Any criticism of Scannell was because he was playing poorly Any praise is because he is playing well Any " I told you so" posts are nonsense Scannell was unplayable at times today long may it continue

Was legit confused for a second there as to why we would join a fan club for Hitler's personal army.. Maybe you need to think of a different name for Scannell's fan club

The OP has a point about the run of games needed by Scannell, it was bizarre last season that he didn't make back to back starts all season.

The OP has a point about the run of games needed by Scannell, it was bizarre last season that he didn't make back to back starts all season. Lillis has to take a lot of credit for doing whatever it took to get him motivated and playing well. Then CP has to take some for not letting him go to Millwall. At the end of Robins regin he was 4th in line for a sideman berth . Quite right based on his previous performances.

he needs the ball a lot to be 'in' the game.. now we give him the ball 'a lot' he is the player he always appeared he could be for us.
now we ask hogg to get further up and 'rat around' he also seems to be coming good..
just needed a different approach to games, which suits what we have much better, that's all.

'I told you so' posts regarding Scannell are totally wrong. He's been largely garbage for the last two years. This season he's showing so much more potential. Good on him, it's about time.

I thought Danny Ward did an absolutely outstanding job of running down the clock when he came on today ;-)

Scannell was brilliant today and that is what he his capable off. Play to his strengths and he will deliver and that applies to any player, so maybe it's should be Chris Powell who deserves a pat on the back for getting the best out of him.

You have to consider the fact that Scannell hasn't always historically been given the run in the side he needed to show what he could do. Particularly under Robins, it seemed that after one poor game he was out of the side, wheras the likes of Danny Ward and Oliver Norwood seemed to start every week regardless and this is the reason why I have always defended him.

What has always been obvious is his ability, though 90% of the posters on here just wanted rid of him, never given a chance by MR who even dropped him after a mom performance

Which made all them half assed non performances all the more frustrating. Lets hope he can keep up his current levels. If he goes back to half assed and becomes a liability and others are playing better surely you'd drop him ?

Anyone that saw his goal against Hibs (pre season under Grayson) saw his potential. It was similar to the goal v Leicester in the cup but he had to beat 3 defenders to score it.
I put it down to the last 2 managers as to them not getting the best out of him. Espically Robins, Scannell never fitted into his formation or style of play. That's why he never got a look in under Robins. Also one of the many reasons robins failed here.

Daft to start a "I told you so" type thread, even more so after 1 game. If he can start 6-10 games in a row and play that well basically through all those games (not 1 game in every 8 or for 20 minutes here and there) then you might have a point, but after 1 game? Yeah he was very good albeit against a poor team, but he has to keep it up.

The tallent has allways been there, and just needed a top man like Lillis to make Scannell start believing in himself. Powell will take Scannell to the next level, and nice to see 11 individuals playing as a team.
