I remember going to the home Tuesday night match when Chris Hay scored 2 very late goals to come back from 2 0 down (I was in the lower riverside near the away fans which went berserk, sure anyone else in there at the time will recall).
I also remember a very healthy midweek away following from Cardiff of circa 1500 was it? and many of them being `boyos`, not many families in their end!.
The atmosphere was nasty enough inside the ground and I believe this was the day where it all kicked-off outside the Crescent before the match due to the West Yorkshire Police herding them past this pub to the ground. This subsequently led to Cardiff fans suing the West Yorkshire Police for heavy-handed behaviour etc.
I cannot remember any trouble outside the ground or in Town that day (cant remember how I got there and back to be fair). Can anybody else recall this day and any events that unfolded during the day in Town, outside the Crescent etc?. It sounded from the media at the time like there had been boatloads of bother in Town and on the way to and forth the ground etc!.

I think they were expecting the Yids to turn up and have a pop, i remember it was a tasty night!! It was, a right atmosphere for a night match!. be careful re saying Yids, you will find yourself banished to some deep, dark prison somewhere and they will throw the key away. This is as bad a crime as putting the wrong rubbish in the wrong bin (again, viewed very dimly by the state). Repeat offences of house burglary, robbing People in the street, violence is all perfectly acceptable. Just a ticking off (due to you committing the crimes as a result of what life has thrown at you of course) and you get a small fine and community service.

The first game was postponed, they had about 300 on 5-6 coach loads (of non shirters lets say) in the Cherry Tree from about 6 o'clock, it was a late cancellation for some reason. The coaches were brought up from the ground along the mainstreet the area sealed off and they were bussed out though it was getting on 8.30.
The re-arranged fixture the same 5-6 coaches ( not the supporters club pop n crisp variety) dropped them in Manchester and they trained it in - which could well happen again Saturday?
The Crescent was rammed - both doors blocked off and Cardiff marched past, one of their lot was filming as WYP dished out some heavy handed public service which later cost them dear in court.
Even the town lot were held & escorted to the ground a good 10 mins later.
One lad jumped out of the lower tier after the equaliser and ran along the front of the away end up to the goals and back, he must surely have been carted off for correctional training.
The 3rd worlders, then all wound up, exited & congregated bottom of the slope by the coach park & it was mayhem afterwards, Town fans came a clear 2nd and the police failed miserably to control 200 in the area down to the bridge.

It was a bit naughty outside after the game, carnage, worst since the 80's.
Thought Irons scored one rather than Hay scoring both.

Interesting insight thanks Brick and confirmation that i thought things had got seriously tasty that day, without seeing anything myself!, sure I have read on here or heard somewhere that Cardiff fans are calling en-route in Manchester again. Would imagine that intelligence is better these days and everything will be covered-off. You never know though..........
