Would appear he's played his best stuff in recent years when he played for us. Surprised he's never really settled anywhere since Leeds as he was class when we had him on loan.

36 year old! Desperation from Bolton if they sign him! Worth having a look I suppose. 2 years older than Hudson (different position, granted). Class player with bags of experience. If they could manage him like Mourinho has with Drogba...? Yeah true you never know, he's certainly got bags of experience!

Just seen that Lewis McGugan has signed for Sheffield Wednesday on loan, Chris Eagles has signed for Blackpool and Guy Moussi has signed for Birmingham. Very good signings for each club. They should definitely strengthen them. Eagles is a good signing for Blackpool. Need another 5 or 6 of those tho!

Talk about dining out on 2 good years at Leeds.... yawn. He's done sod all since and even scored less than Ward in his Messiah role here. He's not netted double figures for years. I said in here that he'd be shite at Bolton and was spot on. From the Beckford is Messiah club.

If Larry can turn Joe Garner into a goal machine at L1 level then Beckford will be unstoppable.

Marcus, we were here every Saturday watching him. You saw one game on Sky. Play the WUM by all means but you're talking bullshit whenever you diss what Beckford did for us

He was never gonna sign permanent for us but always had a thought in back of my mind if he had that he would have done nothing! Just based on a gut feel!! Kept us up that season imo

Kept us up that season imo He would have looked shit in Robins style of play and the fans would have been on his back, under Powell he'd have bagged a hatful.

He has gone to Bolton and been a damp squib.. Injury prone, possibly attitude problems. I was totally fine with not signi g him. But he really came up with the goods at the business end just when we needed him to. Without him in the run in we would be league one by now IMO

Did exactly what we need him to do for us and that was help keep us up. I remember watching him and Vaughan together and thinking they could be one of the finest strike pairings in the league but for both their susceptibility to injury. I'd take Wells over Beckford now though, got more potential, and undoubtedly more desire. You wouldn't have seen Beckford chase 90 minutes of lost causes like Nahki did last season, under the management of Robins

Reading through this thread I thought he had a couple of great games for us, but didn't look interested in a couple and seemed generally pretty shite for Bolton. Can't argue with a goal every other game though, class goalscorer wherever he has played.

You wouldn't have seen Beckford chase 90 minutes of lost causes like Nahki did last season, under the management of Robins At his age, probably not - but one of my memories of Beckford in a Town shirt was the way he chased down Millwall's fatarse Shittu and took the ball off him and beat the keeper with that delicate chip - IMO a goal equally as good as that vs Wolves. The stylish bow said everything. As others have said in this thread, without his goals, IMO we'd have gone down that season.

There were many posts lauding both Grayson and Robins before their respective falls from grace here on DATM, so who knows what the future holds for CP (we can be a fickle lot, us footie fans), but I must agree, I think Beckford could have done a job for us and CP would indeed have got the best out of him. Wonder if we even considered it? Further, I wonder whether, if we did, it was CP's decision not to take it any further? We may never know!

I can't remember the previous two managers taking over what many on here regarded as a total waste of space and making him the player of this season so far (Scannell). I get the feeling that Powell is more of a man-manager than many of his contemporaries. I didn't even know that we were looking to bring Beckford back to the club. Were we? I think that he may be on the move again by the end of the season. If that is the case, and after one or two nondescript seasons, his wages may have come down to a level that we could afford.

In a side that creates chances, he will score goals. He needs to look a bit further then, because he hasn't got into double figures in the League Goals stats since Leeds in 2010, through 4 other clubs.

Well he didn't have that many opportunities at Everton. He did ok at Leicester. Town and Bolton were struggling teams but he still scored a few for us, & when it mattered in the end.
