If you ask most Town fans, their memorable moments will include Steve Simonsen, Chris Billy and dancing with Barnsley fans.
However, the Peterborough thread got me thinking about average, run of the mill games which turned out to be pretty memorable.
Three to get us started.
1. Town 3-2 Brentford. Think this was also the 'who shot Jay Tabb?' game. Back in the days when Brentford were a team of elbows, we scored twice in injury time to win 3-2.
2. Hartlepool 0-1 Town. There were days not too long ago when we went to Hartlepool as heavy underdogs! We had been on a bad run and had an eye on the relegation zone creeping up on us. Went to Play Off chasing Hartlepool on a Friday night; they battered us but we won 1-0 after Boothy nodded in a wayward shot from Pav. Lots of "Adnan, Adnan, Adnan Ahmed" chants to the Amarillo tune from the away end!
3. Wednesday 4-4 Town. Rhodes was absolutely unplayable. For his last goal I just remember the ball hitting the net and bedlam ensuing. Someone grabbed me in such a way that my hat got pulled over my face - spent a good few minutes jumping around blind.

There are so many games which turned out to be real crackers but It would take too long to list them all.
1/ One of my favourite games was Town V Scunthorpe United back when Buxton had just taken over as the new Town manager . By half time Town were trailing 0 - 2 and there were all the usual moans down at Leeds road . Town roared back in the second half and eventually ran out 3-2 winners. I think Fletcher scored one but I unsure about the other two. Buxton had showed his worth and it was the dawn of a new era where Buxton became one of the most popular manager's Town ever had.
2/ I always remember a game we had against Bolton Wanderers where Town smashed Bolton on the first game of the season 4-1 , and that's after we had lost to Bolton in both legs of the league cup. I believe Curran scored as did Edwards but I am a little unsure . There were plenty of Bolton supporters there, obviously thinking that they were going to beat Town , ha , ha.
3/ As for away games , Hereford United away was absolutely bonkers,I think Town went on to win 1-3 but Hart managed to score an own goal from the half way line . I remember being a few miles out of Hereford in pristine countryside driving along with a few mates and seeing a group of Town fans running across open fields miles from nowhere !

Last game of the season 2-1 win at Brentford. Nothing to play for but the match descended in a free for all and Warnock had to bring Jeppo on to sort out the men from the boys.
Coming from 4-0 down to draw at Bury.

Remember coming from 4 1 down in last 15 mins at bury back in mid 90's was on verge of leaving, but gut instinct said stay!

6-0 at home to Wycombe, looked like Brazil that day. Not only that it was actually funny watching Theo miss Lord knows how many sitters, one that he actually seemed to dance round the box and keeper with the ball before still making a pigs ear of it. It could and should have been at least 10-0

I once skived off school and went down to Wycombe on a Tuesday night. We were embroiled in a playoff push and looked steady at 2-0 up, threw it away and headed into the last minute at 2-2.
I think it was Kenny Irons who nicked the winner, cue fans on the pitch and jubilant scenes from about 300 away fans.
Leon Knight grabbed another and we won 4-2, scorings two goals in the 90th minute. Got a detention for missing school but it sure was worth it. Mustve been the 2001/2002 season.
I've looked at the A/L Rota at work and I cant book it off. Looks like I'll have to invent a meeting or two in order to get down to Villa Park for the match next month, let's hope its as special.

About 5,000 had left in the crowd when we got the equaliser and winner but what an atmosphere! This was my favourite season and such a shame we didn't make it up.

Christ your memory is a bit ropey on the Bolton game, it wasn't the first game of the season, it was the 5th!! We had already lost to Southend and Swansea in the league and the 2 cup games. It was also 4-0 but Keith Edwards did score, a hat trick and Iwan scored the other. Other than that it was a good game with loads of Bolton.

Cant remember the year, maybe 96 or 97 but it was one of my first proper away games, or atleast the earliest i can remember
Away at Crewe, middle of the season and we destroyed them 5-1. Think I can remember Stewart, Dalton and CHIEF being on the scoresheet.
I quickly learnt that not all away games following Town were as enjoyable as that one

Remember travelling down to a mid-week game at Exeter in 1990(?) and we were 2-0 down and I think we had Simon Charlton sent off. Somehow scored twice in last 10-15 minutes to get a draw.

5-3 win at Cambridge on a Tuesday night having played the Autoglass Final on the Sunday. John Beck refused to move the fixture thinking Town would be knackered and easy meat. Warnock, Starbuck, et alia proved him wrong!

Lincoln away one Christmas after they had won EVERY home game up until then and had just beaten Bournemouth 9-0 at Sincil Bank. Walking away after our 2-1 win a Bobby said to me "better take your [blue and white] hat off, pal - they're not going to like this"

a 1-0 win at Stockport in the autoglass trophy back in 1993/94. Doesn't get more run of the mill than that.
But it turned out to be an enormously significant game for Town.
Stockport , up near the top of the table, were far better than us that season and had just pumped us about 5-0 in a league game at edgeley park. We were shite..proper shite in Colin's first season and heading for relegation to the bottom division without question. Not the ideal way to open the new stadium the following season!
But somehow we went to stockport that night and won 1-0, totally against the run of play and against all the odds. Remember the prolific Alun Armstrong missing a string of sitters.
From there the cup run went all the way to wembley- it galvanised the team and the fans, results totally turned around and we survived in the league comfortably., then went on the be promoted the following season.
If we'd lost that game, we'd have gone down. No doubt at all about that IMO. Warnock would have been sacked. Boothy would have been sold for a fraction of what he would be a couple of years later. We'd have moved into the new stadium with no momentum at all. Probably gone into administration and lost our share of the ground before we'd ever played in it. It all turned to shite almost a decade later i suppose anyway, but the end outcome would probably have been very different to what were seeing now.

The 6-0 at Stockport was a cracker. Sold out half the ground and a baking hot day. Some decent goals including a free kick from Drinkwater.
The 3-2 against Scunthorpe with McAliskey scoring the winner was a good un.
Some great away days at Wednesday when we took a lot of fans. 3-1 on a wet Tuesday night with pilkington and Carey scoring. The 4-4 too.
