The first series isn't great, not the same Edmund as appears in the other 3 series but your parameters should be 'series 1 to 2', the second series is excellent, as are the following two. You know I rather liked series 1. Yes, blackadder was sniveling but Percy was brilliantly pathetic and I enjoyed baldrick as the sharp one. Blessed was epic as Richard IV not to mention Peter Cook as Richard III. It's lovely looking too. I love all the silly medieval mysticism.

I didn't mind the first series, by the time series 4 came round you could see the jokes coming for miles before they happened

losing by 6 at Swindon in the pissing rain... losing 7-1 to Barnsley on tv.. losing 5-1 at port vale to go down.. losing 3-0 at old Trafford after falling apart towards the end.. 3-0 up at bury and hanging on for a draw, etc etc etc.. some results live long in the memory and they are not all complete arseholings.. if barnsley had scored the 46th min penalty with town 6-0 down god only knows what the score would have been Remember when we lost 3-1 at Yeovil live on telly one Friday night (in League One) and it could have been any score at half-time. The Sky presenters said at half-time they didn't have time to show all the great chances Yeovil had created in the first half. Although far from being one of Town's worst beatings (in terms of scoreline), that first half has to be (along with the 7-1 at Barnsley - also on TV) one of the most one-sided, embarrassing games I have ever seen from Town. Yeovil could easily have been 8-0 up at half time.
