I've just googled the capacity of Valley Parade - 25,136. Therefore I can confidently predict an average attendance of around 80,000.

I like the comment that declares it a "Premier League stadium". Certainly the only one with a garage and some traffic lights in 1 corner.

On the one hand this board squeals about the cost of watching football, then on the other takes the piss about a club which offers its fans consistently fantastic deals.

What is the point of Bradford City, if not to have the piss taken out of them?
(I do take your point though - credit where it's due)

Fair play to them. Its a shame every club doesn't do the same. Their business model must be pretty reliant on good cup runs, which so far theyve certainly managed, but makes you wonder what happens if they don't.
If they ever have to charge 'normal' prices it would be interesting what sort of crowds they'd get. Average of about 7500 would be my guess.

I mainly posted it cos at some point next season they'll no doubt have an attendance that's larger than ours and there will be Bilo or some other clown on here crowing about it. At £149, plus £50 flexicard holders and free U11s all included in the attendance, the pretendances could hit new heights.

I'll try I hope they do get bigger attendances (wether physically present or not) - it's not as if they have just created a one season loss leader deal; they have a model which works for them and gets more bums on seats now and for the future. Take away the cock waving stuff, isn't it pretty admirable?

Not even 2 amazing cup runs recently has given them enough extra funds to get out of that God awful division.

They spent eons on L2 and eventually scratted out after a 7th place finish, even flirting with relegation a couple of times. Parkinson has done a great job but do these deals provide them with enough budget to progress? The cup runs will surely dry up and then what? But like I said, mainly posted it for the cock waving that will ensue from them at a later date. It pays to be armed with the facts And I like taking the piss out of the traffic lights. Never had a satisfactory answer as to what purpose they serve

Agree good point....but purely on a fan basis fantastic deal, in an ideal world the norm at all clubs......good on Bradford for trying something to get bums on seats but great support(relative to the division u are in) doesnt guarantee success, Newcastle the most obvious proof of this

Fans are being ripped off the length and breadth of the country with extortionate ticket prices that exclude so many - we're not. We're lucky.
Whether this will continue when the dodgy Italian takes over remains to be seen, however. In the meantime, I've really enjoyed the era of cheap tickets and bigger, more boisterous crowds.

Who are we to poke the piss, they get good crowds for a mediocre 3rd tier club who dont charge the earth for season tickets,as well supported as us,if not better.

Think their average is 13 more than ours this season. 13,353 to our 13,340. Think thats the first time in donkeys years theyve had the most- its maybe happened once or twice in the past dozen years. In some ways it good by them- a divsiion below and less visiting fans. But you have to factor in cost. Their STs are almost HALF the price of ours. Who the better supported club? Well if they charged what we charge, then IMO theyd struggle to get 8000, and historically we have had bigger support about 85% of the time, including the last 2 decades to id say we are.

I think football struggles to compete and break even due to one or two key influences. The money paid to agents and players and revenue received through TV rights.
The last one is sort of ironic as you'd have thought prices would be higher because of less TV money for Bradford (ignore cup runs in your thinking for a second...). So the majority of ST prices and club revenue the further you go seems to be influenced by the higher outgoings to players & agents.
Long been my opinion that football runs itself in a completely barmy way to most normal businesses but it constantly seems to dodge the bullets of any economic downturn...

I admire them for thinking of their fans, but I do think they fail to balance this against the realities of modern day football. Say they had snuck into the Play Off's last season and got promoted, how on earth would they have expected to compete at this level? We're having to be very considered in our approach as we simply can't afford to match the big spenders in this division, what on earth would Bradford do having depleted such a significant revenue stream?
Whilst we'd all like to pay as little as possible to watch our team, £150 works out at about £6.50 a game which is very cheap. I'm pretty sure even the stingiest of fans would agree that double that is a fairly reasonable amount for a football match? Would be interesting to hear how many Bradford fans would be willing to pay a little more for their season tickets to give a bit more of a budget to the club.
I would hasten to add, for all Town got some grief about season tickets. I actually think (in terms of season tickets at least) we balance the cost to fans with the extortionate funds required to operate a competitive football club. Hopefully something will happen higher up in football which will enable all clubs to reduce prices without jeopardising their on-field performance.

Fair play to them, it's great to see them giving even more affordable prices to supporters.
However, seeing as Lawn could not finance a promotion team with £200 tickets, the only thing a reduction of £50 can mean is the takeover is happening,IMO.
Get the fans onside first, then hammer them next year, cos I really can't see the Italian allowing such cheap tickets again...I reckon he's relying totally on promotion next season, in order to hammer the prices after that. All well & good...providing they get promoted.
The only other thing to add is how many extra supporters will the £50 drop bring in? Surely they were cheap enough last season & there's not even the benefit of extra match day revenue, as I believe that's all in the pockets of someone else?

It is an interesting thought to think what would have happened had they gone up. Would they try and keep prices so low, thinking theyd get a few thousand more fans. Even if they averaged 20,000 which seems highly unlikely, they still have pretty much the lowest matchday income in the division! How would they compete with that? You can do 'ok' in the bottom 2 divisions with a squad bought for £7,500 as theyve proved, but competing in the championship with that is a different kettle of haddock. So if they put their prices up to a more normal level, how would fans take to that. people who've grown used to paying £150-190 a season, suddenly being asked for double that? They must be skating on very thin ice, reliant on cup money. Its a good job for them they don't have our cup record!! What they do is admirable but it will take the governing body to get the clubs together and get them all to agree to do likewise for it to happen. It could happen. Nothing would change. Same players for the same clubs- just earning a lot less money and far more fans able to afford to go to games. Could happen but doubt it will.

So that would be an under 11 is entitled to £5 admission then.

Yes its all good that they are looking after their fans an all that ...
BUT
It is a business after all and how do they hope to improve year on year like this,as many have said these cup runs will not last forever. When they do dry up and no money comes in from the cups then the support will waver ,to me its a timebomb ready to go off any point there as no money there and heavily reliant on the cups when they dry up and players go then see it go down like a pack of cards

No wonder they are skint! I'm gonna bite. We've been in the black since 2007 - and announce profits every season, whilst your chairman pummels millions in every year just to keep you afloat. It's a fantastic incentive that should be applauded, not scoffed at, irrespective of what income we receive from It. Oh, and spare me the numerous media artcles stating that we're x amount over budget every season, it's a bloody smokescreen, of which Lawn has repeated since his arrival in 2007.
