I caught a bit of it on Danish news last night (which was particularly bizarre) - there was some sort of pie-ing incident, wasn't there? Initially it all looked a bit Zapruder-footage-esque which tweaked my interest but I was soon disappointed.

From what I am reading on other sites, the only plus point that came out of yesterday's flan fest is that most men are spoffing man milk on their keyboards on account of Louise Mensch.

I vaguely knew her at university (a couple of friends of mine who were at the same College as her appeared as minor characters in her first "novel"). She didn't sound quite so East Midlands in those days. I do have some fond memories of her campaigning tactics to get elected to the Union Society (mainly involving wearing very low cut dresses during debates - literally playing to the gallery). A bit of a rock chick - I remember general sniggering at the time when she spent a summer being a Metallica groupie. Seems to have paid off in the long run as she's recently married their manager (hence change of surname from Bagshawe (or Shagshaw/Bagshite depending on who was writing the John Evelyn gossip column in Cherwell) to Mensch).

That's not an East Midlands accent. Not a proper one anyway.
