Great finish for the winner, tough next round as it will be a big partisan crowd. Hopefully I'll get home early enough on Sun morning to see some of it.

Enjoyed watching that. Not high quality, but does it really matter, it's the winning that counts !! My young un plays at junior level and I've been gobsmacked at how good some young girls are. At under 10 level, I can honestly say that when I was playing at that age, hardly any of the lads back then would hold a candle to some of these girls.

The French team were superb the other night.
The best 2 teams I've seen in the competition are France and Germany and they meet in the quarters.

Germany look a class apart whereas France have had their issues (that game - was it Colombia? - they looked plenty out of sorts) and England weren't a million miles off when the two met, so if it came to England v. France, I'd be far far more optimistic than England v. Germany.

If they stay on form I still can't see beyond Germany as champions but you never know...

Have resisted so far but no matter how much you lot try and dress it up (no pun intended) it is a pretty poor imitation of the mans game as far as I'm concerned. If DATM put a side together I would expect they'd beat the womens England side quite comfortably.

It's the same with all sports whether it be football, cricket, boxing, golf, tennis, or athletics, the women's variation is nothing but a very poor imitation of the ones played by men and personally, I wouldn't cross the road to watch any of the sports played by women except maybe athletics or tennis, providing someone gave me a free lift to the venue and paid my entrance fee.

But even tennis is all wrong. How they can claim equal prize money is laughable. Make 'em play 5 sets if they think they deserve the same.

we dont have to watch it...if they can sell it to enough ladies/girls and a percentage of men they will suceeed.. same as mens football..
it is not an imitation its a game played by ladies.. womens boxing/rugby etc is the same, its a game associated almost exclusiveley with men that ladies are playing their version of..the physical differences between men and women will show out in whatever physically demanding sport you choose to name..skill wise there is no reason why they wont improve vastly as they go on along with any other attributes required.
should they wish to roll around, over act, argue with the ref and generally be complete arseholes, they them may be beginning to imitate the mens game..
I dont watch mens rugby league, it does nothing for me but i dont feel the need to have a go at those who play it and watch it and enjoy it..
watch the games for what they are, the best women footballers in the world and support England, forget about what you watch in the premier league etc, same as you do when watching your kids play on a sunday morning or when you play yourself on a sunday...

the imitation you speak of is unfortunately from the mens professional game into the non league, sunday morning and kids leagues..
imitators who see it as being ok to cheat, argue with officials and parents and supporters who think its ok to intimidate other teams and officials, all in the pursuit of winning a game.
being 'brought up' to be a pain in the arse and to be able to and then encouraged to cheat and argue will not help the 90 odd percent of kids who are dropped from professional football along the academy paths.. they will find a smack in the mouth or an emplyer telling them to piss off very difficult to take..
I was once at the leeds road site when the pruning of the town academy took place..there were some very distressed youths and some very angry parents..getting to keep the track suit and the kit bag wasnt the prize most expected to be leaving with.. there were dozens of them and clearly the hard truth was far too much to bear ...

Think of the embarrassing Sport relief games played by blokes who think they're handy alongside a bunch of out of condition ex-pros, and then compare it to the womens world cup games.....I think I know where there's more skill and pace on display.

It'll be a travesty if France don't win this.
Easily the best side to watch so far in the tournament.

No. I'm watching too. Jammy Krauts. Unfortunately France look shattered. Germany will probably win in extra time. They still look strong.
