I reckon he's worth more than that to us. I'd be dissapointed if he left for anything less than £3 million.

Why? Surely we're in a position to demand more? If they don't wanna pay it then we get to keep a quality player for another year at the least. Win win situation in my eyes. I wouldn't be looking to sell any of our under contract players at their actual valuation unless we desperately need the money or want rid. Either they pay a bit over the odds or we keep them here.

please no, let this be bulls**t.
This would feel as bad as the defeat at old trafford and a pure kick in the angel falls.
Pilkington, if you read this thread, please please please dont go. I know the lure of the Premier must be extremly hard to resist but you are only 23 so theres plenty of time for that. Just one more season at least to get us out of this league so we can attract quality replacements.

Get a grip with your high valuations! We should be snapping their hands at that price!
1.75m for a League One footballer with a recent carrer ending injury? Deano should be saying "show me the money"

Paul Lambert ain't stupid and I just can't see him risking £2/3 mil on a player who has suffered such a major injury and has every chance of returning a shade of the player he was.
Then again that maybe the reason we should sell. If Pilks come back and is a shadow of the player he was we'll all be wishing we'd have sold him.
It's just as much a risk to us keeping him as it is for any club who buys him.

I dont see any mileage in this rumour myself, if he hadnt suffered his injury then I would have perhaps believed it.

Deano should be saying "show me the money" In my ungripped view we could hold on to him and sell him for that same price, or as near as, next year. However, if we go up his valuation would rise in the Championship and we could sell him for a lot more. We are in the driving seat aren't we?

For a League One player £1.75m is a very good offer. However, we're not in a position where we need to sell unless the player wants to leave, so something around that price would probably be negotiated if Pilks actually tells Hoyle and Clark he would like to speak to Norwich. In that case I reckon we could get them to £1.75m plus a percentage of any future fees, plus maybe Cody McDonald, or at least McDonald on a season long loan with an agreed price if we want him at the end of the season.

What loyalty would that be then ? The rehab, The quality of the medical care, Him staying with the squad and travelling to every game, which will come at a cost, Are you suggesting that the club haven't shown loyalty? The club looking after a very valuable asset is all.

just think what 2.5million could do at this level!

Jameshudd72 maybe I'm just more romantic about the idea of how the club treats it's players and how our players feel about the club

If he wants to go we might as well let him go, subject to a reasonable offer or he might take the huff.
As a side point, Harry R. said the other day that managers don`t really talk to players until a deal is done when terms are then haggled on.
Agents virtually run the game now.

And so it begins...
If the rumours are to be believed, Peltier is already on his way and looks as though Pilks could be too. I'm sure we could command decent fees for these 2 players, but its the replacements I'm concerned about.
Peltier was far from his best last season, but he was still in my eyes one of our better players which tells you everything you need to know. Pilkington on his day, as others have pointed out, is easily as good as Snodgrass so is definitely top-end Championship if not Premiership class.
Looking around there aren't many people, who for me, are as good as these two and would be "realistic" targets. Hopefully they're nothing more than rumours and we can strengthen the squad rather than have to rebuild.

If Leeds have said they want £8m for Snodgrass, we shouldn't accept anything less than that either. Snodgrass is a quality player but so is Pilks. Pilks is as good if not better than Snodgrass so Hoyle should be as stuborn as Ken Bates.

If its true then he will be off and good luck to the lad...still think we could hold of for £2.5m-£3m given the fact that Stoke and Wolves are aparently also interest....for all we know Pilks could have been in training and will be absolutley fine by pre season in that case its and as much as a gamble!!

Not that the Express is much good, but the Mirror has probably nicked it off the former. Be very surprised if they have made a bid like that. I agree The National Papers speculate different players everyday. It's when the local rag starts speculating I start to worry. Pointless having newspapers then! According to these people they are wrong, so why read them?

[ I've heard it said that Norwich are thinking of the future, buying in these recognised players with a view to getting relegated from the premiership but being good enough to challenge to get back out of the Championship. Not exactly a great sense of ambition if you ask me.
Hey guys and gals canaries fan here in peace just enjoying reading around pilkington on your forum had to bring up this point though I can assure you the reason we are buying those players is to establish a squad of players. Lambert is wary of what happened to blackpool last season with tiring of the squad also two quick promotions left us with only 14-17 players capable of even having a chance in the top level hence we are buying numbers right now as apposed to one or two players at bigger prices.
Whether Pilkington ends up with you or us I wish him well and your side because Huddersfield is a good club.

my point was in no circumstances are we just building for next season in the championship but over a long period of time with young hungry players who can help us in the top flight.
