That's not really that important. You don't NEED the away fans to generate atmosphere- it's actually disappointing that people think it is, and one of the main reasons the NSL is struggling for numbers. We need to get away from this 'away fan banter' idea and start generating atmosphere on our own. That's all well and good but a lot of people like the banter with the away fans. Which is the reason our atmosphere has been notoriously poor for 20 years

How can you have banter with 200 Brighton fans on a Tuesday night? I was in the singing section for years and I never once bantered with away fans. I went in there to sing town songs. Not 'who's the fatty in the pink'.

On the way out I clocked the posters on Saturday advertising "Festive Football" tickets FROM £24 and literally winced. The thought of handing over £24 in cash (and far more if the family came)to watch that sh&t made me realise that compared to other forms of entertainment what a rough ride fans get for their money. You can pick up a ticket to see a decent band or a show knowing that if it is to your taste your a highly likely to get some feelgood factor from the experience, rather than walk out with it likely to put a dampner on your weekend !!

I would rather be behind the goal with town fans singing cowshed songs instead of chanting 'does she take it up the arse' and sticking my fingers up at away fans.

Marvellous isn't it, we take 30 thousand plus to old Trafford and wembley, where even for a single man you are looking at a 100 quid day out with tickets and transport, daft , few drinks, food etc for a family man it's gonna cost hundreds, yet when it's a tenner In no fooker can be arsed turning up. And we mock Leeds cos they turn up in numbers when we play them at their spot.

I think in general , Football attendances are on the wane. Sit in a cold ground paying £20 odd quid a game or stay in the warmth of your own house having a couple of beers and a takeaway and watching sky sports. The culture of football is changing, until the bubble bursts and the cost of football goes down significantly then people will vote with their feet. You make a great point, Birmingham for example seem to have suffered from poor home gates and the travelling support was small in numbers and more or less muted, which was quite telling having seen them travel big here in the past. I honestly don't think there is going to be a match this season which I'm going to be excited for home or away. Fulham was the exception. I just go out of habit and because I literally have nothing else today, I'm not actually sure I like football anymore. Going back to the two blokes I was sat in front of, about 30 minutes in, he said... 'Why am I sat here and not sat in my warm flat watching soccer Saturday'. Even at free admission people would prefer to stay at home. Maybe wiziwig on the laptop, soccer Saturday on the TV, a few beers and a takeaway is the way to go. Saturday was a poor attendance, no atmosphere from either set of supporters and a nondescript game, might as well have been watching a district match. Thing is I could in theory watch a local game for sod all down on the Leeds road playing fields watching lads put in 100% for nothing more than the love of the game. What is starting to worry me is I'm not too bothered if we win or lose much anymore. I'm starting to become apathetic towards my team . Even the half time "entertainment" is non existent.

That was not a dig at Tog , I personally like the guy. I don't like watching kids trying to chip the ball into an inflatable round tube . I know there's cutbacks everywhere but seriously ? Bring back the dizzy penalties at least.

A valid point but I'm talking about our atmosphere. How many other grounds give their best end to the away fans? That's not really that important. You don't NEED the away fans to generate atmosphere- it's actually disappointing that people think it is, and one of the main reasons the NSL is struggling for numbers. We need to get away from this 'away fan banter' idea and start generating atmosphere on our own. You also don't need a home end, you just need people wanting to create an atmosphere. The best by far at the new stadium was the Bournemouth play-off match. No home end, no south stand, no filled in corners, just people wanting to sing.

Sorry I'm late to this argument but here's my say. People complaining about how the NSL aren't generating enough atmosphere shouldn't be sitting behind a keyboard having ago at those who are trying to. If the atmosphere is shit stand up and sing! That's whats going wrong with football in this country in my opinion, money and stupid rules have killed the passion. If you put on BT sport and watch some German, Italian, Swedish, Swiss, Norwegian, even Australian or American football you'll see thousands of fans drinking in the stands, singing, bouncing, having a great time supporting their team. German football is a great example, clubs put their fans first; they charge less than £150 for a season ticket so teenagers can afford to go, let fans flags, have a say on how the club is run, make them feel like part of the club. If we want that kind of atmosphere here then people need to change their mentality. It will take years, take Crystal Palace, Celtic, Rangers for example, but it's not just gonna happen with people being negative about it. If you want an atmosphere either go in the KB or NSL and sing. I think the boys in the Kilner should take note of what we're trying to achieve too by upping their game, rodding off the away fans from 50 yards away with 50 police officers in between you doesn't create an atmosphere. Giving your all to supporting the team does. One thing is for sure though, the atmosphere isn't gonna change if we're all arguing. Sit where you like, but don't have a go at us for trying to create an atmosphere when you're not doing anything yourself to. If the kilner start making some noise then you may have a point, but as it stands I don't really see your argument.

Bring back the dizzy penalties at least. To be fair I don't think it gets much better than a Reinwood v Lindley derby at half time. My daughter was interested in the outcome when I told her and wasn't there and doesn't go to either school (although has been a pupil at both)!

I feel the NSL might have been a success if the team were having a good season , however it just seems to be a bunch of mates at the back of the goal having a laugh , And the problem with that is?

We beat Reinwood 5 or 6, our biggest game was St Pats which we drew 2 2 away, up the slope. The pinnacle of my footballing career.

And the problem with that is? I thought it was supposed to be all inclusive that's all ! It is all inclusive. It's 100% inclusive. Free season card transfers from any stand to the NSL. Pay cash on the turnstile and tickets from ticket office. How much more inclusive could it be? I've read a number of posts from you and know you don't totally believe in the NSL which is fine, that's your opinion. The point above about having a good time with mates is right, I've met new friends in the NSL because of it's inclusive nature. Without it, I would know only the few I was stood with in the singing section. Despite the myth about it being a closed shop, exclusive and cliquey, the NSL group have provided open fans meetings to all using live web cams and gatherings at canalside. Brought Q+A at the Millbridge club with clibbens and Lillis. Completely open invites, no secrets, no hidden agendas. Fans who choose not to use the NSL aren't looked upon as the anti Christ. They are looked upon as town fans who have made a choice to support town from a differant stand in a differant environment. I wish some would look upon the people who go in the NSL in the same way.

Also let youngsters sit at the front by the back of the goals by moving the flags Not good really if the NSL is supposed to be inclusive

You raise a fair point regarding the banner at the front. We do leave a row spare right on the front row but all the same, it warrants a discussion and maybe a rethink.

Its simple, if you dont like the nsl dont go in,stay where you are,if you think they dont make an atmosphere make your own instead of having digs about a group of lads enjoying themselves, stop fucking bleating and do something about it.
