hopefully we managed to get rid of a few more players, our squad is too big for my liking. maybe we can shift a few more when the loan window opens.
i reckon we can manage without a keeper.

Agreed, I think we play better with only 10 on the pitch anyway!

No worse "humour" than in the other thread. Am sure Rhodsey will now say he was just joshing, but this has been bubbling and now folk cant wait to moan. LC and DH wont sign players for the sake of it, they have to be the right players and if they cant/wont be made available what can they do? Sign another striker with a poor record? Another slow CB? I am very underwhelmed, but theres a long way to go yet this season and I think even with what we have we are good enough for the playoffs anyway.

Here we go... sorry but i think we may have shot ourselves in the foot here. if it is as you say a case of missing our targets then it was naive of us to let decent players go first without replacing them. of course, we could announce something tomorrow, but it is worrying. isnt it?

I agree on not letting NC go before a replacement was brought in.

The "emergency" loan window re-opens in a week, so still room for additions

Very. But other than Theo the only one who has gone I would want back is Carey and it sounds like they tried to do that anyway. Dean is a fan and sees what we see, but that doesnt mean he should cut off his nose to spite his face. He could have cashed Pilks in for a lot of money but didnt, so you could look at it that he has invested by keeping the squad intact. I can see some loans soon.

Tend to agree we could of shot oursleves in the foot big time.....we can get loans but it will hard to get anyone of real quality....tought we might have gone for it!! Right, calm down everyone. LC has always said that he continually checks and keeps tabs on players and has his targets that he won't reveal - for obvious reasons. He's also said, repeatedly, that he won't make signings for the sake of it, he'll only bring in players that can make a difference - the right players. Now we don't know what steps, if any, other than getting Cads, LC has made, so talk of shooting ourselves in the foot is the usual negativity seen so often on here. I'm not overly impressed with getting Cads back because of his injury record, but, if he stays fit then he can be a good winger/cover for Robbo & Pilks in case of injury and/or suspension and/or loss of form. Presuming that no other announcements are made tomorrow, then we don't know whether LC made no attempts to get new players/those he wanted weren't available/he plans to try the loan market. So let's just leave it there. We have who we have and my goodness we should be grateful for what we have, compared to previous seasons. Yes it would have been nice, maybe, ignoring the "time to gell" effect, to have had another striker in, but we'll never know what efforts were made. So no more talk of shooting ourselves in the foot, or, we should've got someone in, or, we won't now get promoted, Keep the Faith. :udders:

He could have cashed Pilks in for a lot of money but didnt, so you could look at it that he has invested by keeping the squad intact. I can see some loans soon. we havent though, thats the problem.. no point keeping your stars if you dont have a squad to back them up. i might be being a bit kneejerk tonight but thats because i feel we have caused ourselves unecessary problems (in the players we have let go). at the start of the window i thought our squad was probably good enough and we didnt need much, i thought we needed to work with what we had and if the opportunity arose to replace a player like for like with a bit of quality then great.. for example send garner back and work on getting someone straight in. or keep him. he is better than no striker, just as clarke is better than no cb. rhodes got injured last week and it became pretty essential he was replaced ASAP. you have a list of targets ranging from ambitious to ones you can get and you start from the top and bring one in - so you dont have to be fannying around hours before deadline when teams cant get replacements and inflate their players fees. if rumours are to be believed (to be fair it could be bollocks) why are we ENQUIRING about le fondre today? why not enquire last week? we may well have had targets ahead of him, but a) if he is good enough to sign on the last day then he should be good enough to sign the week before b) why not enquire so you know where you stand in advance? give them time to sweat? even today i didnt think a cb was essential as we had kadar - he is now injured. our decent cb backup clarke is helping rivals. not a fan of short term loans, apart from kelly how many have worked out? then we have this 'will only buy players good enough for the championship' which in theory is logical and all, but we are in league 1!! and will remain there unless we have a proper squad of players. this was a bit of an emergency, we need a balance of quality and numbers and if it ment signing a steady L1 player (or should i say keep the ones you have!) i would probably be more confident than i am at this moment in time. plenty of sides have signed L1 players and gone up.. leeds norwich and millwall were hardly packed with quality, they had a few key players and then steady L1 players. as i say still time to announce, but if its loans we are relying on i wont be anywhere near as confident as i was pre january. ps i am not having a go about lack of investment

Plenty of goals there IMO. Afobe is ready to rumble IMO, Lee will grown in confidence after Sunday, cads will chip in as will Novak and then our leading scorer will return. It's keeping the opposition out which more concerns me

Dont think its being negitive mate its just my opinion we should have push on but instead it looks like we let players go without replacing them and the loan market can be very hit and miss nobody is going to let goal scorer go on loan, guess im just disappointed Cads is an ok signing by me hes there to cover the wings like Clark has said but we are short upfront 3 players who have scored 2 league goals between them doesnt fill me with confidence Novak is badly out of form, Lee had a great game at Arsenal hope he kicks on but doesnt hide the fact he has been gash up until sunday and Afobe it seems cant play ever game.....I really hope Clark can pull something out of the bag we need that 2nd automatic place.
