Does the arrival of mounie and depoitre spell the end at town for nakhi wells? With kachunga and big colin able to play striker if needed surely he must be pushed down the pecking order. Discuss....

Not sure, Wagner likes to rotate and I think Nahki may be able to make the step up. His all round play improved massively last season although he was not that prolific in front of goal.
I would want to keep him but for me he has to sign an extra year if he wants to stay. If he is not willing to commit to that and an 8 million or more offer came in I would be considering it.

I think there will be some gratitude shown for what Wells did for us since we signed him and at least give him a go to start with. If he really looks out of his depth there will probably be some Championship club desperate to sign him in the Jan transfer window if the money's right. If we are going to have some rotation going on then having Wells, Quaner, Kachunga, Mounie and Depoitre isnt that daft when you consider Kachunga and Quaner could still be used as wide cover, especially if someone like Scannell moves on.

Interesting Nahki retweeted town's signings of Mooy, Ince, Williams and Palmer but not Depoitre and Mounié 🤔

It's because he's well into Poldark and hates the French

Much will depend on whether he is prepared to sign a new contract. If he doesn't, Town will be loathe to let him run down his current contract and go for nothing at the end of the season. Rather than risk that they'll try to move him on.

Why are people always so quick to get rid of good players just cos we sign a few?

Why are people always so quick to get rid of good players just cos we sign a few? I am not sure that anyone is strongly suggesting we should get rid. I'm not. BUT, Nahki needs to demonstrate ongoing commitment to the club by agreeing a new contract. If he does that he can still be a useful part of the squad.

No. The squad was small last season and lacked class in depth. No disrespect to those in the play off final, but other than Palmer there wasnt any "game changers" on the bench in my opinion. What you need in the prem is class on the bench. Thats what we lacked last season at times.

I wouldn't think so, but if rumours are true that Burnley are going to offer £8m, he may be gone.

If he does that he can still be a useful part of the squad. I wonder if they've given him a deadline to sign. For all we know he may have signed it already. Town aren't usually forthcoming about contract situations over the summer, there is no news on Whitehead either. If he chooses not to sign it before the start of the season then I would normally expect the club will look to sell in the current window like they did with Clayton but who knows given the PL windfall, Wagner may well want Nahki this season and DH usually gives him what he wants and the need to 'make money' isn't as important as it once was. See away allocations last year. The priority seems to be on competitive advantages these days.

He will stay and be a big part of the club unless a really good offer for both club and player gets tabled.
As others have said, we had a really small squad last year. Signing Mounie and Depoitre simply means that we bring our striking options to 4. Wells, Quaner, Mounie, and Depoitre. 4 strikers is about average for a premiership club. Kachnunga is a 5th but the way he made the right-wing/forward position his own and the chemistry he developed with Tommy Smith down the right, means they would still be my first choice starting players on the right.
Also at Wembely did you see in the highlights how hard Hoyle and Wells embraced. You can almost read the conversation "there you go Nanki, I promised you, if you signed you'd get to be a premiership player. Now you have your chance".
He's also a great person to have around, he constantly wants to improve himself, work hard and be the best he can be. Wells deserves the chance to at least show whether he can cut it at the top level of football.

I should imagine that Mounié and Depoitre are both quite likely to miss the odd spell through suspension and injury because of the nature of their game.
Nahki is the ideal player to come on from the bench every now and the and demonstrate he's up to scratch...whilst bagging a few Cup goals along the way, ahead of getting a move on a freebie next summer.
We'll have had our value from him over the last few seasons, not sure £8m outgoing transfers (which are probably more like £5m) this summer are quite as critical this summer as they might have been historically....especially as Bradford probably have a £75m sell on fee!?

I would keep him but he's on the bench. We need more than two strikers.
You'very got to remember there are cup ties too.
