Just before half time when a few of us were behind the stand having a beer and watching the game through the stand openings, a power mad old boy steward came out telling people to move as we were drinking in view of the pitch. I understand that there is a law regarding this but this steward was being an absolute prick and causing a situation for no reason, his language was appalling and is very lucky that his actions didn't cause bother. They have never tried to enforce this before which I told him but the main problem is that you could stand right at the back next to the toilets and still be able to see some of the pitch !! The signs only state that alcohol must not be taken past the points into the stadium, maybe someone could get clarity on this because on another day that steward would have been mullared for acting like that !

perhaps a yellow hatch area , like on roads ..no drinking 'til your exit is clear..or something like that ?
Seemed to be a lot of security on Sunday despite the 1,000 seat no go zone...

I suggest emailing the club and tackle it that way.

No alcohol within sight of the pitch is the law, although I witnessed this myself and the steward was having a mare tbh.
Fundamentally though, you are in the wrong, so there is no point challenging it other than to report the behaviour of the steward. I'll be honest, from where I was standing it looked very much like 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Thought you could drink in the boxes so long as your not out in the seats, that's within view of the pitch Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

You can watch it on the TVs on the wall though. Same as watching on the concourse TVs I guess.

That certainly isn't true, the whole point of paying for a box is so that you can see the match in comfort. As I stated in the earlier post you can go right back to the toilets and still see a section of the pitch so unless you close your eyes it's near on impossible to have a beer behind the goal and not catch a glimpse of the pitch. Are we classed as outside of the stadium as such because we're also allowed to smoke our there ?

Oh and by the way it certainly wasn't 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, the steward was a complete prick and if you'd seen it from the off you would have known that

I've been in boxes where the blinds have been closed prior to kick off, and the law states you can't be in view of the pitch while drinking alcohol, so it is true. How strongly and consistently it's enforced is another matter, but speaking from first hand experience, I can tell you that they do at least attempt to enforce it.

Was he in the wrong to do that? What if 500 of us all go and buy a pint at half time then decide we want to stand in view of the pitch just before half time? I didn't see it from the off, it just caught my attention as it escalated into what looked like could be heading into something unnecessary.

This happened to me in the FML there is a sign up saying no alcohol beyond this point so I stood the right side of the sign and then a steward came and told me to move as I could see the pitch I told him to get lost and he brought his 4 mates to tell me I couldn't drink on the right side

I know they are right and that is what the law states but no one is causing any trouble so why do the power mad stewards try to enforce it and consequently cause an unnecessary situation !!
