I wonder whether any English supporters at the match thought about singing the last verse (the 6th verse) of the National Anthem. Lord grant that Marshall Wade May by thy mighty aid Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush Rebellious Scots to crush. God save the Queen!

May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush Rebellious Scots to crush. God save the Queen! Perhaps we ought now to bring this verse forward a bit - make it the second verse. The sweaties get to sing verse 2 of "Shower of Scotland", with their thumbs up to Edward and the English - "sent him homeward to think again". It'd sound good before a Calcutta cup match at Murrayfield!

Rather have Clyne than Chambers. Rather go with Tommy Smith ahead of Chambers mind you

What does Micah Richards have to do to get in the squad? He definitely is the best RB and perhaps one of the best CBs this country has.
Now playing games at Fiorentina too.

I think a lot of questions have to be asked on Richards. He seems to have the ability but constantly seems to be leapfrogged by others.
Seems very strange to me given his potential at such a young age and wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye

man city went tonto with signings of big names etc..odd that they still 'need' milner but didn't need Richards..barry got shoved out as well.. is their a pattern there??

Seems very strange to me given his potential at such a young age and wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye He had one of the best games at right back I've seen from an England player in recent years - against the Dutch a few years back. Robben played down the left side and Richards completely blotted him out - matching him pace for pace. He was genuinely quick for a such a big lad and of course a huge threat at set pieces. His judgement could be a bit off at times - but nothing you don't see from Cahill or Jagielka etc. Honestly thought he would be in the England set up for a long time. I think the last England game I saw him in was against West Germany and he terrorised them down their left flank - went off at half time and it completely changed the game. I guess injury and Zabelleta were his big problems, but I thought he would eventually end up a centre half.

If his last England game was against West Germany he has kept pretty fit in the intervening 25 years to be considered for a call up.
Or are you confusing him with Paul Parker?

He was GB's best player at the Olympics yet overlooked by Hodgson for his favourites time and time again and not aided well by Man City's lust for big name signings. Richards, Rodwell, Adam Johnson and even Milner to an extent have had their careers held back by City's millions. On the flip side clubs like ourselves can utilise this to capture young british talent (Smith, Bunn) and it's a shock when Emyr Huws ends up at a Championship club permanently
