Surely the £10m will be a starting point for negotiations. Many on here think he's crap but the professionals in the club seem to think he could go to the top. I'm inclined to agree it's a possibility. So I guess we're saying he's staying unless it's a very large fee. It's a good stance imo and a good season in L1 with a quality manager and a few more grown ups in the squad might do him the world of good. he has definetely got potential. he can read the game and he has a terrific engine. We the fans note all too often that when it comes to the final act he often fuffs his lines. never seen a proffessional make so many miss kicks. But I bet in training he smacks those in without thinking. He has talent, he just needs his mental side developing. Not akin to pro golfers who just cannot get it done on Sunday - but after mental coaching they crack that nut.

Any chance of it being his turn to get the sandwich order, and being really pissed off, showed it to an opponent in frustration? At least it’s a theory. I don’t want to wait and see. Having looked at some of the threads currently going, there is a strong argument to closedown the site in Summer. Oops. I’ve just added to the bollocks.😣 Would you like me to ban you until the season starts. No charge. If it will help you out

If this is true, why his he still at the club. Personally, its a load a nonsense. Because we want some money for him, thats why.

I'd put the main Transfer Rumours thread pinned at the top of the main board, then individual player threads (which get very tedious) in the sub-board. It's still pinned at the top of the main board - and has been for a while. The problem with having new threads for every rumor (on the main board) is that it drives threads off the first page. People then cannot be arsed searching for them and just create new ones every time a friend of a friend tells them something in the pub, just making the situation worse. Furthermore, we have 17,000 members, so 28 is hardly a majority.

What about Mrs Ruberry? fnarr fnarr. I just do not get this made up balancing the budget story - because promotion to the top league would certainley have balanced a dozen budgets Remained married to Mr. Rubery until her death in 2017. Now you know that's not what I meant

He's just covering his own arse IMO It was widely reported during his tenure that he'd been given a place on the board and ultimate veto of any transfer, incoming OR outgoing. I don't recall any comments about his preference for Martin Smith** at the time, although there's a lot of pints between then and now ** would have been as good as Stewy IMO if he wasn't so fragile and broke so easily. The Finance Director at the time was a chap by the name of Francis Fitzpatrick. Appointed in September 1999. I had the pleasure of working with Francis for a few years before his death in 2022. He told me many many stories from his 18 months at Town Francis told me that the reason Marcus Stewart was sold was purely down to finances. Between Ruberry, Ayre and whoever was the FD before Francis, they got the budget completely and utterly wrong and had to sell Stewart in the transfer winder to stop the club going into Administration. What about Mrs Ruberry? fnarr fnarr. I just do not get this made up balancing the budget story - because promotion to the top league would certainley have balanced a dozen budgets

In the words of Drayltonboy, we will just have to wait and see. (Although I am not happy about it). Too many variables, most noticeably the current squad is fractured and the lack of team spirit is evident. Besides the trimming of bad eggs, there may well be some good eggs that leave as well because of clauses in their contract. Who is going to be left - no clue. Then when you consider, we dont own our ground, we dont own our training facility ( accpeted that we are making improvements there though), and we are in an unfashionable part of the grim North, who would want to come play for us. Yes, there will be plenty of League 2 players who would take our money, looking to advance themesleves, but will they be good enough to make a promotiuon push? Again, no clue. The other option is old championship players looking for a final payday - but they run out of energy on 60 minutes, fit or not fit. I would not put my money on finishing top half (or bottom half for that mater). Its a lottery.

But there is the added bonus of being able to go to Shrewsbury. the fish n chip shop near the ground is the finest I have ever tasted. (note: well it was about 20 years ago) Been there once... I'd driven up from Hereford. It could have been the Warnock bollocking game... it absolutely poured it down. We lost 2-1. I didn't feel like fish and chips after that. the good news is, if we get relegated again, or Swindon come up, the Magic Chippy, just off the Magic Roundabout is still there- not the best, but worthy of a mention.

There was a question from Dave to KN, asking him if he fully understood what relegation means to the fans. He said he did and it hurts. However, KN wasn't around in the '70s when Huddersfield Town were relegated to the third tier for the first time. Of course it got worse and a few years later we were struggling at the bottom of the basement division. These scars from the '70s will never heal and being relegated this time, just brings it all back to me. But there is the added bonus of being able to go to Shrewsbury. the fish n chip shop near the ground is the finest I have ever tasted. (note: well it was about 20 years ago)

ohhh the referee has made a howler there... Linesman fucked up by flagging when they're told to keep the flag down if the ball is central The lad who headed it was clearly onside He did ( the lino) but the ref did not have to blow his whistle

I think you'd be surprised. £160,000 is around a grand a month repayment these days. I'm so out of touch...my 4 bed detached cost me £47,995 .... Feel sorry for young families today... However, HTAFC did used to give discounts to OAPs, and as far as I know still do if you're paying on the gate..I do accept that the cheap SC prices we've seen probably don't justify a further discount for the old 'uns...even though the young 'uns get one. I was only having a whinge tbh..

To avoid the galactic confusion created by prepare in starting two threads with the same identical post I have deleted the thread with the fewest responses. Before anyone moans about me abusing my powers, you cannot merge threads that have identical posts. There had to be a winner and a loser, and this is the winner. Can you fix the typo in the thread title too?! It's irritating me way more than it should for some reason! It's one S FFS! Of course

T'other half has just messaged to say there are rumours that Thomas has agreed a deal with Derby He had better not be playing saturday if he has. Stay at home and give an opportunity to some of the up and coming youngsters. Zorg better not be on the bus either.

Am i right in thinking someone beat us to becoming the first club to win all 4 divisions a few years back? We’ll have a full set this time next year. A few have done it now apparently. Wolves, Sheff Utd, PNE, Burnley and Portsmouth

Maybe the right thing to do but the timing is just so off. How can the timing be off? The last home game of the season is the last home game of the season. This wasn't dreamt up following the Sawansea defeat, it has taken months to plan. And to tbh, if we had beaten Bristol and Swansea everyone would be drooling.
