I know it's only one game, but Lössl looked like a Premier League keeper yesterday in a way that Ward never did.
Incredible reactions, great reach, confident in the air in a crowded box, decent distribution, an effortlessly long kick..
...if we'd played last season with Mounie and Lossl I'm certainwe wouldn't have needed Wembley.

Would be daft loaning two keepers. If your gonna use another loan get cover for another position. Why would we be loaning two keepers ? Because we aren't going to buy Ward?

Schofield makes up the squad goalkeeping trio. Just imagine Coleman is injured in the Liverpool game with Lossl suspended, that means a 17 year old turning out at Anfield. Now THAT would cause an earthquake never mind shudders. Couldn't we get a keeper on an emergency loan if that situation materialised? Of course we could, hypothetical situation, if Lossl was suspended for one game and Coleman got the nod.

I genuinely didn't know that Plenty won't, difficult to keep track when there's so much activity. I think it's a "Kachunga" type loan to be honest.

He didn't play many games for Mainz .. is that cos he was shit or injured ? Looked the dogs nads yesterday to be fair He played 27 games in the league, and 5 in the Europa League for Mainz last season...given they only have 34 games a season rather than 38 here I'd hardly say he didn't play many games. He missed the last 7 games of their league season, and a bit of research indicates he had knee trouble for a week. However, he lost his place to Jannik Huth and was on the bench after he returned.

Wasnt massively keen on the idea of him being our no.1 this season; but would love to see him back here one day..hopefully as a PL starter. Top lad.

I'd have him back. It'd be great to have him & Loessl competing for the jersey. As for who would be No.1 - it's Loessl's shirt to lose. But remember - Liverpool will insist that Ward plays 75% of games. That is standard procedure for their loans. There's not a snowball in hell's chance of him coming back on those terms, I'd say. Lössl will be No.1 without a shadow of a doubt and Coleman deserves a chance as back-up. It's a "no" from me. I cannot see this being true, especially with the Klopp/Wagner link. Besides, so far so good for Lössl.

Wasn't hugely impressed with Ward last season despite his playoff heroics, and certainly not disappointed that he hasn't returned. Lossl looked very dominant in his box yesterday, something we've lacked in a keeper for a long time. Up until the play offs I thought he was average. Had a good two games in the play offs (suspended for the first I think?)... but Lössl already looks superior, in a similar way that Ince and Mounié look superior to Bunn and Wells. Progression.

Schofield not ready, nor is Coleman for this league. But Lössl so far looks miles ahead of Ward. Distribution. Catches. Punches. Command of area. Early days, but, so far so good.

Think the play-offs clouds a few people's memories. He got us up but he was nothing special throughout the course of the season. Definitely not ready for the Premier League.

Did I miss something? Thought I'd seen something where he'd gone out on loan to Cardiff? Or was that a rumour? That was fat Danny Ward Fat 2 mill!

Not from what I've seen, Lossl is superior in every way.

Agreed, great penalty saver, but there were numerous occasions when he failed to command his box, often well off his line when he should have been otherwise, and gave away some pointless free kicks just outside the box. I thank him for all he did, but he has, I would suggest, still got quite a lot to learn and consolidate.

Lossl had an impressive debut. However, lets wait until we've seen him play a bit more before rushing to make any judgement on him.
Ward did get better as the season went on, but I was quite happy when Liverpool decided to keep him.

Very impressed with Lössl yesterday much moreso than ever was with Ward. If Ward did return Coleman might as well pack his bags and move on without ever being given a real chance. Bollocks. Season long loan out if it did happen. Still our only real contracted senior keeper along with Schofield and Coddy

Irrespective of our own situation, I think it's pretty naive of Danny to think he'd be anything other than 3rd choice.
He would have been an ok signing for us.
He isn't a player you want to bank your Champions League qualification attempt on.

Still struggle to see how it benefits Ward and Liverpool by having him as a number 3.

Feel sorry for the guy, last thing his career needed was a year on the bench.

I feel more confident with Lossl. I felt Ward only really performed well in the Play Offs (which is good for us) and was average for the majority of his loan spell.
