Won't be long until the FBI pin something on blatter! It infuriates me when he uses something as serious as the corruption claims as sour grapes for England and USA not getting the world cups! I don't really give a shit that we didn't get the World Cup but what is the point in bidding in the first place if Russia and Qatar effectively bought the World Cup? England's World Cup bid was poor in my opinion, a World Cup in Portugal and Spain got more votes than us!

I suspect our bid was rejected more for the fact that it didn't have enough brown envelopes stuffed full of cash, we wern't prepared to tow the FIFA line and our LAWS so they could piss all over em, and we wanted our game to benefit from the tourney, and not just some elite bunch of overpayed fat sausage munching pen pushers that live untouchable (or not so now... thanks to the USA) lifestyles.

im not sure how long anyone, even with a hide as tough as Blatters can continue on in an untenable position??
you walk into a room and 3/4 of the occupants think you are a total c-nt???
does the job and the benefits really make up for that??
clearly you are weakened to the point where those around and below you will just take the piss?

personally, I would have sold my business if it ever came to that. Like Blatter I don't need the money anymore, unlike Blatter I have other things to do with my time and life..
seems he can live with the shame and outright hostility and abuse because he truly has nothing else.. its bordering on sad..

All governments tend towards corruption. Bureaucrats love power. Leftist ideologies always grant more power to government. What is the EU other than an unelected, unaccountable, centralised, old Soviet style bureaucracy? Simples. Ah ok... So left wing = corrupt. Right wing = uncorrupt.. Thanks for clearing that up so spectacularly Well, I didn't go that far, but perhaps you have made a fair summation. My criticism of the EU was that it increasingly resembles a totalitarian regime; and one essentially Marxist in complexion. Tony Benn, a thoroughly decent lefty, was on record as saying that it was anti-democratic. As a general rule I don't buy into the left-right paradigm. One problem here being that the left have become very skilled at blaming the right for problems they create. Adolf Hitler is generally described as far right, for example, despite being a committed socialist, albeit a nationalistic one. I had to laugh when Russell Brand described Nigel Farage as a Tinpot Enoch Powell. Brand failed to mention that, much like him, Enoch Powell had urged people to vote labour. The point is that giving more power to any form of government rarely helps, however you dress-up it up. In general, the right of centre prefer to limit centralised power. “In Germany the socialists in the Reichstag voted in favor of the war. In Britain the socialists voted in favor of the war. In America the socialists and progressives voted in favor of the war. This didn’t make them right-wingers; it made them shockingly bloodthirsty and jingoistic left-wingers. This is just one attribute of the progressives that has been airbrushed from popular history.” Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

Well, well well! Nobody saw that one coming. Sneaky bastard! I won't be happy until he is subject to a rigourous, far ranging, comprehensive review of all activities connected with Blatter, then taken to court, given a fair impartial trial ...................and banged up for the rest of his natural!!!

That's why he disbanded unions, murdered their leaders, lead Germany in to a brutal war with communist Russia etc Let us know which other "socialist" believed or believes in the purity of a single race? Still, he quite liked the idea of "equality" for the racially pure (so long as, you know, they agreed with him). "Albeit a nationalistic one" indeed! For what it's worth, the label "right wing" is just as hopeless. Oh, and quoting a right wing nut job hack doesn't give your view credibility.

Two more apt quotes from Jonah Goldberg (yes, he's Jewish), whom you laughably dismiss as a right wing nut job. The Nazis played the same games against Jews that today’s left plays against “Eurocentrism,” “whiteness,” and “logocentrism.” When you hear a campus radical denounce “white logic” or “male logic,” she is standing on the shoulders of a Nazi who denounced “Jewish logic” and the “Hebrew disease.” — P.368
Upon seizing power, the radicals in the Nazi Party Labor Union threatened to put business leaders in concentration camps if they didn’t increase workers’ wages. — P.288
As regards Hitler disliking communism, well, fair play to him in that respect. The commies certainly managed to kill far more than he ever did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Book_of_Communism

But you carry on believing in the intellectual rigour which sees the word "socialist" in the Nazi party name and claiming they were socialists. His other plank was that Hitler was a vegetarian, ergo, he must have been a left wing bleeding heart. Oh, and love the bit about Hitler getting something right - carrying out a murderous assault on Russia was perfectly acceptable because, well, they are Commies aren't they?. Jesus.

Great day for football that this fooker has gone but he should ave been escorted by security off site ! If you resign when a cloud looms, how can you put timescales on it! I think it's a managed exit, to protect other Big names........time now in next 6 months to hide the skeletons and lose the computers lol.....also will try and oversee the transition of power to another suitable cronie.....theres no way Qatar will take place and if the USA have their way then Russia(struggling Economically to be ready etc and we will hold it like we should have done in the first place) wont be holding the next WC either......CBS just announced they are investigating Blatter get into those FIFA headquarters ffs

I'm guessing he'll argue that his challenge was to the sponsors (no self respecting Englishman would drink Budweiser), but I think he should do it anyway. Oliver was excellent as Jon Stewart's replacement on the Daily Show last year (he more than makes up for Piers Morgan).

This is what you get on Datm; Good Genocide & Bad Genocide. Stalin had already committed mass genocide in Ukraine before the Nazis had even got around to to experimenting on and murdering their own disabled citizens and during the Ribbentrop Molotov pact he murdered most of the officer/intellectual class in Poland, but yeah that was ok x0====

londontown you really are beyond contempt. Read Timothy Snyder's Bloodlands instead of wasting your fucking time with that landfill crap that you constantly pollute this football website with.

I hold no political ideology whatsoever, and I don't look to Jesus or anyone else to save me. Neither do I subscribe to the idea that Hitler got some things right (trains on time, autobahns, 20M+ Russian deaths) or believe that Stalin and Stalinism was anything other than just as evil as Nazism (I didn't realise it was a competition) Just to be clear.

So the FBI are investigating Blatter - no surprise there then! But is Blatter the real target here? The thing that just doesn't seem to fit is why the US are getting involved despite the platitudes from Loretta Lynch of the US Justice Department and James Comey from the FBI.
I think that chasing the corrupt people at FIFA is a means to an end and the real reason for the US interest may be for a couple of reasons.
1. Although Qatar cooperated with Garcia in the corruption inquiry, Russia didn't. If evidence can be found that the bidding for 2018 was totally rigged, it will look pretty bad for Putin, just when Russia is beginning to flex its muscles again.
2. Perhaps investigating this kind of case is a push by the US Justice Department for operating on a more global scale - save the World from FIFA corruption and be asked to intervene in other cases (extending US influence).
On another point, just getting rid of Blatter won't solve corruption. How many votes did England get for their 2018 bid? Wasn't it said to be the best technical bid? Was it 2 or something ridiculous? Corruption is endemic and it needs someone totally unconnected with the organisation to take over the presidency. I know it's not gonna happen, but Seb Coe anyone?
