Some people are seriously overrating him, better than CMS and Chamberlain? If he was, he'd be wanted by bigger clubs than Norwich

now all we need are Liverpool to come in with an absolutely bonkers offer. We'll be minted.

If sell him what then, with Clarks scattergun approach to buying players we'd have to sign 4 or 5 to get a good one. We really could do with a few more Lionel Ainsworths or Robbie Simpsons to have to pay off. The transfer noises around potential transfer activity are very worrying and I cannot believe that people are quite prepared to see us let our best players go and replace them with in the most part names plucked out of a hat. There's going to be some disappointed folk on here when we don't piss the league with 100 points. Think this statement is bollocks. Hav clarks signings really been that bad?! The only ones that spring to mind are Simpson and ainsworth. Everyone cud see that ainsworth had talent but his head wasn't right and it didn't work out. The Simpson one was a bad signing, not defending that one. I don't think Lee was a bad signing coz that was the type of player that everyone was cryin out for at the time. Look at the players he's bought, pilks, Rhodes, peltier! Overall their value could be around 4 or 5 million. They were signed for less than a million so I think that's pretty good business and Clark obviously has an eye for promising talent! I would trust him with the money and reckon he would spend it wisely!

What nobody seems to have discussed in any detail is "What would we do with the money" - as opposed to quite a few saying what we could do with the money.
DH could keep the money and use it to offset his losses thus far or mitigate his losses in the coming season. In other words help balance the books. I for one doubt he'll do that because it is contrary to his avowed intent to get us into the Championship and the current squad came so near, the target is too close to back off now.
DH could authorize LC to spend the money on one direct and hopefully like for like replacement so that we wouldn't miss Pilks. Obvious problem with that is where do we find such a direct replacement, even given that level of money?
DH could authorize LC to spread the money around and get a few extra players in (the most likely scenario given the difficulty of getting a direct replacement.) Two problems with that, one that would buy a lot of players at this level but all on here agree we don't need a lot of players. This current squad was virtually good enough to go up last season and most agree we only need the odd tweak to go up this season. Two, bringing in lots of new players raises the previously experienced problem again of the new players and the team bonding/gelling etc - cue another slow start to the season. Not good.
I don't know what Pilks is worth in this age of madness - whatever you can get for him. There is no doubting his innate talent and ability, as someone else said, one of, if not the, most talented players I've seen at Town. But let's not forget that there were times on here when plenty of posters were (quite rightly) criticising him for his attitude, being anonymous in games, not trying, needs dropping to shock him etc. Good though he is, there have been long periods when he hasn't played to his potential.
Personally the only reason I'd agree with for letting him go, whatever the price, 2, 3 or 4M, is if he wants to go, has his head turned. To keep him then would mean us depriving him of his desired chance to play in the Premiership and running the risk that with his proven (at times) dodgy temperament, he may not play to his potential and in that sense we'd lose him anyway.
Let's coax him back to fitness, let him play this coming season in League 1 where he'll outclass most of his opposition, thereby boosting his morale and confidence after that horrible injury. If he comes back as good as before and/or improves, we get the benefit on field through his contribution to results and off field with his increased value.
Don't sell!!!!!!

Do Stockport have a % sell on clause? If so any one know how much???

If we did get £2m for him then that wouldn't necessarily buy "lots of players" at this level. We could spread that over 2/3 quality additions to the squad who might not necessarily be as good as Pilks, but when you add all 3 to the team, make the team all the better for it.

That was rumoured but then it came out that the only one Stockport didn't sell was the Pilks one, so i believe it still stands and was 25%

Do Stockport have a % sell on clause? If so any one know how much??? Pfft.. do they ever. It's in the region of 20-25%. Remember hearing this from a very reliable source at Stockport when there was ongoing whispers" that Pilks would leave in January. Said person is no longer at Stockport.

Lets be honest where a selling club, every club is apart from maybe Madrid and Man City we will have a figure that we seem as acceptable if they offer that Pilks will be gone and you cant blame him.

I wouldn't mind him going to Norwich if they splash at least 2 million up front.
I would wish him all the best. Norwich are a decent club, and I hope they can stay up next season.

How could anyone question his loyalty if he were to leave?!
As nearly proven, by his injury last season, a footballer's career could end in an instant!
If a premier league team came in for him, and I for one think he'll be quite lucky if it's true, then he'd be absolutely mad to turn it down and carry on playing in league one.

If someone bid £2m for Pilks we'd be mad not to accept it. Lets face it, Norwich are buying the best players from the Championship and League 1 for a prem season. Looks like they are gearing up for another shot at the Championship in 2012/13. I've nothing against Norwich. Went to see town away against them in 2000 it was a lovely place to go to. The away stand was a shed and the stewards told us to be quite but the City fans made a good noise and there was none of the usual wankers I've seen at most away games. If we do sell Pilks, good luck to him, he'll always be welcome at town by me.
Also, could Cody Mcdonald not be part of this deal?
EDIT: I think Norwich will "do a Burnley" in that, they'll have a good start then Lambert will leave to a midtable team (Sunderland as lets face it, if Bruce doesn't start with them on fire he is gone) and Norwich will go down.

Its gunna happen, its a great move for him and if we get near to 2 million it will the second higest fee for us after we got 2.7 for Boothy, yeah... 2.7 million all those years ago....unbelievable tbh. I would hope that Clark would be allowed to use some of this fee to strngthen even more

It's 30% of >£350k, ie anything above £350k. Which IMO isn't good for us as it would mean a sizeable chunk going to Stockport.

If Norwich bid 2M let him go, you can't stand in the way of him going to a Premiership club.

2 mill for an injured player who may not come back as good as he was?the same player half the posters on this thread wanted dropping a few months into the season saying he was shit and his head had been turned?norwich or any other club would be stupid to bid for a player with an injury as bad as his :violent: we dont owe stockport a bean either we paid em off,if there is a bid, which i dont think will come till he proves his fitness it should be cash up front ,plus a couple of loans from whoever buys him.

Horrendous injury only a few months ago. Not been able to prove his fitness yet. Stepping up two divisions.
Would he even pass a medical for another club at the current time?
