Apparently Town sent an email to the Huddersfield Town ladies team saying that they no longer want to be associated with them ! This is a team that won promotion last season and play in the Northern Premiership. Thought we were a family club - does not seem logical . Way we played yesterday think we could do with watching how to manage a successful team - not abandoning them.

Who cares...I know I don't. Let's sort our first team out before we sort out the ladies. That being said, I think some of those ladies could do a a job in midfield for the first team.

I am sure if we had fielded the ladies team they would have made more of a game of it and they are not on £5k a week upwards

Hammill would be a great manager for the ladies but might have to recruit every 9 months.

"...following a request to the Club for direct financial support, Town were unable to provide what the Ladies required."Blimey, we really are short of brass aren't we?

We're obviously selling out to a middle eastern businessman, and the disconnection with the ladies team is part of the sale agreement.

Can't imagine that the financial support asked for in the scheme of things would have been massive considering Towns love of all things community spirited. There again don't suppose Town would want to get too close to a successful team - that would never do !

Interestimg that article refers to the loose affiliation and agreement to use the name as being a left over from "pre new era" Town, but the Hudds Ladies website gives a March 2010 date?

So we lost our affiliation with the men's squad yesterday, Mark Robins and the ladies today - who's next?

Poor decision in my book. Many other football league clubs work with the women's teams using their name. The women's game is getting more popular in this country and more and more young girls are playing the game. A missed opportunity here for the club to develop greater community ties.

However you look at this, the statement on HTFC web site is lousy PR and doesn't reflect well on what is supposed to be a family and community based club. The support offered to the Ladies in both financial and any other form is nil and surely having a Ladies team playing in the Northern Premier, being successful and spreading the brand and name of Huddersfield Town virtually for free is a win win. Night of the long knives, more like getting to the last few minutes of The Godfather.

I know one of the players...they seem a nice bunch, many are Town fans themselves and to be honest I'm surprised and disappointed by this. I'd like to think they'd get access to Canalside, kits provided etc. The only other obvious expense is transport on matchdays...small beer surely

Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like they thought they were taking the piss with their demands, so kicked them into touch.

"As a gesture of goodwill, we will allow the Ladies team to continue to carry the Club’s name and use the for the upcoming 2014/15 season only." Warms my heart....
