I find this alarming, at the moment.... It's like Marcus Stewart all over again. We all know that they both have bags of ability if not the consistency. Our own players could send us down.... A bit like Marcus Stewart took Ipswich up.. Hopefully we have somebody coming in . Ben Pringle ? It's like Marcus Stewart all over again........ I've got my head in my hands right now. I can't believe Nick hasn't brought out his face-palming polar bear yet......

Will we not have a recall clause? So if we need em back to cover injury or to stop them from scoring for Rotherham then we can do so?

If we do get Ben, we'll have Pringle, Lolley and Bunn...our wingers will sound like the inside of a tuck shop! That joke seems familiar.. Did you comment that earlier or on another post? Sorry, pal, creds to you

If Rotherham end the season above us because of these 2 then there is something very wrong with the way our club is being run. Somehow I suspect they won't.

We need to move a few out before we can get some in
Neither Ward or Hammill have contributed much to our season so no real loss. Bunn and Scannell are our first choice wingers and rightly so IMO
Could be an inspired bit of business for Rotherham though, both Ward and Hammill have talent so if they go there with a point to prove they could be real assets
Hope to see a few more off; Gobern, Patterson are the obvious two who will be on good money and who wouldn't be missed in the slightest if they left

Time will tell, but giving a relegation rival a leg up by improving their squad is a bad idea imo.. Don't get me wrong i think it's the correct decision to move both players on & free up their wages, but loaning them to Rotherham, a team struggling at the wrong end like us, could come back & bite us in the arse.. Ward got 10 goals in this division last season & Hammill got the most assists for us. Town don't necessarily get to choose who it is they join. If it's just Rotherham who want them, then it's a straight yes or no. Maybe Town want to keep Rotherham onside in order to do other business with them. I understand that, but it's early on in the transfer window, so to say only Rotherham are interested seems fairly premature on towns behalf.. I would much rather see them go to the SPL or somewhere like Preston than to a direct rival.. Let's see what Powell has up his sleeve 1st though.

They've more assists in the last 2 seasons than Scannells had in his career and if Bunn plays like he has since just before his injury he's not worth a place in the team. Can Lolley play on the left ? I know he's all left foot but I've only ever seen him play on the right and come inside

In no way shape or form is letting Hamill and Ward go comparable to letting Marcus Stewart go !! Two lads who are very inconsistent and can't get a game vs one of our best and most consistent players of recent times.

How fickle the Town faithful are. I am sad to see both those players leave but I understand that this is a business and we need a new striker who will cost money. Someone has therefore got to go. These two have hardly threatened the bench let alone the starting 11. I have no doubt they will relish a new start at Rotherham – it’s not far away either so need to sell the gaff. When will people grasp that player performance is affected by multiple issues. If the new manager doesn’t see how you can fit into his plans – then what is there to motivate you. You can see that with Scannell under previous managers, Holt at Wigan, Arfield here, Gerrard here. Players do not swing from being super to shite. They are just managed poorly.

the lack of opportunities for some cannot be put down to us having a settled side, performing consistently well and using a tried and trusted system to accrue points..
sometimes you can be super in training and a smashing human being and the manager is going to plod on with his ideas, wether the results or performances or both in no way back up his selections or tactics.. If you don't pick players that are a bit of an arse, it might very well cut your selectable squad down to 18 and you still have one or two on the bench, hence whats happened at Town. The manager then has to try and avoid bringing those 'arses' off the bench..

Just part of Powell putting his own stamp on his squad. Unfair to judge him too much until hes had that chance. Players who don't feature or he doesn't rate for whatever reason, leave. players who will feature who he does rate come in.
Both might do great at Rovrum. Or they might do nothing. Who knows. What a lot more certain is neither were going to do much here.

I think a lot of people are about to get one hell of a surprise especially as both these experienced of favour players will definitely be out to prove themselves. . Both Ward and Hammill have massive championship potential , and amazing what the right managerial "motivation " can do. It would not surprise me if we end up with another similar Arfield situation , and Powells first big test to prove that he has the knowledge to know the required players that would allow this club to progress.

If they continue to play for Rotherham as well as they played for us then you could say it's a genius move We will have to wait and see! I think the point is that Rotherham must believe that these two will improve their squad, and we shouldn't be in the business of helping our rivals improve their squad! we can barely afford to keep our own squad - why would we waste time and money worrying about someone else's? We have played them away - we can beat them at home with or without Ward/Hamill.

with or without Ward/Hamill. Being as they are loan deals, I'd think they would be ineligible to play against us.

Just read an interview with the Rotherham no2 who seems to think they're looking to sign atleased one if not both on permanent deals next week but due to time constraints for tomorrow's game they'll be loan signings initially.. He thinks they will be signing championship quality & they'll create openings in the final 3rd, which is where he says they've been lacking so far.
Sorry can't post link because I'm using my fone.. It's on our newsnow feed though.

Hammill left our team before during a season when we were in a relegation battle. Look how that worked out for him. Neither were going to save our season, Town fans have lambasted them now they're lambasting the Club for letting them go....Typical.

They'll be playing under a good manager. Evans will get the best out of them but I'd pick Scannell and Bunn over them any day. Good move all round. Like mentioned, I hope it doesn't come back and bite us on the arse though.

Reading all these posts is quite educational and says a lot about the personality of the posters. So many of you farting and moaning about two players going to Rotherham, only a few exploiting the brighter side. Yes – that’s wages freed up- we can get someone in to replace Holt. Let’s face it a higher caliber person is going to need a high wage if he is to come here and not one of our rivals further up the league. This is great news and shows that the club management know what they are doing. Unlike a lot of folk on here. Consider this news along with your posts about no ambition – well keeping those players just so we can finish above Rotherham – is that the ambition you were talking about that you feel is lacking.

Might work out for them, who knows ? Hammil looked poor in the cup game, they obviously don't fit with what CP wants.

So from the outrage about these two leaving from some should we hang on to Gobern because if he leaves he will become the next Yaya Toure ?

On the positive side I'm expecting some impressive incomings based on the fact we've let 2 of our better squad players go to a rival. Its a big call and one that's obviously been made with a view to supporting the manager with who he wants to bring in. Lets hope he doesn't fcuk it up. People on here can slag Ward and Hammill off as much as they want but the fact is they are both quality, creative players. Hammill was our most creative by a mile until Stephens did him. If I were a Rotherham fan I'd be over the moon with these 2, a fresh start may be just what they need. Looking forward to our own incomings now, hope we can do better than Poyet and James Hanson

Makes Powell's starting XI vs Reading look even shitter (somehow). Start a guy you're gonna get rid off and give Lolley 4 mins Does it though? You could argue he was putting them in the shop window for a club to take them off our hands? Just a suggestion.. As long as we have people coming that are going to better the first team. Not overly fussed with Ward, but I think footballing ability wise Hammill is a quality player.
