If they had bid for Mooy in the first week of the transfer window he could have been recalled by City though, it has been revealed that was the cutoff point for a recall. apologies on that I was unaware of that clause.. seems a dangerous one for us to have accepted...I hope any further loans we do are protected given Wagners record so far in getting them very right.. I'd see it more as a very slick and pragmatic bit of work by DW and DH. Gave us time to get a replacement if the worst had come to the worst.

What a great piece of business this is by the board. Writing in that clause just shows how astute they are. What a brilliant piece of work.
Great work guys, Im delighted my club is in such safe hands.

I was also unaware, could have sworn i'd seen it in writing that there was no recall clause. Normally the club do state there is a recall option in January, which in this case they didn't. Stated instead Aaron Mooy is ours for the entire 2016 / 2017 season, perhaps it was that that threw me... Maybe it's as well, just imagine this board in November and December if that clause had been made public. Quite common place these 'loan breaks' as they call them these days. Hiwula had one in his loan when he joined Bradford and I believe Izzy Brown did at Rotherham. I know, the difference is we were told we had recall options, with Mooy we werem't. Hiwula Loan.

Oggy alluded to this before a game earlier in the month saying that a key deadline had passed for loan players to be recalled from Town by their clubs, at the time I thought he was referring to Palmer what with Brown signing for us but now it makes complete sense that Mooy was the unnamed loanee to whom he was referring.

Makes me wonder about Mooys "injury"....wonder if it was more about keeping him out of the limelight whilst the two clubs and Mooy had sensible discussions? He seems like quite a reserved fella who wouldn't want a fuss (or talks quiet anyway).
Palmers "injury" appears in reality to have been him having become a parent ?!

Some of the comments from Brighton fans about him:
Mooy has been superb tonight, 2 unbelievable no-look reverse passes and a brilliant shot off the post stand out
Mooy has completely dominated us and he hasn't even jogged yet.
Any of our Australian friends watch the match?

His back pass header tonight was the only serious mistake I've seen him make for us but he made up for it and more during rest of the match so we'll let him off.

He knew he made a big mistake giving Brighton their only chance tonight, he looked gutted after they scored but as you say we can let him off for it, best player for Town this season, I love him, can we please win promotion just so we have a chance of keeping him?

You make a valid point actually, whenever I've seen him lose posession the first thing he does is bust a gut to get it back, often successfully. Quality player.

Watched the first half but then had to go to work, very impressed with the whole team tbh. The closing down was brilliant, the ball was won back almost instantaneously each time it was given away. The defensive aspect of Mooy's game has really lifted a notch under wagner; closing down, pressing and tackling all improved. Great to see.

He was just trying to warm Danny Ward's hands up but the useless get didn't save it . Seriously though he is an incredible footballer, far and away the best I've ever seen at Town. The POTY vote would be impossible to call this season if it wasn't for Mooy.

I watched the second half, thank you to those who provided the links to a stream, but saw the first half highlights at the end of the game.
Firstly, Town were fantastic and the quality was there for all to see. We played as a unit and totally shut Brighton down, Brighton didn't even get a sniff. The pressing was unbelievable and I think any top team in the top 5 leagues in the world would love to have that. The style that was played when we have the ball was so positive which I guess makes football easy to play when you win the ball in their half. Town shouldn't be looking over their shoulder, worried about making the playoffs. Town should be looking to make the automatic qualification spots and winning the league. It truly is in their hands.
oh and since it is the Mooy thread, he was brilliant as usual and he allows his teammates to shine around him. Another top class performance.

He wasn't at his best tonight. Twice in the first few minutes he was robbed in possession- that almost never happens to Mooy. Brighton were ready for him, but what Mooy has other than tremendous ability is his heart and self belief. He's a born winner. He came back to impose himself alongside Hogg who was the best player on the pitch tonight. They totally dominated...Some of Mooy's passing tonight was audacious and his pass to out Wells in for the third was sublime. If he and Hogg stay fit, we could well go up.

Mooy was playing at a level above the B&H midfield tonight. Absolute quality. His passing, calmness and control of the game was complete. His best game in a town shirt, against supposedly top quality opposition.

Mooy has completely dominated us and he hasn't even jogged yet.Any of our Australian friends watch the match? I've been reading this board since the pre-season and have been immensely pleased to see the plaudits for Mooy. I had little doubt he would do exceptionally well but like others was a bit disappointed he wasn't playing further up the park. But the balance in the team, again as shown today especially now with Brown, proves the coach has it right. It's become a bit depressing for us Aussies since we now have no one in the Premier League, distant are the days when we had the likes of Kewell, Viduka and a few other PL players. We also had a few in the top flight in Italy, Spain & Holland. Sadly hardly any these days there either. At least we have a half decent domestic league these days, ironic that we have that when we had a very shitty league set up at the same time we had lots of Aussies playing decent levels in Europe. Not sure why that is, plenty still try their luck over seas but too many now take the easy option of coming home to play or going to China/Korea rather than gutsing it out to impress in Europe. They never develop into the players they could be. As far as midfielders go, Mooy is probably close to the best we've produced. There is not a facet of his game that is not an 8/10. Ok, he's agree he's not lightening quick. Nice to be able to watch the game live today and again Mooy gave the expected first class display. Having made a rare error leading to Brighton's goal he then was instrumental in the lead up to HFC's second & third goals. The middle of the park was his. The opposition coaches are dumb not to number up against the best central midfielder in the league. Mooy simply dominates the midfield, especially if the opposition give him far too much time as Brighton did today. But Mooy manufactures his own time, creates the space & then makes excellent distribution decisions, he knows when the play needs to go forward quickly and when to pull back. The defensive effort he puts in to close down and win back the ball, which he often succeeds, is the icing on the cake. A coach's dream. Certainly from what he has displayed this season, he could easily play in the majority of PL teams. And at Championship level, he's the first picked player who you build a team around. With the addition of Brown, who looked really good today, Huddersfield now have a team that can and should finish in the league's top two positions. I'm hoping you guys win promotion and for your sake buy Mooy outright. As much as I'd like to see him doing the same stuff at a big club like Manchester City, he would at least be playing every week at HFC. You'd build a team around him. So onto Leeds and another win!!!!!!!!!!!

This Hogg-Mooy-Brown combination I think will light up the second half of the season. Brown brings in a quality that was lacking. It opens Mooy up to be the total boss because teams now have to worry about Brown and the quality runs and balls he adds to the equation. I think we saw that today with the huge amount of time that Mooy had on the ball. Anytime they tried to close him down, they tried to double team him, he released the ball to space. Whenever they respected Mooy's teammates, he just ran the show. Pity he didn't hit the inside of the post as it would have brought the stadium down!

I was completely mesmerized by Mooy. He does seem to stroll around with all the time in the world. He did remind me of how Frank Lampard destroyed us the last time we were in the fifth round.

Wasn't at his best? The guy was sensational. What I initially took to be a lack of pace and mobility when I first saw him is in fact an almost surreal ease and command of the ball ie he doesn't have to break his neck. His ability to calmly hold it change direction evade two opponents and pick out the pass is just fantastic. Then when he needs to he hits the tackle hard. He is hands down the best midfielder in the last 40 years for town. I'd say he suits the system rather than is flattered by his teammates workrate.

Yep, I caught the whole match and I have to say on that and a few other perfomances that the Terriers are good enough to win automatic promotion. I dont think there's any side in this league that you can't beat and right now you would knock off a lot of Premier League teams. So all the best for the rest of the season and hope to see you in the Premier League next season with Mooy as a permanent signing. By the way who is /are Brighton's gun players? The way they were completely outplayed in this match I couldn't say any of them impressed me. Hopefully they collapse from here on in. That fullback of theirs should have been off in the first few minutes, the referee completely bottled that one.

I think 'started slowly' may be more accurate, because it's true, he had his pocket pinched at least a couple of times early doors in situations he ordinarily wouldn't (but most would). Other than that though, him and Hogg totally and utterly bossed them!

Didn't get in until 12:30, and wife was fast asleep. Didn't let that put me off though, just popped her Mooy wig on, and got on with it😜 The man is a genius, I feel honoured to have witnessed some of the best midfield performances ever by a man in the famous blue and white stripes.
