Cherry was outstanding for us and just as important to the team as frank and Jimmy - bit of a shock when he went down the road though. I'll say! As a young lad of 13, Cherry's married sister and her hubby used to take me in their car to matches. She swore blind that if he ever joined Leeds she'd never go and watch. The season he moved I ended up walking to matches from Brighouse. Nice walk at the start and end of a season. Not the niciest in the depth of winter.

Its not over yet...Cellino had a court hearing yesterday on charges of fraud, embezzlement, flouting planning orders, and ignoring environmental orders.

The FL originally deemed him not to be fit and proper, but that decision was overturned by an independent QC on the basis that a previous conviction was not evidence of dishonesty (go figure!) Then he was convicted of tax evasion in an Italian court and got off pretty lightly for some reason (which I think may have been based on the conviction being nearly "spent". He now faces further charges, and you can't help but think that the FL will be rubbing its hands at the prospect of kicking his arse out of football.

Some of the latest charges are an alledgedly corrupt local government administration trying to pull back as much if £2m they can that they'd collected from Cagliari and have recently been made to pay back.

I don't take that much notice by & large of the numpties up the road but from memory I think his (extremely expensive) barrister was a bit slicker than that. I think he argued that because he had not actually been convicted at that point (due to the convoluted appeal system in Italy) & using the definition of 'guilty' under Italian law he was therefore innocent & hence could not be presumed to be unfit & improper. I think all in all the minimal time he spent 'suspended' from owning Leeds was primarily down to very nifty legal work. I might not be 100% on that but I think it was along those lines. "The law in its majestic wisdom prevents both rich and poor alike from stealing bread, begging in the streets and sleeping under bridges" - Anatole France (probably slightly misquoted!).

I'm currently holidaying in Italy. Sorrento. Been here since Sunday but fly back Friday night ready for Bolton. The country is unbelievable in every aspect. I just hope that Cellini continues in his true-to-type Italian attitude of 'don't give a toss' because that's what they're all like here. You should see their cars! Bloody brilliant!

We've been everywhere here, Tez. Bloody marvellous. Venice, Garda, Verona, Naples, Florence, Pisa, Sorrento and I've been to Rome more times than I've been to that there London! Can be expensive, but possibly no more than we paid for the likes of Vienna or Barcelona. Visits can be costly; 70 euros for hydrofoil to Capri and back this week!! Food is brill and I wouldn't class it as expensive. Some might. Italian beer I love - Peroni and Moretti - which is surprisingly expensive in bars and restaurants but ridiculously cheap in supermarkets. The missus always organises trip flights and hotels on-line; she's a whizz at 4-star hotels for cheap prices coupled with bargain flights. Can't recommend the place highly enough. Beats the shit out of Spain and Greece every time!

Tez, you'll love it mate. But to be honest, now that we're both retired it's great for us to go when we want. I know it's tougher for families who might take kids out of school, because I know it's expensive in school hols time. Believe me, we were both teachers, so now it's great to go in term-time and right royally piss off ex-colleagues who are still hard at it, with photos of me with beer and pizza in 34 degrees at Herculaneum (today's little train ride)!!

Oh, yes! The girls are stunning. But to be honest, the blokes are manicured and coiffured down to the nth degree. Adonis doesn't do them justice. Style is everything here. Mind you, once the girls hit granny age they become short, fat, tanned like old leather and have thicker moustaches than the chaps!
And as for the style, every time we come here I say I'll have some Italian shoes, but always go home empty handed. Quality Italian Clothing really IS expensive!
