The past was yours but the future's mine indeed. Pah. Still, I suppose part of being grown up and middle aged is realising that the bands have never, ever been about anything else other than making money. And I hope Ashley is nicer to the Stone Roses fans than he is to his own.

To be fair to the Stone Roses they are one of the few bands in my mind from my youth with a reputation totally unsullied by rubbish end of career records or a slow decline into mediocrity.
They need a few bob. I will not be there. Good luck to them. I can watch them on me telly at Glastonbury. Probably.
Amateurs.

I think they're planning on a mediocre record to cash in with.

Rennies probably needs the cash but the other three have had moderately successful post-Roses careers, surely?

I don't reckon even being Jackson Pollock imitator pays anything like the easy ready cash they'll earn from a few badly-organised sell-out 'events'. And good lord if I could play guitar like that then I would want one last hurrah before I looked totally ridiculous. hello keith. And Brown must be skint. Just look at him. Mani probably earns a few bob granted.
I really hope that they don't do a half-arsed record. They inevitably will.

I was referring more to his Seahorses period, and presumably Squier/Brown also get a steady trickle of income for everything post "Sally Cinnamon" that gets bought by thekidsthesedays or played on the Radio or downloaded via Segwayfy or whatever. But yeah, if the Pixies got a million quid to reform then the deal on this one should be see them set for comfort for life.
The fucking depths they COULD sink to have possibly already been reached by Browneh, with his execrable cover of "Redemption Song", where he perfects his vocal impersonation of Ashlely the butcher's boy from Coronation Street.
But who else from that era is unsullied? Nirvana, obviously. And Cud. Don't forget Cud.

Bands I loved for periods in my youth with a pretty much unsullied reputation in my head ...
Field Mice The Smiths My Bloody Valentine The Stone Roses Spacemen 3 Thrilled Skinny
I never truly loved Nirvana. Sorry. I was a bit too old to be called youthful and had a proper job by the time they went off. And Cud drifted into dodgy territory if I remember correctly towards the arse-end of their career.

I more or less concur with your list, but don't you be going forgetting The Pastels, now. You're younger than me, tooitle. And I'm fairly sure I was only 18 or so when "Sliver" was released. I can't say I was an enormous fan and I obviously erased their name from my pencil case post "Nevermind" but for obvious reasons they can lay claim to unsullymentedness.

Mani is the only one who has always wanted the re-union, but ironically he's probably the only one who is sorted cash wise. Reni must be skint. Squire can't be exactly loaded and Brown is being done in a messy divorce.
They have written lots of new stuff. I'm crossing everything that it sounds like Ten Story Love Song and not Love Spreads.

I'm pretty sure I am a bit older than thou Bernice. Are you confusing me with me younger absent brother again? Add Sugarcubes to that list if ye like as well.

Possibly, possibly. So you're over 39, eh? What's it like?
Yeah, hmm, Sugarcubes, maybe. But whatever the one is about Björk being up the stick is, it's not a patch on "Birthday".

Hangovers have got easier as I've got older, but that's probably because I don't drink as much. and quitting smoking definitely helped.
I was a Nirvana fan. I'd say Alice in Chains were unsullied, but I'd be wrong. They'd gone even before Layne Staley finally did himself in.

Nearly 7 years since I quit Merkin. Ironically I wasn't in poverty then, but my financial situation has deteriorated since I quit.

Maybe things will pick up if you start again? The public services could certainly do with the extra tax. It is everyone's duty to start smoking - about the most efficient tax raising measure available.

....but Harold Camping has revised his predictions and says the world ends tomorrow
Doesn't that render any 'third coming' a bit redundant?
I liked F.E.A.R., but I think Brown is a bit of a c***

I've got one of those electronic cigarettes. It tastes like coffee and if I 'smoke' it in public, I look more of a twat than I usually do

I was really excited about this, until I remembered Ian Brown sings like Frank Gallagher after 40 fags and 10 pints.
I'm sure it will be memorable for the "millions" who went to Spike Island.
