He's a centre half, and not a quick one at that. Surely when we're chasing a game we can't keep sending him on. May be unpopular, but we're paying the price of only having one proven goalscorer. Hef may be a character but we need better than this up front.

If we're still in with a realistic shout of promotion in January I expect that a striker will be brought in.
I argued the case that we didn't need a 3rd striker. I was wrong. Or, I was more right than I realised, because even with a 3rd striker I wouldn't have put us 2nd after 9 games.
But yeah, it's a glaring weakness in the squad. A big CF would pretty much complete our squad. Basically we need somebody like Ishmael Miller, only not shit.

Payne would have been an interesting option for me, late on, keep Hudson at the back. Still throw Hef up and have Payne just behind for any second ball.

Couldn't understand the Bunn for Palmer sub. myself. Palmer (although admittedly young) seems to have a goal in him for the skill quotient alone. On another point (then I'll shut up (possibly), please don't put Cranie in at left back on Tuesday Herr Wagner.

Hoyle pretty much said on RL a few weeks ago if we're up there in Jan he'll get a striker in

The old striker issue rears it's head again....but yes, it's pretty obvious, to me anyway that we need one.

Yeah I have to take issue with that too, only 26 minutes had elapsed and it was still 0-0, we were still in the game with a long way to go, I could have understood it if we were reduced to 10 on 80 minutes to keep the point but with still such a long way to go we should have still been looking to get a goal.

If you disagree fair enough.

How did Bunn do today when he came on? I find it interesting that he can get game time when the likes of Payne, Scannell and Billing can't.
That comes across as a dig but isn't meant as a nasty one I just see them 3 as better players.

We obviously need a third striker. We're only 9 games into the season and I bet Hefele's been shoved up front in 3 of them so far? He looks useless there, and no surprise really.

I love Nahki and his reaction to VLP shows his passion and hard work but he's frustrating to watch when he misses crucial sitters. None more crucial than today when all of them worked so hard under the pressure of 10. On the subject of The Heff we need to give the lad a break. He's hardly played and when he is he's played out of his normal position. According to Wiki he's a defender.

Hef may be a character but we need better than this up front. Your right in a way. However, sticking Hef up front created a lot of mayhem and chances. It meant our keeper just had to boot it down the ground towards Hef and it was an easy way to pick up second balls and dominate - which we did. Not quite sure why Huddy went up front as well - seemed to get in the way more than anything and was out on his feet anyway.

Maybe he could have done.

Bojaj not getting games at Killie... none of us know whether he'll turn out to be good enough admittedly, but if he's not getting on the pitch up there he might as well be not getting on the pitch here. He'd be an option if we needed it at least, can't recall until Jan anyway though so it's academic.

He's not going to develop without playing, if he isn't going to play he might as well at least be training with the rest of our players and working with our coaching staff. Disclaimer: Of course, he MAY be injured, in which case me bringing him into the discussion was pointless anyway. In my defence I've been drowning my sorrows (or celebrating a brave and gritty performance!) all evening!

Been peeping at Reading forum. A lot of them very complimentary about our 2nd half showing, but equally saying we missed some sitters late on. How many exactly, if you were there ?

Kachunga missed the easiest .....it hit his shoulder when a flick header would at least have worked the keeper more. There were no absolute sitters though - a few near misses from wells and some great balls in from smith which went begging............but dont lets over criticise. Poor officiating and a stupid decision from a player have cost us today ultimately and if we replicate it on tues with 11 we will win imho.

People saying we need a 3Rd striker? Sorry if it obvious...but who's our 2nd striker?! Kachunga? To me he's much more dangerous out wide. He doesn't have the strikers instinct or positional sense.

The biggest sitter was missed by Wells, a drilled low cross from Kachunga went past everyone and somehow Wells completely missed his kick with the goal at his mercy at the back post. Someone feel free to correct me if I've somehow misremembered this chance.

On another point (then I'll shut up (possibly), please don't put Cranie in at left back on Tuesday Herr Wagner. I assumed it's because Bunn is more disciplined, but he got rinsed on the edge of our box before they scored their goal, and rinsed again in the second half when only a very good block stopped a good shot. Palmer has much more about him and tracked back well last week, so for that alone I thought he'd earned the right to stay on yesterday.

Personally prefer Palmer (or Payne) too... but hard to argue with Wagner's decision here given the level of team performance that followed. Admittedly there were no obvious Bunn highlights on the radio coverage, but presumably he contributed to the team effort of keeping them at bay until we threw everything at them later on.
