We'll see how ambitious the boy is then, I guess.

And where will this leave Arfield? He certainly does a good job playing on the right side of midfield in order to cover the marauding Jack Hunt. However, when Hunt's attacking prowess is nullified (e.g. Charlton game) Arfield seems to lack the creative edge/lightening pace required to unlock defences. Surely we can't afford to play a 'watercarrier' at the expense of a true right winger. I for one, hope Clark starts playing attacking wingers on either side again.

At 5 o'clock this eve, the Wendy 'massive' will be down to 3rd and they'll not venture above said position again this season.

Why sign another winger?most people were saying that Ward and Mcdermott would rip this league up,so far they've done nothing add Robinson to that as well. It's about time they started producing the goods,or do we still have to give them time it nearly christmas! So let's get this Marshall fella and wait six months for him to come good. The season will be over by the time these guy's start to produce. If you listen to what Wendies fans have to say, this lad is absolute quality.......he hasn't taken 6 months to settle in there, so don't see he would do here!!! For me it would serve 2 purposes-Deprive one of our main rivals of their best players and add to us by adding a confident, pacy winger to the team....something we haven't had this season!!!!

If we're interested in him, why didn't we sign him on loan?

Wednesday have put him in their side and let him play himself in to form and not kicked him to the bench after a dodgy performance (which he had a couple of early doors). Whereas our wingers play iffy and get kicked out of the side to the bench or even out of the squad all together. Who's to say that if we had signed Marshall in the summer, he wouldn't have suffered the same fate as the rest of our wingers have this season as he certainly wouldn't have had the continual run of games he has had at Wednesday.
I've seen him play a couple of times and when he, Roberts, Ward and Mcdermott are all on form there is very little between them. Perhaps he has more consistency to his game...who knows

I think its his consistency which is attractive topic - certainly the wed fans i speak to have raved about his performances (which is perhaps somewhat surprising given goals and assists record?! Maybe its the space he creates for others which is telling?) Our wide men have been infuriatingly inconsistent for some time now - not sure if its down to them as individuals or the fact we are more solid elsewhere which means they arent getting the ball as early or as productively as in previous seasons when roberts in particular had a tremendous assists/goals record. Dont think we need a new wide man personally, as if we do then LCs signing of mcdermott looks strange to say the least - what we need is to get an extra 10% from 3 or 4 of the team most weeks so we can nick some extra results and win promotion at long bloody last!

"Cynic mode on"
Stoke want to sell this Marshall to Weds in the transfer window for around £500,000 Weds are talking about £300,000. Stoke feed a story to the madia that Weds rivals, Town, are ready to bid £500,000 in January. Weds up their bid to £500,000. Marshall signs for Weds. Town, having never shown an interest in the player, have been used to squeeze the extra out of the Weds.
Stoke happy - they get there money. Weds happy - they get their man. Town, ambivalent to the whole story, go for their own targets during the window.

If any of our wingers were given a run in the side they'd be getting rave reviews. If we can sell roberts and replace him with marshall for not much more, I'd be happy with that. Yes, robbo is a top player, but long term I don't think he'd cut it where we want to be

His load is up in January, but don't get to excited, he has stated he wants to stay and sign for us, Pulis and Megson are very good mates so personally cannot see Pulis selling him to one of our promotion rivals, if it's about finance then Milan will get involved, that Mail report is tripe but believe what you want.

We really don't want / need another winger to come here, not perform / sit on our bench / in the stands / loan him out / pay him off
If Clark went to Hoyle and asked him for another 500k to spent on the above, whilst at the same time having to fork out £x to pay up McDermott's contract then I would hope the answer would be "no"....

Question re. McDermott. Could he play up front with Rhodes dropping off the striker a la Van Der Vaart? Might get us playing some decent football again.
