Should make us a nice profit next summer I'm hoping this one's a keeper. Could be the keystone of a promotion squad. I prefer him as an Attacking Midfielder...

did ok..its difficult to tell in a very 'friendly'.. might be a bit more competetive at Barnsley.. what I saw, I liked.. reminds me of a younger jonathan douglas type character, which on his better days, is a very hard working and useful at both ends midfielder..

He has good feet and gets his head up when in possession. As we know though against the best teams in this league there are some very high class central midfielders. It's a huge step up from league one or friendly games even against decent spaniards. Better players than him can be outclassed by the claytons, leadbitters, Hughes, Brysons, huddlestones, etc. he has definite promise tho.

A few have mentioned Kyle being one footed, far from it scored some good goals for us last season with his left, go to YouTube 'look for 'Kyle Dempsey the unknown Messi goals and skills' Kyle is a player who in the early stages will frustrate and excite, best player I have coached and has the potential to play in the premiership if nurtured well. Uses both feet well, leaps well to win balls in the air, has strength, vision beyond his years. He is a determined young man who is a winner and has the desire to succeed. If your club has the same desire and ambition as Kyle you will end up Champion league winners ? i wish Kyle and the terriers well this season. COYB

I thought he did alright last night, he certainly showed something I feel has been missing in our midfield for a while - the ability to win the ball and the willingness to press forward with it. Admittedly he didn't always get it right but he's a young lad and I feel he'll improve.
As it seems there's plenty of comparisons about him, he reminds me a bit of Micky Kennedy, but the way he runs with his chest out a bit looks like Lillis.

Wasn't at the game but have noticed that he tweeted last night basically admitting his first half performance wasn't great but was glad to have had a better second half.

You clearly weren't at the game. Gave the ball away numerous times and was just generally poor, he certainly won't be a star playing like that

He did ok, he works hard and clearly from previous displays at Carlisle he has footballing ability, therefore its not a bad start and having witnessed lots and lots of 'generally poor performances' from Town and various team members, Dempsey didnt fall into that category last night.. we played a team that do try and bore the opposition into giving up the will to live and it makes for difficult watching at times.. we managed to give away only one free kick in a properly dangerous position so that was a big plus for me..

Could not get there last night but the overall view appears to be: "looks like a league 1 player" "Best player tonight" Pretty average tonight" "a bit raw but boy have we unearthed one here" I assume you all went to the same game!

This lad is going to be a star. Sounded like our midfield dynamo and best player tonight. Thoughts of those who attended? Agree. This lad is good. He seems to have an excellent engine and was the most positive Town player on the park last night, constantly trying to carry the ball forward. Conor who??

For me some people need to look beyond the odd mistake, missed place pass etc and look at the bigger picture. Ones criticising have failed to do that. The overall package looked very promising, real high energy player, brave, skilfull, athletic, positive and can pick a pass. Ran his arse off all night and still looked fresh as a daisy when he went off. Obviously raw but he's 19, just come from L2 and playing against DLC in his home debut! Not sure what some folk expect! Very good prospect IMO. Great debut.

Deary me.
How we can expect our club to identify a good CB, when we have polar opposite opinions on one player in a single game.
Saying that

on a really, really good day for the team, Holmes is your man to bring on and add a further spark to a good performance..
on every other day, which could well be a great deal of the time, Dempsey will give you application and attitude and god willing the occasional bit of quality required.
Im all for Town playing on the front foot and adding some spark to the way we go forward but we do need to walk before we can run and on most occasions the 'gifted' players we have will have to use perspiration before or along with inspiration in equal measures..
