Sky tv with sports now approaching 600 quid Ditch the lying self serving Murdoch's who are ruining football and and democracy and get down to support a real team. Get yourself off crack and onto real ale. The irony is though, it is the club's increased windfall from Sky that has enabled the ST prices to be cut!

Its a huge gamble by the club IMo because if the take up isn't good, the end result will be that we are even further away financially from the bulk of the clubs at this level. Its very much - 'over to you, the people of Kirklees...are you interested in having a Championship football club in Huddersfield or not?' There are now no excuses left. captain.. its football the excuses are us being in the lower reaches of the division, the division itself means nothing to some folk.. fact is you cant keep selling, even discounting, a team that isnt challenging for anything, like it or not.. We understand the progress, especially the recent spike in how we approach games but until it produces the results on a regular basis the uninitiated and the yet to be converted will see the results only.. Town will have to as a club offer tangible progress along with the pricing to turn around the slump in attendances because its gone on too long now for any overnight miracle..Whatever anyone thinks or says, additions that cause media attention and excitement are a part of that..we have to 'play the game' to some extent.. The thing is, when we have been near the top of this league or making a number of signings, gates have still hardly increased.

There's been a lot of discussion on here in the recent past about ticket prices and how the current levels were pricing some folk out of attending. There was also a lot of discussion about the negative brand of football that Powell dished out. In each case it seems that the board have listened to what the fans have been saying and acted accordingly. So for those who regularly jump down the throats of people who dare to question the club's policies, decisions, direction etc, please take note. Happy Clapper!!

As well as the cheap price we need a good end to the season to sell significant numbers. All too often we've had a poor run coinciding with the season ticket offer. If we can somehow shore up the defence in the short term and keep banging them in at the other end it might help to create a sense of optimism amongst those that need convincing that the club has a bright future.

There needs to be alot of thought into marketing these tickets. We need to, as a club, get the word out to every corner of kirklees.

This is great news but if they want much bigger crowds it is a stupid idea to cap it at 10,000.I am sure they could sell 16-18000 and maybe more at this price. If it is capped at 10000 and then prices increased only a trickle will follow.I am not berating them for doing this but merely expressing my opinion.Haven't they learned from the price tier system and increased prices on the day that it doesn't work.I honestly believe that if it is capped then there will be a stampede then a trickle. If they are doing this to boost the crowd then it shouldn't be capped as they will shoot themselves in the foot.BTW---I'll be part of the stampede!

That we have to be up near the top of a division...any division.. for them to be interested.....even if the football is entertaining and the cost is dirt cheap? Theres plenty of clubs who don't challenge for anything year after year but get much better backing from their locals than we do. Its also not true because on 3 separate occasions in the past 16 seasons we've been up at, or near, the top of this division for a spell..and each time there was barely a register in terms of better support numbers. The over-riding gripe or excuse for poor support on here has always been cost. Well by the sounds of it, everyone can now watch their local championship club for less than HALF the going rate. So you can't now turn round and say...'actually it wasn't cost really.. it was all about winning football."

I think for the less committed supporter, the cost/simplicity of pay on the day prices is the main issue, not season ticket prices

£179 Fantastic, Now for everyone moaning about footy and the transfer fees that Hoyle is pocketing, Just take note that at these prices not only is Dean getting new players in, Signed a fantastic Manager in DW, He is now in theory giving every single fan who buys a season ticket some of that transfer kitty by reducing the price, Please please please if this is true buy a ticket and get down and support, Brilliant Dean WELL DONE Sir. Agreed. So can all those demanding multi million pound signings take a moment to think where the money will be coming from. We cannot have reduced prices and bigger signings. now you got to know that a few (marcusd, arteee and terriertopack) may think otherwise

So you can't now turn round and say...'actually it wasn't cost really.. it was all about winning football." which other clubs? have they had success over a period of time before? add in that wagner has not added any consistency to the results as yet and you are still asking people to believe as you do? there were more here when we were towards the top end, it didnt last and the gates fell away.. consistency is required, not occasional flashes followed by seasons of average or below average.. people need to buy in with time spent, not odd seasons or runs of games.. being consistently around 17th wont add the numbers you think even at a lower cost.. lower cost is a start but the numbers required need building and that can only be brought about by consistent success, the top end somewhere in this league more than once.. people buying 2 season cards are still being asked to spend almost 400 quid..after our recent history we have got to be offering/delivering more than cheap seats, sorry but true.. What are you expecting you didnt pay much for it??? your getting what you paid for?? that will bring them back wont it?? I go to watch town play, as we gain success im prepared to pay more. Simply put, town can shift more season cards but not on the promise and not just because they are cheaper, it might be good for me and you to watch us being 17th and the highest we have been for ages, for less but its just not impressive enough for those who no longer go or dont go at all.. Its a start..but its going to have to be backed up or we might have well as kept the 8500 paying the price.. I hope it all comes together but cheap football isnt the 'entertainment magnet' it once was, plenty of other things to do. This is not a go at anyone just a realistic look at our gates and what it takes to get more people through them. The price can be cheap but the product cant be, people wont go out of their way unless they 'like it'.. I dont think seriously that many people want to go to town on a saturday to watch the other team, not enough anyway and not for long enough..Keep the cheap season cards going and see how it works after the summer transfer period, see if town can enthuse that extra support with actions.. They dont have to sell the cards to me, even at full price, I support the club..if you are asking people to buy into a promise and a rise in our expectations as long time supporters you will find it very tough, they lack belief and our hope.. telling them they have no reasons not to buy now, just ignores a lot of our recent history.

If Dean is giving the fans cheap tickets then the major task is persuading those extra fans to renew at standard prices. That will only happen with us having a season challenging near the top. That will cost money. It seems to me that Dean is gonna "have a go" next season and if that is the case then supporters would be off their rockers to miss out on such an offer.

The sheer greed in football these days makes me sick. Dean ought to be shouting this initiative from the rooftops and hoping some other clubs follow suit. About time some of the ridiculous money in the game went back to the people who make it all possible. This from a club already running at a loss too. I dare say most clubs will be putting up prices and paying their players even more next season.

Surely the only way to offer such low price championship season tickets is for the club to " subsidize this venture " with money coming in from other areas of the business.
Hoyle did mention recently that the club would be receiving " more tv money next season " , and doubt this offer would not have been made were the club to make a loss.
There has to be a balance somewhere , and the offer being put on the table must make town the cheapest home admission in the championship
I am actually surprised to these prices being revealed now especially as the club is yet to know for sure to what league they will be playing in next season.
Bradford did a similar low price offer to their fans last season , but that was at first division level.
Mr Hoyle did not get where he is today by not taking a business gamble , and long may the club stay in his safe hands.

I can afford it and I owe my team something. Like a number of exiles on this board I will buy a season ticket for £179 and send it down to my father who is 85 and doesn't go anymore, although he's an avid Oggy/Kieran listener. He can lend it out for me.

I dont know any. Huddersfield...at £399 a week the lowest average wage in England. 20% immigrants in the town with no interest in footy. 3 years of negative football. A feeble matchday experience..pubs, entertainment, food, facilities (we cant even get the scores on the TVs). Crap parking. Expensive tickets. I think at 12k crowds they are doing OK!

In the championship, we're now the 3rd worst supported club, so naming one won't be an issue. Preston, MK Dons, Bristol, Charlton, Fulham, Bolton Leeds cardiff- have those clubs been flush with success in this division? probably charge more than we do. Same issues with parking, food etc
Now you name one other club who have had many seasons of improved finishes in a row, including a promotion, and have seen their crowds fall for the last 3 years.
You can't keep moving the goalposts. It used to be cost, now when thats getting sorted its just the results ( ignoring the historical evidence against that) . What will it be if we start winning all the time? The weather? We don't have padded seats?
Im not having a sweeping statement that the footballs been negative for the past 3 years, Thats rubbish. Theres been some cracking games since we got promoted. Loads of them. The dull negative games are a small minority, and this idea they don't happen at all clubs is also rubbish. Tell me of a time when we didn't have any dull games?

Do you not think that capping the offer at 10k might be an incentive to get people to buy before the offer goes? In the same way that in restaurants, waiters will say they only have a couple of the xxx starter to encourage people to buy it. As someone else said earlier, I'm sure it would be extended past 10k once that's been achieved.

From what I've been told we only sold around 3,500 ADULT season tickets last season at ~£350. Thats an income of £1.2m.
If we sell 10,000 at £179 that'll be £1,7m.
Hopefully they'll sell well and prove that lower prices means more fans which equals more revenue.

I'm going to call this early and hopefully wrongly. We don't have sufficient floating supporters to hit the big numbers necessary for this to work. Ergo the tickets are too cheap. football should be more expensive than the cinema its got incredible costs to pay for. This price if true makes it cheaper than my local cinema (forget 3d) and cheaper than watching matlock town. I've a nasty feel the cumulative negativity over the last 2 years which this forum is at least partly responsible for means we can't generate the interest. Really hope I'm wrong. My 13 year old who used to go until about 2 years ago said yesterday that actually going to matches was old fashioned when you can 'do it all online' whatever the he'll that means...
