Lack of goals going to cost the Aussies Maybe. I still fancy Japan to take a point in Jeddah though

Shocking decision to not give Thailand a penalty. Could have been a red card too

Want to express my sincere gratitude to Herr Wagner for taking Mooys game to a new level. Best midfield performance I've seen in Socceroos shirt. 118 passes the most in Asia for this round of qualifying. Might have not completed about 2 that i saw. One assist. Hit the post. Corner that leads to second goal.

Since living in Aus from 2010 Robbie Kruse and Mathew Leckie always seemed to get the hype. Great to see Mooy become the lynchpin of the team by quietly getting on with his development.

A lot of Aussies ( not sure if you were one) were berating DW for playing him in the wrong position a year ago... seems to me mooy is developing month on month and its hard to predict how good he is going to be

If he was English I'd wager that he'd be off to the world cup with England providing he stays fit. We're chronically short of number 8's, he'd walk straight into the team.

He played higher up the park for my club Melb City. So seeing him deeper didn't make sense. Shows how much I know.

Especially since the amount of success he had at AM for both Melbourne City and the Australian team. It seemed daft to play him deeper, but obviously DW saw all of Mooy's qualities and has been proven correct.

Said this t Mrs last night watching the game. We have gone from not knowing how to get all our midfielders into the team to having none of any notable ability. Livermore, the vastly over hyped Henderson wouldn't get in towns team at the moment for me.

Yet neither have ever really shown anything at international level for all those years. I think it shows our lack of options that these guys still keep getting picked every game.

They are all 'decent' but the CM's called up to the previous squad: Henderson Dier Livermore Chalobah They are all Hogg rather than Mooy. Such a shame injuries and attitude ruined Wilshere.

Mooy is exactly what England need. Henderson and Dier are unable to thread balls through midfield to Alli and that's our main problem. Would be interesting to see how Loftus-Cheek develops because he looked very good second half against us for Palace.

Given what we have at our disposal, I'd argue we'd be better off trying to play more direct counter attacking football. It's not really my cup of tea, but think Leicester-esque 442 with 2 sitting midfielders.

Think games v Malta etc require a totally different outlook - against the ultra defensive teams. No point trying to play your normal 4-2-3-1 set up and thread balls through the middle. Just stick a couple of big lads up front and wang balls up to them in the box from all directions.

It's not really my cup of tea, but think Leicester-esque 442 with 2 sitting midfielders. I can see the sense in that. However, I still think we would be better sticking to 4-2-3-1 as we would need the screen of 2 against the better teams. Think it was almost impossible for Henderson to thread balls through to Alli as I think Alli got a bit over excited early on and ended up playing in front of Kane a lot of the time. I think they pulled him back deeper behind Kane in the second half and we played much better and it was easier for Henderson to link up with him. Not quite sure why Henderson gets so much grief to be honest - he's not that bad and he's good at driving the team up the pitch. Having said that - didn't like the tactics after we scored the second one bit. We were just inviting them on and playing too deep and could easily have cost us an equaliser. We need to show better intent and go on and control the game by scoring a third goal. They were on the rack and we nearly let them back in.

A fully fit Hogg in that role is just as good as the others IMO.

Much better for Town if Mooy gets a rest next summer.
