him even when he's having off days. If Ritchie dropped Danny at the moment it would probably take him even longer to regain his confidence, I keep seeing glimpses of the Danny of old, just really wish he'd take a leaf out of Kamara's book!

He always seems to be an easy target for the whingers. There's a guy behind me who slags Danny off during the pre-match warm-up (I ain't kidding ). He is still young enough and good enough to make an impression at this, if not Championship, level.

I don't think he was crap before though, Danny always had the ability to change a game around and he scared defenders shitless.

to be honest he hasn't hit the heights (just like most town players) since the 2005/06 season. back then he was a magician! still remember his goal at home to bournemouth. what a beaut!
im sure he'll come good, but maybe not at town. apparently still interested in hull city left winger stuart elliott. and i if was a straight contest between elliott and schofield, elliott would certainly win.

not sure to be honest. knowing town it probably was a undisclosed amount. but scoffers is out of contract at the end of the season and so is stuart elliott, but i think elliott will be leaving hull in the transfer window next month.

Yes schofield lost his brother earlier in the season but i think if the lads not over it yet ritchie should put him on the bench for a few weeks. We could play cadamarteri there thats if we ever see him again.

For a start, Danny Schofield was not "crap before" - I mean, please.
This is a player with great, great potential.
As for putting him on "the bench for a few weeks", my personal feeling is that you never get over these sort of tragic events in your life.
Losing your sibling takes years and perhaps decades to come to terms with.
He could still be a Town 'great'.

Stick with Danny. why not? staurt elliott is the better of the two players and has a great track record in this division (scored 29 goals as a left-winger a few years ago). we can create the space required to get him by letting both scoffers and brando go in january. although the best option would be not to get rid of anyone and be able to sign elliott

awful loosing your brother but come on he was crap before Not in a million years was he crap before! i rem in 06 he was our best player ocnsitently, he used to terrorise defenders, I remeber one goal specifically, cant rem who it was against but he dribbled from the left wing and scored a scorcher into the top corner. I think people react in different ways, only when people go thru it will we know how we would respond. If this is all the case thets just hope that maybe it changes his attitude on life, i.e u only get 1 shot at things, and maybe it will spur him on, no doubt the xmas period wil be extremly hard for him and thus i expect poor performances until january.

upthe town are you talking about the goal he seemed to score from the byline? I still don't know how he got it in the net from that position. that really was Danny at his best.

I haven't been impressed by scoffer for a while now, seemed to have potential but if it's not gonna be fulfilled I think we'd be best getting rid. Ritchie obviously thinks that he's mentally stable enough to play, so it might just be that he's a bit crap after all.....

Firstly, losing a brother must be a terrible thing for Danny Schofield to go through. I know, my own brother died at 23 years of age.
However, despite obvious ability, he has always been inconsistent. He has always drifted in and out of games and rarely over his Town career has he put in a run of good performances. I rate Danny's ability, and he can do things no other Town player can, but he does not affect games enough. Wrong Boy talks about him as a player with potential, but how long has he been in the first team? At least 5 or 6 seasons. When is he going to realise his potential?
Personally I would love to see a player of Schofield's ability succeed, but he has been inconsistent for many seasons now and the clock is ticking. Losing his brother is a personal tragedy and we all feel for him (me, perhaps, more than most), but we must not let our sympathy cloud the issue. He produces one decent performance every half dozen games and is that enough?

I can't think of 1 game this season where he's played well.
L***s attacked down that side every time the keeper got the ball as they knew he'd be out of position. Every time Williams got the ball Scoffer was nowhere to be seen.
Whenever he receives the ball he always goes backwards instead of taking the player on.
I don't know how he's retained his place in the team.

IMO Schofield had at best half a dozen performces in the year before the tragedy with his brother. He’s not young, he’ll be 28 in April. He has maybe five years left in him to fulfil his promise! We all know what a talent he is on his day, but how many other players have we said that about; Baldry, Makel, Burnett etc IMO Schofield messed us around when he signed his current contract, he took an age to sign it, two articles DS contract negotiations started (dated 21st November 2005) www.4thegame.com/club/huddersfield-town-fc/news/180566/schofield_set_to_stay/ DS contract signed (dated 8th March 2006) www.4thegame.com/club/huddersfield-town-fc/news/186652/schofield_to_pen_terriers_deal/ For now he is in the team and still has 6 months to show he deserves a new deal, the ball is really in his court IMO, if he doesn’t improve his current level of performance he deserves to be released in the summer.

Got to agree with the past few comments.
I often find myself saying schofield has potential, has natural talent but then remember he is nearly 28 now.
To be honest, i think he has recovered remarkebly from his persona tragedy - unless you've been in his position i don't think anyone could imagine exactly what it is like.
But 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there are not good enough. If he is involved in play in other words, eg) defensively, his end product wouldn't be as important. Unfortunately he doesn't.
We have carried him in far too many games this season, and to be honest the past few seasons. Accrington away was dredaful, leeds away the same.
Its a shame - he has got natural talent and when on form , he's a pleasure to watch but imo his decision making ie) when to shoot, when to cross, when to pass and his movement off the ball will always limit his ability.
His best position is in a 352 behind the strikers in a free role, but he limits us on the left in a 442 and he certainly cannot play as part of a 3 in a 451/433.
He was more lively and productive against bristol in the first half but disappeared in the 2nd.
Shame.

I don't think Danny's brother died in a car crash. The story I heard was that he choked on his own vomit after a heavy night out. After such a personal tragedy, this was always going to be a tough season for the guy,so Id like to see the club offer him another year on his contract where ,hopefully, he can show the undoubted talent he has on a more consistant frequency. If he can't after that, then we should finally give up on him and look elsewhere.

how much did we pay for him?
we signed him from bodwich something or other united was it? for a set of goal post and few match balls as i remember. and how many years service has he given this club?
I would say give him another years contract and keep faith in him
and then maybe move him on for a fee. don't see any sense in releasing him
ok he has his faults but he is a decent asset. that said if he isn't playing well enough I agree he needs to be dropped for a while regardless

Either way, its fair to say ritchie wants a left winger - he has said as much himself.
Its then a question of schofield or brandon - whilst brandon was on top form at the start of the season, we haven't seen him at all since.
I think most would prefer brandon to go out of the two...my guess is to scunthorpe.
