Ok, I accept that on the ball he leaves a lot to be desired, but I dare say I think a lot of those who are so quick to criticise him aren't watching his movement and influence off the ball, and it's no coencidence that our unbeaten run started with his arrival(although i'm not saying he was solely responsible for it!) For me he is exactly the kind of player we want at this club, even if it's in a player/coach role. If Johnson returns to us in the form he was pre-injury, then a CM pairing of him and Kilbane has me watering at the mouth.
All just my humble opinion of course ;D

Between them they would probably command too much in wages, so I think it's a one or the other decision, and based on their performances this season Johnson wins that competition hands down. Kilbane was brought in for his experience where it would supposedly benefit us in the playoffs but apart from a goal in the first leg, he ultimately failed us in my opinion.

Maybe its time to give some of our promising youngsters a chance now. Kilbane was brought in to do a job and did it. Time now to look elsewhere imo.

I think his decision making is poor, he rushes on the ball too much and plays a near impossible Hollywood ball way too much. One of the reasons we brought him in was for experience, and he hasn't showed a lot of that. But thats just my opinion, of course

agree i dont think people realise what he does. 27 unbeaten says it all, if he was such a liability that just wouldnt have been possible. so many times when he will break down play in front of our area. he's poor with the ball but if he was instructed to keep it simple and just play a short pass when he gets it to someone more capable.
maybe he hasnt had as bigger bearing on the run, but its a big risk letting him go and then realising next season that we were better with him.
even if he's just knocking round the club and on the bench i think he's worth having. doubt his wage demands will be too big given it would probably be his last contract.

We need more dynamism if we are to score the goals to get to automatic. Johnson yes but not Killer.

I hope and pray Clark doesn't sign him, for a guy with a hundred and odd international caps he gives the ball away in dangerous areas far too often and doesn't influence the game nearly enough. He was outshone Sunday by Peterborough's younger and hungrier midfielders.
With what he would want in wages we could sign 2 or 3 that would do a far better job than him. I fear the worst though and I think we'll have yet another overpaid / underperforming veteran on the books for 2 years.

Whoooaaa there not at all, he didn't cover himself in glory but quite a few of our players didn't, it was a team failure on Sunday. What I mean is that his experience was meant to come in handy for the big occasions, but he hasn't delivered in my opinion. At Arsenal his poor decision making led to their penalty, and in the playoffs he was pretty poor in all 3 matches. I know his influence is a bonus to the other players, but I think Johnson has been the far superior of the 2 this season.

Agree with you there, plus the fact that KK has said he has no wish to return to Hull and that they don't want him back would probably drive down his wages. As I said I think he would be a great acquisiton in the player/coach role.

He's inspirational and he's good at plugging gaps defensively and getting others going around him but like many other midfielders, he's more effective in a 5 because he has so many holes in his game... It's not that he's a bad passer it's that he's an absolutely horrendous passer of a ball, he's poor in the tackle and he gets skinned if anyone runs at him. He's decent in the air defensively but he fails to track runners from midfield on a consistent basis ala Brighton away.
There are good points to him, he played a large part in that 27 game unbeaten run and he comes across brilliantly on Talksport and as a personality on the pitch but at 34, 35 next season and on apparently big wages I wouldn't make him my first choice and probably wouldn't sign him at all... I know it's a big ask but I'd be looking to try and get the next Liam Trotter or Darren Pratley to pair them up with Arfield or Johnson for next season.

I'd be happy starting the season with Johnson (assuming he's fit), Arfield, Gudjonsson and Atkinson

Whats that Jimmy Abdou (check spelling) doing these days? The lad that was at Millwall? I would love him at town. We need a combative, athletic midfielders, one who gets around the pitch, CAN PASS, can tackle etc etc.... There has to be someone out there who'd compliment with the likes of Arfield, possibly Johnson/and/or Joey? I'd like Atkinson to be bled through this year, but starting off the year on loan, very much in the mould of Jack Hunt.

Fair comment but I beg to differ with you on his tackling, i think he is superb in the tackle.

Think we need a more aggressive in your face type player who can press the opposition, track and be effective with the ball - big ask but there must be a few around.

Sunday was the first time KK looked his ages. Off the pace and poor distribution when it mattered. His wages will be big and therefore at 35 not worth it IMO. Defensive midfielders etc is not what we need. Johnson, Peltier, Joey & Kay can all do that job. We need some creativity. As much as he's a diving git, Boyd was at the hub of everything Peterborough did. We don't have that reliable go to player. If we get the midfield right we can then play 2 up front at home and away and take games to teams next year...

The semi and final were I thought his worst performances. I dont know how true this is but I believe we pay half of his £22,000 wage. I would like to see someone with younger quicker legs.

Def would like Johnson. Not KK though. If we have Johnson as the defensive midfielder we can play with a much more attacking midfielder alongside him (someone who can pop up with a fair few goals), don't think KK fits this bill. Plus i just don't think he's very good either
