New Barrack Tavern was a good option on the way to the ground last year. Good ale and a decent atmosphere..

New Barrack Tavern was a good option on the way to the ground last year. Good ale and a decent atmosphere.. BTW, middle of the Upper Lepp is the best view in the away end, these will be the first tickets to go on sale too as this is the first place they sell from, imvho buying a ticket now will get you the best seat in the entire away end, bang in the centre on the upper. I went on the lower lepp from time to time in our Premiership days when other parts were sold out as a last resort.

Ill probably go in there again although the lower tier did look a good laugh. Not sure they had any other option than to jump around that night as it was f**king siling it down :iconlol:

Thinking of doing the same. We didn't seem to have many in it last season but it was a night match tbf. Hoping we sell out.

going by car to this for first time due to work, whats the parking like? Leave the M1 at Junction 36 and follow the A61 into Sheffield. Continue along the A61 for approximately eight miles. You will see Hillsborough Stadium on your right. This is not the shortest route to the ground, but this is definitely the easiest and avoids Sheffield City Centre. There is some street parking to be had if you arrive early, otherwise there are some unofficial car parks along the A61 that charge in the region of £3. There is a car park directly behind the Kop and the Wednesday Club shop. It is called the wednesdayite car park and is open to fans of both teams. It costs £5 for visitors. Alternatively, you may find it easier to park at Meadowhall Railway Station, just by Junction 34 of the M1, where you can park for free and then take a yellow tram to Leppings lane, which costs £3 return and takes about 35 minutes.

Theres been few anti Wednesday comments (& Wed fans having a pop at Town) on here lately & personally I think it would be great if they were to come up with us this time--clearly they can have 2nd spot though ! Ive drunk round ground in some of the aforementioned pubs and never had problems but have had when around Bramall Lane so would always take Owls over Blades

As a Town fan best parking advice is get there early and claim some of the free on street parking in Hillsborough (take out Town stickers etc) facing back towards Stocksbridge A616 bypass which brings you back into Udders in New Mill/Holmfirth---IGNORE any A629 Hudds signs and you will be back in the Udders within 45 mins or so

Read some of his posts pig, he's as mad as a box of frogs is Nick. He's probably changed his mind 8 times, about the upper/lower tier debate, since he wrote that.

Last year I parked in Middlewood at the tram stop but I think that costs over £3 so probably not worth it.
There should be a fair bit of street parking if you get there early. The best way is to drive though Shepley and then over the tops, doesn't take too long and if you follow that road it leads to Hillsborough.

Just walk there, your feet won't hurt a bit, and you'll be dry as a bone by the time you reach Hillsborough.

I got there 5 misn after kick-off last year due to the awful traffic on that single carridgeway that runs for miloes and got parked in the street right next to the turstiles. I would recommend coming off at Meadowhall if you are coming via the M1 (jct 34) as even with the shopping traffic it tends to be quicker. I'll never come off at 36 again, that's for sure.

Halifax Road that leads down to Hillsborough is a nightmare.. If you are travelling from Hudds the best way is to go on the topside of penistone (passing through Shepley, High Flatts etc) through thurgoland and wortley, take a right (signposted) stocksbridge, then an immediate left onto woodhead road. This road will then take you through Grenoside and Fox Hill and will drop you at the bottom of Halifax Road near the ground. It will save you time and no speed cameras! Well only one just before you get to the traffic lights at Thurgoland.

Might do a 'rehearsal' of this detour as I'm going to visit a friend in Grenoside this Sunday. We always go over the tops to Wednesday. The A61 was awful last year.
