A reinsntall will take 30 minutes maximum. You’re having a laugh, right? Oh here we go....trying to pick fault. Why dont you look further up and try to pick fault with the advice i gave on how to remove virii or what the root cause of his problem was? I know exactly what im talking about!! |

Yep. Credit where it's due. Waterloo went miles out of his way -- and beyond the call of duty - in trying to help me out, for which I'm massively grateful.
I'm sure by following his advice this time round, I won't be in this mess again.

Im not getting into a technical argument with you because this stuff is my bread and butter........ but if he has the original (Restore) disks then it will take no more than 30 mins. If he has his OS and associated software on a hidden partition as is the standard these days, then again the process will be very quick.
The first thing i do is take an image/clone of any PC/Server i build so i can restore it straight back using something like Ghost or one of the many free cloning tools.
I blitz my PC/Laptop/Servers almost weekly in some case 2 or 3 times a night depending on my work/study requirements
Even as a basic home user if it takes you longer than 30 mins then your not making the best of the tools available that dont force you down the labourious process of installing everything piece meal.
Feel free to ask for advice on any of the tools that will help.

I was merely pointing out that reinstalling a Windows system in thirty minutes is unrealistic. How long did it take? Haven't done it yet, planning to do it this weekend. If I have the original disc, is it as simple as saying "restore factory settings" or are there things I should do for a pain-free re-install (like dealing with partitions?)? |
