gary Neville in his book when asked about his modesty when he was playing said;;
'I knew who I was and what I was. nobody got up in Manchester on a Saturday morning and said great, lets go and watch Gary Neville play'...
Yes he earned big money, but he didn't lose sight of himself.. he was a very important part of a great team but never over estimated himself.. he was mates with the big earners/big celebrity players and was mates with the rest, this has left him as the perfect staff member for England to be able to talk to both the big names and the kids..
Neville would have been great for notts county, sol clearly was never going to be. colour isn't the issue...Shearer found it too hard to be on the other side, Ince cant make it work etc.. Its who you are, not what you are..

In my opinion his personal agenda as well as some others is actually detrimental to the fight against racism in football. It angers and fustrates fans of all ethnicitys and devalues the efforts made by organisations like the kick it out campaign.
Chris Powell should be congratulated for the way he acted during the interview with Campbell and also how he's stayed clear of any involvement or association with Sol Campbell's or Les Ferdinand's narrow minded comments.

I used to play football, I therefore can be a spokesman for whats wrong with the game???
there is lots wrong with the game and the players are no small part of the problem..
ex players are also seemingly part of the problem..
oddly enough those who don't want to be managers/coaches and those that fail at both seem to be the nosiest...
