Just hope Gale escapes being banned for the rest of the season now. ? Needs 3 more disciplinary points for a ban, Sky Sports reporting he could be in trouble for verbals at close of play yesterday. On a phone so can't do a link I'm afraid.

Think it works out as Notts needing to score at least 3 more points than Yorkshire in the next round of games for it to go to the final round, as if we both have the same result and they only claim 2 more bonus points than us, then we're 24 clear with 24 available and even if they got full batting and bowling points in the final game and we got none, we lost and they won, we'd still win the title based on having lost less games than them. Bloody hell - impressive stats work there mate.

Play Notts at Trent Bridge next so a little work to do yet. Do we? Oh in that case then most of my previous post is irrelevant. In that case a draw with them scoring no more than 2 more bonus points than us hands us the title with a game to spare as we can't lose more games than them.

Deducted 6 points and captain out of last 2 games! Is the 6 points correct or Gale's previous disciplinary points?

Not seen anything anywhere at all saying we've been deducted any points.

6 points for Gale on his disciplinary meaning he's banned I believe. poor umpiring the bigger issue.
Also worth noting Root and Ballance should be back and Gale's not in any form so not too bad an issue as Root can skipper.

I saw the incident and it was piss all. Ashwell prince deliberately timewasting so Gale gave him a piece of his mind. If the umpires had done their job it would never have happened. Can't believe he's been banned. Disgusting and IMO if he'd have been captain of Hampshire or Glamorgan etc he would not be getting a ban

Bloody hell - impressive stats work there mate. As it stands Notts maximum points total is 245, Warwicks is 238 and Yorks currently has 223 (Maximum is 271). If Notts beat Yorks then they gain 16 points =/- any bonus points difference so the gap would be reduced to 10 points excluding bonus points so it would all hang on the final round. To knock out Warwicks for sure, Yorks needs 15 points from 2 games because we cannot lose as many games as Warwicks. To knock out Notts for sure, Yorks needs to avoid them gaining 25 points on us. It seems to me that the Notts v Yorks game will be very interesting. If Notts win then it will likely go down to the wire. If Yorks does not lose then it is a big ask for Notts to catch up but Warwicks could still be the spanner in the works.

Nice work David. The bottom line is that we need 23 points from our last 2 games to guarentee the Championship. That figure could be considerably less if Notts or Warks fail to achieve maximum points from their games.

I've always thought Rashid's batting should see him into the England squad. He seems to have been better with the ball this year, and the murmur is that he'll go to the West Indies next year (heard Dickie Bird on the radio the other day)

We have a hell of a squad. Everyone has contributed to a very consistent season. Gillespie is a fine coach. Hopefully we can get over the line in the last two matches.

The strength and depth in the batting department in amazing. Bowling's not too far off and we've not had players like Ashraf fit all year and Plunketts been out for ages too.
Half the England side will be Yorkies soon.

Would that I could do that. Will just be refreshing Cricinfo for me like all summer.
Nice ground, though, Trent Bridge. Should be a good do.
