Badly needs sorting out. I saw the woman that works behind the burger bar getting verbally abused for the second game in a row, although she wasn't helping herself with her smart attitude. I will never buy a burger at half time from that bar again, it's a truly traumatic experience. And the idiotic stewards made it even worse by splitting the queue into two, which made it even harder for the staff to decide who to serve first. Anyone else had problems?

This is spot on. Both of the catering trucks in the FML are a waste of time. The staff don't seem to know whats happening and the time it takes to get served is a joke. Puts me off going in this stand just because of the waiting for a beer or a pie, need to get different catering who can handle a fifteen minute rush at half time, get the impression in there that the staff were surprised at the sudden rush of people at half time.

They change the contracts and still it's no different. One of the best grounds for getting served quickly is Wigan, town and the giants need to take a look at how it's done over there and try implement something similar over here.

And the idiotic stewards made it even worse by splitting the queue into two, which made it even harder for the staff to decide who to serve first. Anyone else had problems? It may have been me that you saw "verbally abusing" her when I wanted a portion of chips for my lad, as you say the queue wasn't moving particularly quickly and there were quite a few people already stood to one side who had ordered chips. Just to be clear the conversation went something like... Caterer "We've got a long wait for chips" Me "Have you never catered at a football match before - there does tend to be a bit of a rush at half time" Caterer " Yes I have but I didn't know one of my friers was going to breakdown this morning did I" Me "You should have a contingency for that" Caterer "Well I wish I was as perfect as you" At that point I walked away. I admit I was probably a bit smart with my comments but it's really not acceptable to speak to the customers like that, and it's not as if this is the first time there have been issues with the half time catering in the FML. To have 2 vans serving hot food, and alcoholic drinks is barmy, if you want a pie and pint you have to queue up twice and there just isn't time to do that in the 15 minutes, infact, you barely have time to queue up once the service is that slow. When I sat in the FM lower a few seasons back I'm sure there was a bigger truck that served everything, even though there was less of a demand. These caterers need to make sure they can fulfil the requirements of the customers they are selling to, Sudhexo need to carefully analyse the speed at which these mobile units can serve food and drink because the ones that are in their at them moment clearly aren't up to the job. I'll be emailing the club about it, and as Ben has said, the club are well aware of the issues, but we need to keep the pressure on them to get it sorted. Another thing, why is their a hot dog stall in front of the DG lower in the corner, I can only guess its a requirement as there is a disabled area down there and it provides the only point of purchasing refreshments to those confined to a wheelchair, but why not have one in front of the FM lower as well. I only ever buy food for my lad as a rule and he'd be more than happy with a hot dog, especially if I didn't have to queue for quarter of an hour to get it. By the way the catering in the Kilner is getting similar stick.

I just get the opinion that as the catering is all part of the anonimous KSDL (whoever these people are) that no one gives a chuff. We've been talking about poor catering for years and years and it's still crap...unless you're in the corporate boxes, executives areas or the Riverside stand..
Sadly this 'message' is one of many that emanate out from the Stadium that tells me that fans are classed into priority categories, depending how much you pay and the 'regular' fan is bottom of that priority list.

Aren't the contracts up for renewal soon?
I thought the catering situation was still a legacy from Mr Burns and was up for renewal 2 years after the shares reverted back to Town.

I'm not sure how stadium ownership affects how catering contracts are given out, but the club are tackling the issue. It's not been brushed under the carpet. Videos have been sent to the club showing half time queues, I'd suggest those that have had catering problems to do document such incidents and send them to the club to keep the pressure on sorting the catering out.

To be fair your response was pretty justified and her attitude was absolutely terrible, if I spoke to someone like that in my job I'd probably get sacked. At the last home game somebody was kicking off big time and it got a bit nasty. It's incredibly frustrating and it puts a bit of a downer on the general buzz. Hopefully it will be sorted out sooner rather than later!

They've done things in the past to try and improve the service and still got no where. Even before the stadium shares issue the time it took to get served was appealing and hasn't improved at all. The kiosks are too small, there's not enough staff, you que out into a walkway, there's no use of multi filling pint machines, there's no pints already pulled ready for half time etc etc. To sum it all up the foods crap and the service is even worse and town will tell you they're going to improve the "experience" but won't. All they're bothered about along with the catering company is making as much money as possible for the least out lay of cash and that means poor quality food to go with low levels of staff working on a match day.

Tbh mate your telling me something I already know. I know it's terrible, I only get a pint and that's usually before the match. All I can say is that the club and the catering company are not happy with it and are dealing with it.

Would be so easy to put some small potable hot food stands in front. Of the stands at half time the situation as it is now is a joke I have complained to the club but all you get is there looking in to it well it's taking some sorting as I complained after the first home game this season and it just got worse every game since G

Never understood the fascination with stuffing your gob at a match anyway.
Comes to summat if you can't go an hour and a half without junk food.

The simple loss of high margin revenue offends me as a capitalist. It's a monopolised market that is happy to pay £3.70 for a pint. It shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to take money off folks desperate to give it to you.

The Kilner was just as bad yesterday, couldn't even get a cup of coffee as there was no hot water apparently. Driving 90 miles a beer is out as far as I'm concerned, and surely it's not too bloody much to expect hot drinks to be available? Of course allowing anyone serving or expecting them to be able to do the basics like boil a kettle wouldn't pass elf n safety I guess.

I'm amazed at how many people are queuing up for food at the match, the quality is awful. I hadn't eaten anything from the stadium in years until the Brighton match when I didn't have time to get any food beforehand. Bought a burger and some chips, cost about £7 overall and it was terrible.

I`ve known them run out of coffee at half time. it is shocking so I`ve learnt to give it a miss. if you`re that bothered for a crap pint of lager before the game you`re better off taking a can in with you under your coat rather than pay £3.50 for it. The concourse area under the kilner bank has all the ambiance of a multi-story car park - not somewhere I choose to spend time drinking for long.

I never buy anything, I'm always shocked that people do in all honesty. If you're at Canalside or up town before the game why not have something to eat there?

The only way I can guarantee refreshments is to leave me seat 10-5 mins before half time! The service is nowhere good enough. surely having as many drinks and food pre made would make some difference. most of the staff look too young and inexperienced to cope with the rush. sort it out town, surely revenue is been lost.

Imagine if the club rented the booths to local restaurants and butchers, breweries
Like the food festival in St George's square.imagine the que for some nice curry and rice.or proper pie and peas.
We have some of the best beer in the world in our area but get served utter shite
Unfortunately money talks !!!
If we really wanted to stand out as a forward thinking club this is the road we should go down.

Catering at most football ground's is absolutely lousy big time. I have fed my dog better food and the beer is nothing short of dish water and it doesn't come cheap, far from it. Football fan's are just there to be ripped off, from ground price's to food and parking and it's mainly the same at all sporting venues. Some one!! is making a lot of money out of catering.
